  1. On Monday Simon and I got chance to operate a few trains, specifically to do some testing for voltage drop and current loading over such a large layout. Tests proved very positive with less than 0.2 volt drop and the double headed 37's pulling less than 2 amps peak on a 30 wagon train. Here are some of the video's we made which are essentially the first trains to run on HLJ. First up, a pair of Tinsley's finest Heljan 37's working a East bound empty MGR. Followed quickly by another empty MGR, this time worked by a DJH Class 40. Something a little unusual, Derby RTC ''IRIS'' Test car working a Manchester to Leeds inspection run. Finally, Heljan Large Logo 37191 heading a lengthy rake of Cargo Flats West bound through HLJ.
  2. T They where actually LWB Ford Transit twin wheels and tyres, changed many sets in the good old days.
  3. Good Afternoon, Can anyone be kind enough to explain the difference between a WTT and a Conditional WTT ?. Thanks
  4. Long overdue update on Shirebrook. All the track work is complete and I have had a few running sessions I ran into a problem by the fact now the layout is homed in my loft, width of the layout is just over 4' and I couldn't reach the back of the boards to start the scenic work, so have had to strip the layout back down to enable access to the rear half of the layout. Anyhow I have made good progress over the summer and should have the main running lines back up in the next couple of weeks. Main running line trackwork. South East corner embankment. Depot approach Road. . I will upload more photographs and update soon.
  5. Thanks Mr Bangor Blue, however ''YE'' doesn't cover Heaton lodge. The official route name is Hebden Bridge and Diggle to Leeds. I have used the source you suggested for WTT's several times in the past. Edit...Found it, it is ''YG'' area.
  6. Got the Fiddlers Ferry and all the Tank workings, it was just the above one's that I was struggling to identify. Now looking to do the Passenger workings but I am having difficulty in finding an early 80's ''YJ'' Passnger WTT.
  7. In conjunction with Simon, I am working on a Freight roster for the Heaton Lodge layout project. I have a 1983 WTT that I am using for a reference and have identified most trains but a few are eluding me. Can anyone help with identifying what the following workings would have carried. 8M89 Healey Mills - Arpley Sidings 7M92 Scunthorpe - Ashburys 8M34 Healey Mills - Garston 8E77 Walton Junction - Healey Mills 8E07 Ardwick - Healey Mills
  8. As per Andrew, I have also recently converted to the Signa Trak, the 5 amp version, and think it's the best system I have had and I have tried most. Very simple and clear.
  9. Using some of the usefull information contained in the above posts, I have found that during the late 70's, early 80's (my modelling period), the Tuxford Oil was sent to Llandarcy refinery. The train was pathed daily M/F and ran as 6V01, routing via Rotherwood sidings where a loco change used to take place. The Tuxford - Rotherwood section was usually worked by a Class 47. The last train to leave Tuxford was in 1988 and was worked by a pair of Clas 20's.
  10. Langwith (Steam) and Shirebrook (Diesel) operated very close together for a couple of years in the 1960's.
  11. As part of my research for my Shirebrook layout, has anyone any information regarding Oil traffic from the BP Terminal at Tuxford on the High Marnham Branch. I have details on some workings to the Oil Terminal at Warsop, on the same line, but that was a distribution depot that received its supply from Stanlow, I presume the facility at Tuxford was used for loading Crude produced by a number of small wells located in the Tuxford area.
  12. Look up P H designs, Pete Harvey produces what you are looking for.
