47559 Sir Joshua Reynolds had domino headcodes in 1984: http://www.class47.co.uk/c47_zoom_v3.php?img=0999000575000
There's a picture it newly painted at Crewe Works with the headcode panel plated over in May 1985.
Wikipedia has a picture of 47523 with dominoes as late as 1988.
47464 had dominoes in in 1986, but by then it was in large logo livery. There's a picture of it in rail blue in 1983 here: https://www.pressreader.com/uk/traction/20210401/281573768482810
They're the only 47/4s I've found from a quick search, but several 47/0s still had dominoes at this time.
Thank you very much. That helps, as I had a search and could not find any.
47559 was one of the first 47s I saw, so it will probably become that.

Most, if not all, seem to have had plated headcodes by 1982 and 1983
Did any blue 47/4s carry domino headcodes into 1983 or even 1984.
It is for a possible loco re numbering
Thanks
Steve

I might well have some more recent ones that feature clearer views of some of those buildings, as I don't think they have changed that much since the 1980's.
You can see one of them in a bit more detail - certainly the windows & fire escape arrangement - on this 2005 shot.....
Will have a look through my photos and see if there are any others.
Thank you for looking

Ok, thanks. I'm hoping to model 47085 Mammoth in the 80's but need to find a marker light.
Are you using a Heljan tubby duff as a start point?
-
That looks really good Luke.
I very much like the trees.
(My tip to improve it, would be to make the grass a bit patchier. So for example instead of two big clumps in the forground also add a few smaller ones, as weeds and grass are often a bit random in the way they grow)

Good decision to keep those 47's, can I ask about 47 010, where did you get the marker light on the front from or was it on there originally?
It started life as a cheap 47596 Aldeborough Festival shell off Ebay.
I then found a chasiss. That one didnt need handrails made as they were allready wire on that one.
I had some spare buffer beam detail. I then renumbered it to 47010.
47324 is the other one that is cobbled together

I have drawn out a trackplan. Just about doable in the space I have.
Would a very occasional class 45 or class 40 ever have made it into the yard or on the odd holiday excursion?
(I have found a few pictures of 40s on rail tours)

Heljan 47s. I photographed them in order to sell all four of them in order to upgrade to new Bachmann 47s.
However having just pictured them....you know what I think I will keep them.
And slowly build up a fleet of Bachmanns. 47012 will be the first purchase soon.
Tweaked with various handrails, headcode panels, windscreens and so

Holding those back for now. Not just the galas but the depot when Merv, Me and Robin walked in the day after we saved it and the first efforts to secure the site to stop anything else getting nicked ( After the roof, Three way point etc)
I've got a Barrow Hill album but there is still a lot to go into it

I just looked in the BH folder amd there are 2016 images from Barrow Hill and 254 video files
Plenty to go at!
Kev
Were you involved in saving Barrow Hill?
If so thank you...as I have enjoyed every visit I have taken there.

I haven't made my final decision yet with regards to the new class 47 fleet.
At the moment I am edging towards Bachmann. The only thing stopping me is that I so want plated headcode versions. And Heljan have 47316 on the way.

More cracking photo's! That one is very nice! Think I might have to save these for future reference! Love that 31.
Yes 31418 will appear on the layout.
Stock will be
03, 08, 31/0 31/4, 37, 47
Cravens DMU in blue.
Another DMU not sure which on yet.
I really like the way the houses off to right out of shot can form a low relief backscene.

490mm over buffers.
Andi
thank you Andi
I also need to work out how far back the buffer stops were in the station. It looks like the roof area covered the first coach of the unit and a small part of the second.
Although the roof has gone, I think I might have to make a trip to Lowestoft to acertain dimensions.

Also does anyone know what the length of a two car cravens is in 4mm?

Thanks. I am now compiling an off line folder.

001 was sans high intensity headlight whilst 625 was with - depending what OP was after. 625 also used the better class 47 tooling without exaggerated rivets. The heavy weathering might not be to everyone’s taste and the large unusually positioned nameplate makes renumbering a little more complex. Oddly they didn’t sell well with KMRC discounting them to shift - I picked up 2 cheaply and added a spare body picked up at a show for £10. Renumbering and naming is in my Round Tuit pile….
Those have been my thoughts exactly, If nothing is anounced over the next year. I will get two 625 bodies get them resprayed (I dont have the kit or room to do it) and then get numbering and weathering,
My other option is to buy a few 47012 and then fit plated headcodes from Shawplan. But would need to match the yellow.
We shall see!
(The high intensity light I can take or leave as I model 1980 -1985, so some had them some didn´t. Given the choice I would take one with out the light, but beggars cant be choosers)

Thank you both for digging out the photos.

47001 was this version in the older tooling , but it wasn’t done well.
Shawplan makes various bit and bobs for this, replica railways makes stickers for the marker lights
I have just emailed Shawplan

What I think is So very well done is the depth of field in such as small space, which is very hard to achieve,
The river, then a step up to the main track, then a step up to the embankment and trees then a step up to the higher line then a step up to the backscene.
For me it is one of the best thought out micro layouts I have seen, and that is just from the pictures.
