    Top Gear?

I've never enjoyed the 'star in a car' bit in the show, even in the old (middle?) TG. I don't find the new version much better or worse, although I do wonder why each guest has to introduce the other. really bizarre.

    Top Gear?

watching episode 3 I found I had forgotten that this was 'new' top gear and just generally enjoyed most of it. it was much much better than the first two.

    Top Gear?

I thought Matt LeBlanc carried off his role quite well. I'm not the biggest fan of Chris Evans, however I liked his interviewing style possibly better than Clarkson's (having seen only one interview!). I always found Clarkson to be excellent in reviews, an oaf in the challenges, and cringe-worthy in the star-in-a-car interviews. I think the format itself is tired, but I certainly didn't miss the childish humour and adolescent antics of the former three presenters. I'm glad they've gone.
  4. my first thought was, big deal, putting people on the layout isn't much of a project!...but then I thought, hmmm....this isn't a shunting yard, there are going to be hundreds!
  5. looks great. the cliff is so big it makes it look like n gauge!
  6. excellent! now for some coaches!
  7. fabulous composition here. excellent photo and looks real. would be good in 4mm, but 2!?!? great work.
  8. you should sell some of those photos back to Rapido as marketing shots! excellent.
  9. except to anyone who has spent time building their own track! great job. this just gets better and better. loving the progress. it's going to be terrific.
  10. Q: If a police car, a fire engine, and an ambulance arrive at a mini roundabout at the same time, who has right of way? A: None, they all lurch forward at the same time and crash. The fire crew put out the fire, the ambulance crew treat the injured and the policemen arrest everyone. It is a perfect, self-contained accident.
  11. a man walks into a shop, goes up to one of the employees and says, "I'd like some guitar strings, a pick, an instrument cable and a book on how to play guitar" the assistant replies, "you're a drummer, aren't you?" "how can you tell?", replies the man "this is a travel agency..."
  12. excellent progress. love the mix of real vs layout. very inspirational. thanks again.
  13. great to see a depot in such a big space. many of the depots I recall are often either micro layouts or parts of a bigger layout (not that there's anything wrong with that!), but putting it in a big space gives it that expansiveness of the real thing.
  14. that slip looks excellent. great job. even better when you remember how small it is!
  15. what did you use for the paved area and curbs next to the cottages? looks great whatever it is. I find when looking at your pics it's easy to forget how small everything is!
  16. the layout is really terrific. love those trees. fantastic.
  17. one of life's little pleasures: watching a wagon speed perfectly through newly-built pointwork. when I finished my track I spent ages doing just that, with a contented grin on my face.
  18. someone's been let loose with a new weathering set here..... a little on the heavy side I think you'll agree?
  19. one thing I have noticed is that watching pro cycling is very helpful for learning about modelling, due to the many shots from the helicopter.
  20. glad to see an update. I was wondering if this was going to take a back seat to Euston. the signal box is very impressive. I forgot it was 2mm scale till the next post mentioned it! are you making an interior?
  21. yes, really is an excellent painting job on the driver. loco could use some weathering though. not very realistic!
  22. looking forward to this! excellent project. I've been wishing I could do something similar for absolutely ages. from a 4mm point of view, it's incredible what can be achieved in 2mm. all that in under 2m! enough to make one convert!
  23. tbh I think expecting society to improve itself from the bottom up, while laudable, is unrealistic. the only way to stop people committing such driving offences is to find some way of gathering evidence against them and then administering draconian fines.
