  1. A video but interesting as it involves loose shunting at Tinsley.
  2. Not as reasonably priced as the models on sale appear to be, but I am guessing there is a sting in the tail when it comes to import tax. And of course a likely lack of warranty and the fact that Dapol are making zero from it because someone has ripped them off. Yep easy to find them but zero interest in buying such goods.
  3. They were possibly waiting to see how aggressively Hornby went at the scale, which is possibly not as aggressive as Mr Kohler imagined. But if sales have been solid then the biggest confirmation of that will be another company taking a punt at a model which of course may also jog Hornby into upping it's delivery schedule knowing it's got competition. In N gauge we were in the doldrums with models like the V2 being 'the new standard' from Bachmann which looked exactly like the old one until Dapol released it's first models and it sparked a revolution in quality and quantity that only slowed when Dapol went off on it's O gauge journey. I forgot about the Deltic, that would go rather nice with available or soon to be available stock.
  4. Threw away or perhaps were rather forced to give away lest our friends across the pond should call in those loans they made to us in the war.
  5. Under that vegetable covering was some very tender lean braising steak and a 4 lean back bacon slices. It was yum though I say it myself, good old cooking learnt from my mum all those years ago.
  6. This was the tea I made this evening. For those interested dessert was some plain and simple strawberries (no sugar, cream or ice cream) and a banana. Bedtime now, night all.
  7. Some 16T wagons would be popular to go with the J50 or the 08 and with a 37 on the horizon something for it to haul as well. If Accurascale are going to offer anything TT it needs to compliment not further fragment what is currently on offer. The fear is duplication and with the Hornby 50 nearly arriving that's out, the 37 is on the cards too so that's out, Heljan's attempt at a 31 was thwarted so it rather restricts doesn't it. But some 16t wagons, mk2 coaches would not go amiss.
  8. Not very long though, mind you it would cost a lot to make all the decking safe along that side. Perhaps when Pomona island gets covered in buildings it might make sense to build an actual high level walking/cycling route from there into central Manchester using it. Certainly they need to find a solid use for that side of the viaduct before Metrolink make a claim to increase capacity as that part is a bit of a bottleneck.
  9. Possibly, but this is very much into the future, like I commented at the top Accurascale were talking about N gauge last year with a view for potentially something in 2024 and so far nothing. So TT might be a similar journey.
  10. Spoilsport! However, there is little to match with a class 92 currently. A 31 and some Mk1 Suburbans or some of the Mk2 coaches would be a stronger contender for an opening gambit.
  11. Thank goodness my tooth extraction that the private dentist couldn't perform has been picked up quickly by the NHS and I am booked in for the 16th April. Whilst it's not hurting, the remnant of the tooth doesn't taste nice and it's giving me smelly breath so out it needs to go.
  12. Time for me to start tea, as it will be cooking for over 2 hours. Braising steak topped with some lean bacon under a covering of red, green & orange peppers, tomatoes and spring onion with a vegetable stock. Will be accompanied by some fried mash when done. All fresh produce.
  13. I had a bout with sleep apnea, not nice at all and I had the gear on which confirmed I had it but what then? The solution for me was simple, lose some weight and get running again and I'm not aware I've had an occurrence in years.
  14. Pulling some Southern region pullmans or maroon mk1s 😄
  15. Once the Midland route closed (now hosting trams), the only place Central pointed was the CLC to Liverpool with no way off, so all Central could be was a glorified Oxford Road platform 5.
  16. You can never please everybody, but as long as your numbers stack up in terms of paying visitors each year then clearly the chosen path for York each year is the correct one. I certainly look forward to it each year and plan to be available to go on Easter Sunday each year, I remember missing a couple due to being on holiday abroad and I was most upset!
  17. Given how good condition the unit looks I would estimate nearer 81 than 84 as well.
  18. Hornby ANNOUNCE TT120 Development team 3D prints Claim it's been in their plans since before Simon Kohler was born and anyone else doing one is a dirty copycat stealing their ideas.
  19. Have you tried one leg and/or arm out of the bed covers so that a part of your body can use that to cool you down? Generally I sleep on my right side but if I am hot I swap to the left and have by back exposed so my trunk cools - doesn't disturb Mrs W but I get some relief from heat under the duvet
  20. Do you keep a window open at night for fresh air? Have you had a glass of water late on so you are not dehydrated. I know I always get a terrible night's sleep in hotels - hot sweats and palpitations - and I've put that down to dehydration and stuffy rooms. At home it has to be really cold before I fully shut the window, even in a gale I'll have it open a crack where it can be locked in position. Like you no late night caffeine any more, in fact hardly any caffeine at home and normally reserved for journeys to keep alert.
  21. And we wonder why blokes don't talk about feelings and sensitive things: ION: Woke up feeling very rough after a poor night's sleep, don't know what caused it but I am more alert now.
  22. Don't need one of them, no-one visits
  23. Oi - what about N gauge, you promised us stuff and now you are courting people in TT120 - most of whom if Hornby got it right will not know you even exist. 😀
  24. Ok I was under the impression some had paid and were still awaiting delivery, if thats not the case fine, but the other comments still stand about not insulting people.
  25. Without going into detail I would say there are people more in the know than us mere modellers who can see that perhaps SLW need to address how they fulfil their orders. I can see how some people are prepared to wait because they have confidence that the item will arrive and will have been thoroughly checked beforehand. But the success and feedback of the class 24 has elevated demand for SLW products and that will include a good many people with little or no experience of the people behind the product. So I can understand there may be tension amongst some people who’ve paid for their product and have no idea when that product will be delivered. Rather than insult people and drive them away, posters need to consider how they might encourage those concerned not to worry otherwise you’re just creating animosity that will ultimately be directed towards SLW.
