  1. To my knowledge. The only services they appeared on were those down to Norwood and I have only seen pictures of them in the 70s on it. Exceptions I know of are I heard a report of a 25 making it to Ashford in the late 70s on a special to Dover. It was pulled off at Ashford and apparently returned light. But no number and no picture of it...so perhaps it is an urban myth. I have a picture of double headed 25s with coal empties St Mary Cray way in the mid 70s. I am not sure a 25 made it to Hither Green on freight in the 70s and 80s. I know the odd 31, 37 and 40 did. (I know 25s made it to Hither Green in the late 60s)
  2. Hi Steve That looks really good, especially the muted colours, as others have said. I very much like the picture on the previous page that features the lorry.
  3. Hoping to finish my engineering train in a few months. I have no time for modelling at the moment. A couple of pictures, 73122 basking in late afternoon light and 56001 on the stabling point for the weekend.
  4. A very nicely done layout. Good level of detail and weathering for N gauge. Well done
  5. I think it handled traffic from East Anglia, i am not sure from which ports. I was always at Stratford at a weekend so I never saw it in use.
  6. J3401 of the Peckett is a lovely photograph, I am not into Pecketts, but for me the colours everything about that picture is just right.
  7. A withdrawn class 46 at the back end of Stratford works on a quiet deserted Saturday afternoon. I think the last one a saw was 46011 at dusk, Margam just before the last few survivors were withdrawn.
  8. Kings Cross. A 31 on a wet day heading in with what looks like a train heating van. Old and New at the Cross.
  9. I will not be able to post for a few weeks. Here are peaks at Temple Meads on an atmospheric summers evening. Will put up more pictures in a week or two.
  10. A 33/1 and a Welsh 37 heading into Bath Road. I seem to remember that south wales 37s were not a common sight at Temple Meads.
  11. A close call for you. I always went on Saturday afternoon too. Here is a view you will be familiar with
  12. I was never caught in that grim foot tunnel. were you? I once stopped for too long near to where that 37 was and was thrown out. I soon discoved the secret was to keep moving.
  13. I seem to remember walking down that platform and on the right was the stabling point and then further down the platform on the left is where the spotters were. It was a long time ago now. I just loved the smells and atmosphere on the railway then. A misty empty Stratford on a Saturday afternoon.
  14. Another Liverpool street memory for you. This is a special picture for me as it the first non 73,33 or 47 I ever saw. I caught the train to Victoria and the tube to Liverpool Street walked down the platform and saw 31160, took a picture and tried to print it and develop it myself at the age of 14. I didnt have much of an idea of what I was doing...but this was the result
  15. Thanks, they are not great quality compared to most that are posted on the forum. However hopefully they sometimes capture the atmosphere and trigger a few memories. Saturday morning, early 80s at Liverpool Street.
  16. Class 56112 at Worksop. This was a cop for the southern guy that had seen all the 73s and 33s, as it was vice versa for Northern folks coping 33s at Waterloo and the like.
  17. New Units at Clapham Junction with the leaky footbridge in the background. These were quite a novelty when they first arrived in the sea of slam doors.
