I think you've put the main reason for your lack of motivation third on the list - depression, you can find away around the other reasons if the motivation was there.
I've always struggled when it comes to the scenery - I would begin my layout enthusiastically and then reach the scenic stage where my confidence would wain and before I knew it a new idea for a new layout took hold and off I went in a new direction. It was only last year that I finally accepted that I couldn't keep buying stuff for each new project and then see myself with too much stock and no railway to run it, then I sold off a good proportion of my stock.
During some counselling last summer I had an epiphany - my incessant need to purchase was dopamine driven, it was the thrill of the finding and making the purchase - once I got the item it lacked any thrill and then made me feel bad that I had bought something I didn't really need - it's a sign of an addiction.
I've also accepted that when I become obsessed with a new layout plan it is probably a sign that I am depressed and this is how I look inward into myself, falling back onto a comfortable pattern of behaviours.
What's changed in the past few months is that knowing why I purchase stuff and why I make plans that I wont actually deliver is part of repeating patterns of behaviour that do more harm than good. I've not purchased any railway stock since last summer, what I am buying in limited amounts are scenic items - paints, gravel etc and I am working towards finishing a railway and only once it is finished can I think about my next railway which will utilise some of my N stock.
Take the rest you owe yourself, sort out your head and then come back to modelling but pick something small and achievable, look at the Billy Bookcase threads - simple baseboard, simple track.
I typically use NHY581's Mutton as what can be achieved with simple track and baseboards, but I've also been looking a Ladmanlow sidings (Mutton inspired actually) as well
Can I also recommend you find yourself a local mindfulness or Buddhist group - those groups can transform people's lives.

What do Virgin trains have at Crewe?
DRS have Gresty
Arrive Traincare have the old carriage sidings
Electric depot is DB
Freightliner etc are in the yards.
No Virgin stock is stored at Crewe - Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Wembley. And mustn't forget Wolverhampton

I wonder if the Credit Card company were relying on a not receipt of goods chargeback which are time limited, Credit Card companies will also try and avoid paying out on Section 75 if they can - they're costly so you need to keep on and if they still won't play ball go to the ombudsman.

Surely the timelimit should begin from the expected date of delivery not the date of order - it was a pre-order, the item was not available and was not delivered.

Well it does look more like a 50 now, but then I always felt that the large logo livery hid the shortcomings of the model. Somehow in large logo it looked like a 50 whereas the current blue attempts from Bachmann really show the nose in a bad light.

Cliched or not I prefer plan A, for more space just use 2 three-ways.

There's a thread on this site now about split gears with Farish 60 and another thread on a couple of dead 37s.
I thought we'd finished with all these issues, or has there been a problem with quality control in the rush to gets things out.
I know it's not just N gauge where there have been problems this year, but these just appear to be not learning the lessons of the past. Having just rebuilt my N collection I really don't want to get disillusioned all over again.

You are being seduced into the modern man's BLT - a shed/wagon works.
But of course the reason the BLT was so popular in the past is exactly why the shed/wagon works is now - space, something that becomes very apparent when compared to your majestic efforts in N.
There was a small shed layout at Wakefield, George St Stabling Point. It had been updated since I last saw it and it was now a Freightliner fuelling point and wagon repair depot. The only engines I saw apart from an 08 was a selection of 66s in different but striking liveries. It was operated with sound but the only thing I could hear was ying ying and I actually thought what's the point. So if you do go down this route, make sure for your own sanity there is a variety of locomotive types, preferably blue!

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to look into controllers, see what cheap but non-basic ones are available.
It will be very hard to think in OO - having just cut out some lining paper to the size I can play with (13feet x 15inches), what's the first thing I do? Plonk an N gauge 60 on it I could model the approach to Manchester Piccadilly on there!
Must think 'background for nice model locos' and not 'cor, what a huge space!'

I know exactly what you mean, although a Northerner there is something about these 3rd rail emus that cries out 'buy me!!'
I too am a lifer to N gauge having sold all my OO stuff when I reached the age that a simple loop was not enough (mind I only have very limited space now that I am married with children).
But seeing these units makes me think simple terminus - one platform and a bay, couple of stabling sidings and perhaps a very basic freight siding.
Of course we can hope that Bachmann fulfils it promise to replicate N/OO ranges and Dapol (ugly word for you at the moment I know) do some Southern units in N.
