  1. The Eastbourne Models and Hobbies Ltd Edition Box van that Ken commissioned from Hornby was still available from the store when Trevor took over. There must have been thousands!
  2. Ken Morton ran the place in the 70's and early 80's as Eastbourne Models and Hobbies. Ken really didn't like kids (I was one at the time and he was always quite brusque to me). Then a chap called Paul (for the life of me I can't remember his surname) purchased the store, owning it and running it until finally selling it to Trevor Hendrick who had just been kicked out of Scale Rail (the other bigger store in Eastbourne at the time). Under Paul the store was a shadow of its former glory and was in danger of withering away. Trevor renamed it to Train Times pinching the font from the actual "train times". The outside woodwork of the store was then painted in the old Eastbourne Bus Corporation colours from the sixties and seventies making it stand out against the white brickwork. Stock was purchased over a long period of time til eventually you could hardly get in the place for Model Railways, Scalextric Diecast and plastic model kits. Was a real Aladdin's cave. Trevor's almost encyclopedic knowledge of all things railway and his plastic kit building skills are sadly missed.
  3. I've got a large quantity of aluminium coach wheels (the ones that came with BSL/Phoenix bogies) I have never used them as I have a fair few Romford/Jackson wheel sets in the stash. Are they actually any good or are they just crud collectors? Opinions puhleeze Gents.
  4. It looks like you went hammer and tongs at that. I would advise in future drilling a big hole in the centre of the window along with the small corner radius ones and snip out bits with some small snips and using a much smoother file to finish, gently ream/file out the rest.
  5. With careful cutting, a file and some glue 'n glaze you should be able to fit a clear piece of acrylic flush with the end.
  6. That looks like an Airfix manufactured one. Superceded by Dapol Pancake motored version then purchased by Hornby who used the same mech. The final iteration of the "original" castle body mouldings then got a can motor.
  7. Thanx Mikkel. I missed the pic in Russell vol 2. Doh!
  8. Does anyone have any pics of the GWR H56 in GWR livery please? Got an antique BSL kit painted and need some details of lettering etc.
  9. Saw Magnum many times when living in the UK. Massively underrated songwriter and guitarist. Rest in Peace Tony!
  10. You can file down pinpoint bearings to sit deeper in the bogie side frames. If you are using old Romford wheelsets the axles are too long. You can move the wheels up the axles and then using a power drill/cordless and file down the axles to length required. The Comet bogies will be over wide even if you file the cast sides as thin as you dare. Comet hinges work and look good. Although I use their door handles as hinges. (By the time they're painted you can't tell)
  11. Indeed there were. A myriad of diagrams that are not even around as kits!
  12. Does anybody here know of anyone who supplies/sells 4mm scale buffet car decals in the gold and black script? Seems you can get everything else except....
  13. Has anyone have any photos or drawings of the above mentioned GWR Diagram H47 please? I have the kitchen side which is in JH Russell's Pictorial series. What I'm after is the corridor side. I've got two and a half Hornby H33 restaurants that need attacking with a Razor saw.
  14. Best suck up the three quid a pop. Lot of work to file/grind down the huge Lima flanges. You really need a lathe to be consistent but if you are a dab hand with a file it can be done with an electric drill and a lot of care and patience.
  15. Well you just screwed that up Ol' Froot. That makes at least three. Don't forget the A27 you're always banging on about was a lot shorter than your other favourite, the A30.
  16. I have some Kirk plastic ends but would prefer whitemetal as they are to go on some AH Hammond etched sides.
  17. No Chris. I have two sets already from Mopok in use on other kits. The CCT ones are different. (I was looking at those the other day) Ian
  18. I am after some cast whitemetal ends for 4mm scale Python/Damo/Asmo/Giant. I believe that Mopok made them and/or W&T Thanx Ian
  19. Can any of you learned gents identify these sides for me please? They came in a load of GWR stuff but clearly are not of that ilk.
  20. Bit late to the party (that's what happens when you live on the edge of civilization) but holy smokes what a stunning piece of kit! Glad I got my paws on a couple.
  21. You can't remove the overspill as it's a solvent that melts (welds) plastic together. The joint you can probably loosen by adding more solvent and wiggling the part gently and hopefully it comes away.
