  1. Picked up a couple of these from fleebay at £35 a pop for the NNV Newspaper variant. Have to say that these are seriously impressive models, probably the best I've ever seen. Love the sustantial box and vehicle info sheet as well. Other manufacturers should take note.
  2. Some of the pricing is quite extraordinary. Definitely outside the limits of my disposable income / hobby allowance. More Ebay patience required, but TBH some of the price paid make me look twice.
  3. I know ... but Phil did say he was working on something bigger and it fits with North Wales.
  4. 14 March 1958. English Electric deliver their first Type 4 to Stratford. 14 March 2018. Phil Sutton delivers EE Type 4 / BR Class 40. Just saying ......
  5. Having skimmed through the red/blue pages got me thinking - 1. RM web (bers) are perhaps 5% of the target customer base, 2. Who are probably die hards and 95% committed to their chosen modelling subject/period. For me, some of the more interesting new items come from the retailer/supplier relationships and the smaller suppliers i.e. SLW, Oxford, 2H, 4-TC, Beilhack, 47/7, crowdfunded 74, RHTT etc I wonder if we, as a more opinionated group, should look for marginal items from the dedicated retailers.
  6. Lets be honest, manufacturers wet our appetite then disappoint. 2HAP - how hard can it be - everything is done apart from the label! 4BEP - 1 set of BR MK1 tool slides. When they arrive is anyones guess!
  7. Hi All I have both my 4-TC units up and running with Lenz decoders. I have to say I am very pleased with them - great initiative from Kernow, here's hoping for REP and CIG in the future. But a couple of observations if I may 1. The colour of the interiors - white? These particularly stand-out on the corridor sides/compartments and vestibules to the point where I am going to have to repaint them. 2. Electrical complexity - putting a 4 wire bus through 4 coaches must add cost. I am fortunate that my layout is in a dedicated room, hence the units will stay coupled, but I can easily see the connectors getting damaged by repeated coupling/uncoupling. I would have thought the established Bachmann 2 wire bar coupling would have been more robust, but would of course require a decoder (a cheap one) in each end.
  8. Spoke to Dave at Fareham show and he confirmed the project is going ahead. Looking like Autumn '18. Great news, keep up the good work Dave.
  9. Hi Julian To be honest it is whatever takes your fancy Here's 66086 with two in tow at Perth on the 30th June this year at about 9am making its way towards Aberdeen. Regards Andy

  15. Hi All Lights on and sound fitted - Hats off to Biff and Charlie - another great project. I do like the cab light on/off when moving/stationary - nice tough that. If its any help to others I have used Hob-E-Lube Premium Gear Lube HL664 and ran it in for an hour - it is noticeably quieter. As others have found top speed is approx 60mph but slow speed control is superb. Maybe that is the compromise with a coreless motor? Haulage wise I have 2xBG + 9xNPV/NAV hanging off the hook with no problems. All in all another fine model! Regards Andy
  16. Hi Dave Well done and congratulations on the venture. Got mine in the post yesterday - it is a masterpiece! Running in nicely before fitting sound from Biff. Ordered a 2nd 74 to get the numbers going. Regards Andy
  17. and I thought this was a preserved locomotive of the national collection - shame on the NRM! Can't wait for my weathered blue one to turn up - must be soon
  18. Many thanks for the feedback - I did get to the point of thinking its not possible having trawled the web. Would be a nice feature when NCE do a further update to the software. Cheers Andy
  19. Hi - Seasons greetings to one and all I have a question regarding the NCE Powercab - I've searched the manual and web but to no avail. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the 'BELL' key to be momentary acting rather than latching. i.e. the same as the 'HORN' key. Having assigned F2 and F3 - High and Low horns on Biff's sounds, I would like both to be momentary using these dedicated keys Regards Andy
