  1. Time for me to start tea, as it will be cooking for over 2 hours. Braising steak topped with some lean bacon under a covering of red, green & orange peppers, tomatoes and spring onion with a vegetable stock. Will be accompanied by some fried mash when done. All fresh produce.
  2. I had a bout with sleep apnea, not nice at all and I had the gear on which confirmed I had it but what then? The solution for me was simple, lose some weight and get running again and I'm not aware I've had an occurrence in years.
  3. Pulling some Southern region pullmans or maroon mk1s 😄
  4. Once the Midland route closed (now hosting trams), the only place Central pointed was the CLC to Liverpool with no way off, so all Central could be was a glorified Oxford Road platform 5.
  5. You can never please everybody, but as long as your numbers stack up in terms of paying visitors each year then clearly the chosen path for York each year is the correct one. I certainly look forward to it each year and plan to be available to go on Easter Sunday each year, I remember missing a couple due to being on holiday abroad and I was most upset!
  6. Given how good condition the unit looks I would estimate nearer 81 than 84 as well.
  7. Hornby ANNOUNCE TT120 Development team 3D prints Claim it's been in their plans since before Simon Kohler was born and anyone else doing one is a dirty copycat stealing their ideas.
  8. Have you tried one leg and/or arm out of the bed covers so that a part of your body can use that to cool you down? Generally I sleep on my right side but if I am hot I swap to the left and have by back exposed so my trunk cools - doesn't disturb Mrs W but I get some relief from heat under the duvet
  9. Do you keep a window open at night for fresh air? Have you had a glass of water late on so you are not dehydrated. I know I always get a terrible night's sleep in hotels - hot sweats and palpitations - and I've put that down to dehydration and stuffy rooms. At home it has to be really cold before I fully shut the window, even in a gale I'll have it open a crack where it can be locked in position. Like you no late night caffeine any more, in fact hardly any caffeine at home and normally reserved for journeys to keep alert.
  10. And we wonder why blokes don't talk about feelings and sensitive things: ION: Woke up feeling very rough after a poor night's sleep, don't know what caused it but I am more alert now.
  11. Don't need one of them, no-one visits
  12. Oi - what about N gauge, you promised us stuff and now you are courting people in TT120 - most of whom if Hornby got it right will not know you even exist. 😀
  13. Ok I was under the impression some had paid and were still awaiting delivery, if thats not the case fine, but the other comments still stand about not insulting people.
  14. Without going into detail I would say there are people more in the know than us mere modellers who can see that perhaps SLW need to address how they fulfil their orders. I can see how some people are prepared to wait because they have confidence that the item will arrive and will have been thoroughly checked beforehand. But the success and feedback of the class 24 has elevated demand for SLW products and that will include a good many people with little or no experience of the people behind the product. So I can understand there may be tension amongst some people who’ve paid for their product and have no idea when that product will be delivered. Rather than insult people and drive them away, posters need to consider how they might encourage those concerned not to worry otherwise you’re just creating animosity that will ultimately be directed towards SLW.
  15. The Trafford Centre also has a very posh car wash for those who can afford it, cars stink of 'cleanliness' once done and shine a bit too. Probably used by Selfridge shoppers so concierge parking too is available with free cleaning for between £60 and £190.
  16. The 156 has sliding doors, it would look more like a New York Subway train, they see the door handles on the Mk3 and know that a door means luxurious.
  17. Top & Tail - it's got a DBSO so it's just the solitary class 37 required - it's as if the Mk3 Push Pulls of 1980 and the post privatisation DRS Mk2 Cumbrian services got melded together with a 37 at the helm. I reckon if the main users of the service are American tourists they will appreciate the ambience of a Mk3 FO over an older Mk1. The engine at the head might not matter so much to them.
  18. Samurai warriors were quite handy with a sharp implement, you never know.....
  19. It was sold to a Canadian Pension company and by the number of cars in the car park at weekends I think financially it is probably getting back on track. I am glad I can just walk to the place when I need to, I wouldn't want to have to try and park. Mind you yesterday I got a taste of what it must be like for the poor souls who have to drive there. Our local Sainsburys has been cut off from half of our town by gas work and we can only enter from one direction currently and it's the worse of the two directions. Yesterday popped out to the shops not realising this work was in existence. The car park was rammed - but not with parked cars but with cars trying to get out which in turn blocked lots of parking spaces and stopped people entering from being able to park adding to the queues. Apparently it will be like this for a week, so no Sainsburys for a bit unless on foot or I park on the nearest main road. Driving used to be fun....
  20. Especially since the people who really care about their posh car currently park downstairs near Selfridges out of the elements and an elevator (probably wont use the escalator) away from the shop entrance.
  21. Trafford Centre is looking to introduce paid for posh parking outside selfridges with ANPR tech. Bigger spaces for larger cars and families who use Selfridges. Says in the Upper Peel Car Park - do they mean outside.....in the rain lol
  22. I'm on LinkedIn but not active - it has it's uses when between jobs. Some companies have incentive schemes linked to shared articles, original articles and views/likes to get their staff doing stuff. My profile pic no longer looks like me and dates back to when my children were actually children.
  23. The 57xx was Poole heritage was it not, the 64xx was a modern tooling to go up against a modern tooling Dapol 57xx.
