  1. I have experienced the same problems as already listed. The fishtails broke trying to insert them from several of the "packs" I bought. Hunts replaced them them upon being advised of the breakages but the replacements also broke. The Hornby couplings are more robust and thus my first choice.
  2. Good evening RBC, Apologies for the delay in replying. The sound chip is an 8 pin ESU V3.5. Speaker is a base reflex. Thank you for asking.
  3. Bachmann Class 37 32-379 renumbered to 37 673 used on my china clay trains. Lightly weathered. Buffer beam detail both ends. EE roof grill and fan. Sound fitted with speaker in fuel tank. For sale at £83 including p&p ONO.
  4. Bought my peak D163 around 1995 ish. It has always been a good runner and was endowed with "upgrades" such as roof grill and fan, wire hand rails, roof access panel handrails fitted. Tail lights and sound fitted. Still works a treat.
  5. I have pre ordered a Class 37 and now wondering whether I have done the right thing. There appears to be many running problems with the Accurascale 37 compared to the Bachmann. Without trolling this op I wonder if Accurascale are aware of the alleged problems and resolved them.
  6. I think you will find Dapol fit Zimo MS or MX sound decoder to their (21 pin) locos. The steam locos are supplied Next 18 ready. The volume is adjusted through CV266. Mike
  7. Why not try the auto tune. Full details here https://dccwiki.com/LokSound_Auto_Tune
  8. I would suggest that Bachmann standardise on their kit. I have a Dynamis and the power jack has a 2.5mm pin. The barrel is 5.5mm.
  9. Digitrains being the vendor should you be asking them to re-blow the decoders to suit the N gauge locos you want to install the decoders.

  13. I believe that as long as one advises COP 24hrs before one can attend any day.
  14. Is normality not like beauty, its in the eye of the beholder.
  15. I fitted sound to my old Bachmann "Orion" in addition to improve the running qualities, i.e. stalling, I fitted a Hornby drawbar and tender chassis under the Bachmann tender body. The attached photo might help you. Mike
  16. Which model are you attempting to upgrade?
  17. Your problem appears to be similar to one I experienced with 2 Hornby locos, a Black Five and an 8F from the early 2000's. Both have the tender pick-up and DCC ready. The negative pickup is through the chassis. Initially the fault pointed to the sound decoder having upgraded from the V3.5 to a D&H. However the stopping did not cause stopping or shorting with other locos running. I modified both loco's eliminating the pick-up through chassis. The 8F was further modified to produce a wired pick up from the tender and it now runs without stalling. The Black 5 on the other hand still has the original tender loco arrangement and tends still to stall randomly on curves and particularly on points.
  18. I visited the show on Saturday with a friend, we were both amazed at the quality of the layout and the running of the trains. There was never a non run time throughout. I'm equally amazed at the criticism shown here. We spent at least 3 hours at the layout and observed one derailment, strange things happen on models but with this one it was akin to being lineside.
  19. Yes this decoder can be programmed using the Lokprogrammer. The decoder is manufactured by ESU.
  20. Hello 1056WesternSultan, You may find this installation of use. It uses the speaker as supplied fitted in the fuel tank. Mike.
  21. From you pictures it appears there is a mix of straight and stepped couplings You can check which is correct for your layout by offering them to the loco.
  22. Weathering is very good. I had a maroon western done to a photo I provided. Check Phil Bullocks postings and you will see examples. Mike
