  1. Thanks for that, I'll ring them and see if I can get them to clarify the descriptions. Cheers Colin
  2. So which one of the Digitrains King George V is suitable for 1970's preserved running? I'm thinking it's the BR green with an early emblem but I thought I'd better check before ordering! Cheers Colin
  3. That looks great Grahame. I don't buy kits anymore because I haven't got the spare time to make them these days.
  4. That's a shame, I was considering renewing my membership for a while there. Cheers Colin
  5. Thanks for posting this Lindi, my wallet is safe until October but will take a battering in November and December too! Having said that I am expected a little 'slippage ' in delivery dates. The recently displayed EPs makes the MK2 coaches look worth the wait. Cheers Colin
  6. Are you looking for something like this? Not very well painted but the print is nice
  7. MX622n have been, or are in the process of being replaced by the MX617n. A six pin MX617n will coast you £20
  8. Millions of pounds a year are lost to the rail industry because of ticket avoidance and abuse. Unfortunately to deal with this measures have to be put in place which can penalise people who have made honest mistakes. In most cases, certainly in the case of a forgotten season ticket, the TOCs customer services will rectify any genuine issues. This does not remove the requirement to have a valid ticket for your journey. Incidentally it is common practice to notify onboard staff of out of course ticket office closures and also inoperative ticket machines.
  9. I've just pre ordered two,not convinced I'll ever see them but hoping that I will!
  10. I have spoken to people who initially expressed an interest but are no longer interested due to the lower spec. The fully funded Class 17 not appearing won't have helped either!
  11. I'm hoping the MK2a coaches weren't affected by the recent typhoon. The Dapol Class 50 painted samples had a lucky escape apparently!
  12. The gent in question used to be a designer for Farish apparently, he wanted to stay in China so he set up his own business. He can make models but probably doesn't have the trade contacts to sell them.
  13. I double head locos and bank trains on my garden railway using DCC. One of the reasons that I went for the ZIMO system is that it's easy to adjust individual loco speeds which means I don't get any 'pushing and shoving' but more importantly I can drop the banking engine off without stopping the train using one handheld controller.
  14. I've ordered some Esso packs from Rails of Sheffield, hoping to get them fairly soon.
  15. As long as it can make it up a reasonable gradient I'd be happy with a cheaper single powered power car.
  16. Many apologies, I should know better.than feed the Trolls
  17. That sounds good Dave. I didn't want to have to mess around too much to get vehicle lighting. Oh I know full well that it wouldn't need to work when being dragged but the big clue is when I said most of the time and used the word could when referring to it being dragged. Are you available 24/7 to offer pointless advice or do I need to make an appointment?
  18. I would be happy with a seven car set. For me coach lighting and a lifting nose are a must. I'm not talking about a fancy nose mechanism but as long as I could 'drag' my APT I would be happy so maybe a way of having two plug in positions is possible? Tilt is, for me, an expensive luxury and in fact would hinder my plan to have the set being dragged most of the time. If a more basic spec'd but well detailed APT was available I would most likely have one with full yellow nose and one with black windows too.
  19. I'm experimenting with home made 'BM1' and Lenz BM2 units with my Zimo decoders quite succesfully. The BM2 units being used for automated speed control and to slow down locos that are about to enter the fiddle yard rather than run through at speed,
  20. Whereas all my ZIMO decoders have the brake on F2! You will need to read the manual and configure the brake function to your requirements if it's not part of a loaded sound project.
  21. You can also use a Z21 black system to load firmware and sound projects onto Zimo decoders
  22. No it doesn't, I've got a number locos which have had features added via firmware updates and retain their original sound projects
  23. Hi Alan It looks like the main addition (but not necessarily the only one) with the new software is to compliment an identification feature in the new MX32 firmware. I'll update my system along with a sample decoder tomorrow and dodgy German translation ( on my part) permitting give it a try! The MX820/821 firmware looks like V4 which was the launch firmware for the MX821 so won't be any different to what you already have. Cheers Colin
  24. Some of my ZIMO sound decoders are 10 years old and have had a goodly amount of features added to them as free upgrades. Continuous upgrades of firmware isn't cheap and has to be covered by decoder sales.
