  1. You’ve been very quiet with Dallam this summer and autumn Simon … hope all is ok? How’s your TPM Class 87 kit progressing? Rich
  2. No problem - I should have added, that like all projects with new rolling stock, things keep moving and the number on the dice changes with each shake, so timescales could move forward or backwards as things develop! I am looking forward to the Revolution 93 ... may even have to get one for the cabinet!
  3. Tom, sorry for some reason rmWeb didn't flag up that there had been a post on this thread, so I missed it! Yes I understand that Stadler do not have the design rights to use the '68/88' style cab which is a Vossloh copyright. John, unless you know something I dont (which is feasible!!), while DRS have rights to the tech spec and design, the cab and intellectual property (IP) on the 'look' including the cab design is Vossloh. So my understanding from a Stadler source is that no more locos could be built with the '68/88' style cab, as Stalder do not have the rights to use it, such IP was not included in the sale. I suppose there is nothing to stop Stadler going to Vossloh, requesting and paying to use it, but I my source was very clear that any further 68 or 88 acquisitions would need a new cab design (or use the 93, as that is a Stadler design). After all why would a manufacture want their products to look like somebody else's? From a DRS point of view, the whole 'would it be worth it' quandary, could come down to whether a new external cab design could need re-certification and validation etc. It depends how far such a change would go. Some minor issues with electrical testing have flagged up, which have now been traced to an issue with the OHL power source I gather, rather than the locos. 93001 should start WCML testing in November now. In terms of delivery, because the testing has been pushed back, I gather the delivery schedule has altered. Nope, all 10 are allocated to traffic from next year, 2 with ROG once mainline certification is valid, the other 8 with an external operator, but I can't say who! Only that they are required from June (I think) next year. Likely hood is that the eight will also have the Dellner couplers removed, as they won't be needed for stock movements. Yes 93001 has dynamic testing to be done on the WCML overnight for a few weeks to finalise the certification. Then it's probably two months for ORR to review all the paperwork and (hopefully!) grant the certification. With testing originally expected in September, it was hoped that certification would be granted just before Christmas, so I am expecting now that the hope is main line certificatio from February 2024, assuming no problems. But once they have certification there will be a number of runs on the WCML and ECML on diesel and electric, for crew training - the 93 is a VERY different beast to a 37. Depending on where the fleet is based, which has not yet been decided (there are four companies in the running for that), could dictate whether more of those runs are West Coast or East Coast based. They will likely be with Mk3 stock in tow, to provide some train weight and train handling experience. Yes, 93002 will be the last to be delivered, as it has to go back to Spain for mods. Basically to remove all the various testing equipment and make it the same as the rest of the fleet.
  4. Many of us have been there, and thought the same thing, the 7mm bug is dreadful to get rid of! I got caught with an 08 (well actually 3), which led onto a pair of Class 20s, 31, 37, two 47s, 60 ... an industrial Peckett and a superb scratch built LNER A2 Pacific (which I didn't scratch build) ... really dont have the room for 7mm, but wow they are lovely! That damm bug never leaves you tho :) I seem to keep relapsing. The 009 coaches will be nice, I think you will need to provide a sneak preview when you have completed them! Rich
  5. Hi Roge, Nice to see some new pictures and great to see you're still progressing with the layout. I have my fingers crossed for the 'more modelling updates over the winter!' Both locos look great and well worth the effort you've spent on them. Rich
  6. Great work Jerry - the dogs looks as if they weren't too keen to come home!! Happy Birthday for tomorrow! Rich
  7. Recently a lot of work has been taking place on Laurie's layout to make the hidden sidings usable. While I can claim to have helped a bit in soldering various relays and diodes onto breadboards to aid in the control system, its is a very minor amount! Full credit goes to Laurie for the design work (which follows the why keep it simple when complicated will suffice methodology 😂) and the final wiring up. The North Mercia Area Group meeting on 5th October, had a small attendance from the regulars, but despite Laurie's best efforts the new control panel just missed the evening. However, a manual process, allowed a small amount of rail operation to take place, and with some careful operation of two controllers, we managed to run my blue & grey Class 108, and Laurie's 1960s green 108 together, and passing on the Junction route for what is thought to have been the first time. While it was only filmed on an iPhone, the attached video, shows this historic event.... Rich
  8. Thanks Ben, I have just noticed there's a last updated date above the table, which either is a new edition, or somehow I had completely missed when looking on the iPad! Had I seen that, it would have answered the question for me!! Thanks for the confirmation all the same. Rich
  9. On the premise I looked on the Revolution website earlier and couldn’t find anything bar one line on a page that I wasn’t sure whether it was up to date or not, would I be right in assuming that no idea on production dates or prices for the PTA wagons has been announced? I know Revolution say something, when there is something to say, but the lack of mention on the website did make me wonder if it had gone off the drawing board for some reason? Hoping it’s still there, I am assuming (read hoping) it will be like the Accurascale wagons, with a set on outer/inners/outer and a second set of inners only? Rich
  10. Great to see Llanbourne back in action Peter. Always followed you since I joined rmWeb 10 plus years ago!
  11. Probably not, it must sound strange after the Gresley Pacific’s … but at least it was an era when a Twitter post, was an old tree stump that a bird perched and whistled! Sorry couldn’t resist that one! I generally stay in the background, but am an avid reader of Peterborough North, superb modelling and the accurate operational details really make the final touch for me. Wonderful. Rich
  12. Superb modelling as ever. I love the weathering on Deltic too ... I know the production Deltics were around 1960,, but what period was that on the ECML? Rich
  13. Thanks to everyone for their pointers and advice, my mate tells me he's acquired a second edition of the book at a very reasonable price. But he comments the Supplement seems to be going for silly money! @Steamport Southport Do you happen to know what benefit the supplement gives for modelling? It is additional information, extra info on vehicles that weren't included or a combination of extra pictures and error updates? He's just trying to decided if it's worth buying, or wait until he can find one in a shop somewhere that he can look through. Rich
  14. Glad to hear the enthusiasm and mojo has returned Andy ... dont get too carried away with the RnR! Being a child of the 80s .. I thought Rock and Roll related to a trip on a 141 Pacer for many years til I knew better .. then of course I realised it was nothing to do with music but the rollercoaster at the fun fair!!! :P Enjoy the band time mate. Rich
  15. Thanks Chaps, I thought there had to be a suitable book, but decided against a simple Google or Amazon search, as I wouldn't have known whether it was an 'accurate' source or not! Cheers! My mate can go hunting around the second hand book shops now. Rich
  16. I was asked on a Zoom call with some modelling friends last night if I knew where drawings (either full size or scale) could be obtained to model Mk1 coaches. Other than Kew or the NRM for full size versions, I concluded there must be a source (akin to Isinglass for LNER coaches) or a book that has done a decent job of reproducing them? Can anyone point me in the right direction and I can advise my mate accordingly.... Rich
  17. And not a weed or bush insight look. A well maintained railway, very different from what we have today :(
  18. View Advert Bound Magazine Titles - Offers Welcome I am helping a friend to clear out her late father's collection of railway items. Normally I wouldn't list magazines on here, but these are all professionally bound copies. To confirm they are not the modern binder style things that you thread a magazine in to and put the shelf ... these have been professionally stitch bound (I believe) into a hardback book style. I have enclosed a couple of pictures, but they are only small pictures (apologies I didn't take them) but show the style. We are keen for them to go to a good home, a couple of titles have already been sold/moved. They are located in the Dartford area, just south of London, and because of weight, will need to be a collected at a time convenient to all. Postage is not a proposing because of a) the weight, and b) a lack of time to parcel things up - I am not local to the collection so cannot help in that respect. Those titles and dates available are as follows .. to the best of my knowledge each year is a complete year, I honestly do not believe there are any issues missing from a year at all, but they are advertised on the proviso that I cannot be 100% sure, so they maybe. But in my personal view its unlikely that there is any missing issues. For the avoidance of doubt, each volume is a single hardback book - multiple volumes, means multiple books! Locomotives of the GWR Parts 1-12 in 2 volumes. 1952 Modern Railways 3 volumes 1962-64 Modern Railways Pictorial Vol 1-5 + Modern Railways Pictorial Profile ( not sure of date ?1980s) - One volume Motive Power Monthly Vol 1-6 starts 1986 Railway World Specials one volume Yesteryear Transport one volume (starts 1982) Steam Days. 21 volumes from 1987 to 2006 British Railways Illustrated 4 volumes 1991-1996 Steam Railways 21 volumes 1982-2002 Steam World 20 volumes 1987-2006 Entrain 5 volumes 2002-2006 Railways South East 2 volumes 1987-1992 Railways Illustrated 2006 one volume Zeleznici Magazine 3 volumes 1999-2002 Rail Express 7 volumes 1996-2002 Rail Professional 6 volumes 1998-2004 Traction 2 volumes 1994-1998 If there are no individual expressions of interest, we would be happy for a railway/society or established restoration project to take them, with a view to selling on and raising funds for their projects. If there is any interest, please make an offer. We are of the view that such superb tombs go to a good home, rather than the income, so a token amount could be acceptable. I'll collate the interest and go with the most viable option (in terms of bid, collection time, and ability to collect etc), before passing the 'winning' individuals contact details to my late friends daughter so that you can arrange a suitable collection time between you. They will need to be collected by mid-late October, so no major urgency, but please bear this in mind. Any questions, please do ask, or drop me a PM. 19. Great to see some 3mm modelling on here ... and good modelling at that. Following along and keep going at it!
  20. No personal experience of SEEP, but I know a few people who have had problems ... having said that I know quite a few are used on exhibition layouts, so maybe it could be more quality issues, not sure? I think I'd go with switching polarity from the switch tho if you could? Perhaps some form of momentary relay wired from the switch to actually trigger the point motor? Rich
  21. Superbly done. I look forward to seeing some videos of both the railway and your new lever frame in action. Great modelling.
  22. Looks nice Duncan, you have done a superb job with the painting. While it may not be authentic, it somehow looks at home! Rich
  23. Very nice Adam, Looking good. I am about to start drawing up some CAD stuff for a 2FS tram chassis. Which could be fun, or a total unmitigated disaster! Looking forward to your 3D printed chat next month. Rich
  24. Thank you guys, I'm missing MR No. 2 thats why I couldn't remember it! I'll have to go search eBay! I dont think the MRS have a No. 2 left in stock from memory. Rich
  25. Oooh, now that looks a fascinating book ... defiantly one to 'get over the line and finish'! Thanks for the thoughts everyone, I'll try and find the Midland Record article. Rich
