  1. Attached are a few extras for the kits which includes the one piece stretcher bar section (they are such a fiddle to make) which is correct for the Dreadnoughts and Saloon Stock and different to the later T stock ones. Also is a sprue of vacuum hoses for intermediate and brake ends. I'm about to start work on the Brake end.....
  2. I have also finished the former 1st class 7 compartment coach. The south end brake coach will be next.
  3. There is still choice of bogie either the original Fox type or ex District K2. I'd have loved to have removed the handles as they are a little oversized but as the old sides are metal this is a major job. Finished product will be resin which is easier modify.
  4. The first of the revised Radley Models Dreadnought kits (the 9 compartment) is now ready. The revised kit is to increase realism and make the kit a lot easier to build. The chassis and body including underframe equipment are all one piece. The bogies and roof are separate. The window bars, end grab rails, vacuum hoses and buffers have been left separate to improve the reliability of the casting. The dreaded stretcher bars are now one piece sections which fit neatly on the inside of the solebar. Pics below. I hope to get one built when they become available from Phil. Thanks to Engineer_London and others for the advice.
  5. Thanks. I'm really struggling to find good pictures of the intermediate ends. I do have the snowden book but it is a little vague which is not surprising given what you have just said. I wonder just how much modification the 7 and 9 compartment preserved dreadnought have undergone?
  6. Thanks Jeff I was wondering why there was a variation and now I know why. What was it like on the trailing end of these cars and the intermediate coaches I wonder.
  7. I'm just starting to do some work on my dreadnought models and I believe that the current kits are wrong. Does anyone have any photos of the carraige ends? I think the VCT preserved cars have been modified- the brake end of 427 certainly has.
  8. The carriages look superb and now they are up and running really come into their own on that layout. When I've done some more work I'll put up some photos.
  9. My own efforts are slowly progressing. The first samples from this proposed kit have come back. The kit is a mixture of resin and metal. The chassis and roof are resin along with the plain ends. The rest will be metal. The first samples are shown along with a very quick and basic assembly to get a feel for the kit.
  10. As promised a photo of the progress to the other side of the car. This shows the internal sections which help provide the tapering in at the waist on these cars.
  11. The good news is that work has restarted on this project. The basic side is now complete and it is awaiting the mouldings. Pictures to follow....
  12. Sadly not. I need to finish the doors and then start the other side. I have the roof and floor. I am going to order a set of BWE Camel back bogies so I can fit the motor bogies and then fill the car with lead!
  13. The first side is nearly completed now with the mouldings formed from 0.25mm plasticard cut into very thin strips. Thankfully the 1921 batch was steel panelled with fewer mouldings than the earlier 1904-6 and 1913 batches.
  14. Because the Metropolitan Saloon Stock had a slope into the body from the waste down there needs to be a composite type construction. This is reflected in the design of this car. The following photos show the two part body side which also incorporates the flat sliding doors and helps form the curve.
  15. To add to my 1921 trailer and 1913 motor I have started to scratch build the 1921 motor for my 5 car Circle Stock set. As with the others, the roof is from the Radley Models dreadnoughts. The chassis is from the T stock kit and the bogies from the 1904 BWE Camel back loco (like the real ones!) Progress photos will be posted as it progresses. I have the first side virtually completed.
  16. Attached is a photo of a GP wagon I've been scratch building for OO gauge with a kit version behind. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25182511@N08/12781361704/
  17. I've been using the Scalefour society parts for my proposed layout. The rail and insulators look great, much better than the Peco stuff which I think looks far too small especially with Code 100 rail which is why I have started to use Code 75 rail except on the points.
  18. These look good Bill. Are they resin metal or plastic? I think Phil is planning to use the existing dreadnought bogies which are very similar.
  19. Sorry massive typo!! I've got T stock on the brain! Of course the 2nd/3rd class coaches had 7 comps! You'd struggle to fit much more in!
  20. The stock that Radley models are producing are the 1899-1900 bogie stock but reconverted to steam stock. There is already a range of dreadnought stock available. Radley do produce MV motors and MW driving trailers and I would expect there to be trailers in a year or two. The coaches in the pipeline are the push pull vehicles that ran on the chesham branch although for my layout they will be fully electric.
  21. I do like what you've done though. You won't get the brake coach you need though so it would be nice to see you finish that at least.
