  1. Nicely done, when will we see NWR no 5 and no 2? Mike
  2. Thank you for all the help and I have bitten the bullet and bought a pack of couplings and hopefully will fit. As for fitting the chassis I took off the back sand boxes 1st,as there was no front ones on my mainline body. Then I cut off the plastic plank I will call it where you could fit the crew. I left the brake leaver and gear leaver in placed but did filed the bits of plastic around them a bit for them to fit. On the mainline body there are two screw holes for the chassis which I cut and filed to make them flush so the chassis could fit but it is a bit of a tight fit despite a bit more filling. The chassis would stay in place without needing to secure it but I did look at the back to drill a hole into the coal bunker but found the metal weight was under the coal bunker floor and despite drilling the screw would not tighten. So I drilled a small hole in the front chassis screw hole into part of front under the smoke box running plate floor, not a big one and used the screw from the mainline chassis which also hold the coupling in and used that to secure it. There is still a bit of a gap between the body and chassis, so going to put some black tac to hold it. The only other thing to do is put in a new cab floor.
  3. Hi All I bought off Ebay a Bachmann 56xx chassis as a replacement for mainline chassis which has burnt out. The only problem is to find couplings to fit in the chassis as Bachmann has stopped selling the one that should fit the chassis for a new ones but I am unable to find any info on which ones they should be. Can anyone help me please?
  4. Hi all, been talking with a few friends about light railways of standard gauge, and on about the locomotives used. Were tender engines a necessary for the railway to continue to function or a waste of money than the company buying big tank engines? Mike

  6. The part I'm having trouble with is the part where the two brass wire is join through the signals to the signals. I can't make out the parts clearly and which part of the kit they are from. As they are not numbered. If someone could highlight them on the photo of the parts.

  8. Hi all, I have got a a Hornby mk2 D Bso brake coach R4464 in swallow /executive livery. One thing I have notice and I think it a error on Hornby part as I have been unable to find a real photo of the coach. What I think is wrong with the coach is on two of the doors is emergency only and the other guard on one side of the coach but on the other side there is nothing also I think the door which say emergency only is supposed to be the guards door. Does anyone know if this just a error or was like it in real life? Thanks mike

  12. I know when I was helping out with a project of Swansea south docks. I know a fair bit of military items went through the docks, road transport like car etc as imports and exports, metals from ImI which was part of IcI, lew of the L&B left Swansea for Brazil, a funnel for TR was dropped off when their no4 trying out the Gisele funnels. Swansea did have some railway builders and might have sent stuff through the docks. Meat, flour, animal's, clothing items and materials, beer, wine spirits. Mike
  13. Hi all, I am trying to find some cab interior for two of my diesels in 00 gauge but found nothing. I am thinking of using a different class interior which would not look out of place. The ones I am looking for is Hornby railroad class 35 and Lima class 31,33. Thanks mike

  17. Hi all, I am looking to secure coach bogies to a carriages as the peg on the old bogies have broken off but the bogies are OK. I thought of drilling a new hole in the bogie and use screw, nut and washer. I know the hole is 8mm in diameter but unsure what screw to go for? Any help Mike
  18. Thanks I will have a look, the other problem is that it is a short coupling and they are ex mainline models. Which has a peg in the bogies and most likely the wizard models will be designed for the new one. Mike
  19. Hi All I have got 4 Bachmann mk1 carriages with commonwealth bogies which are the old type that were made in Hong Kong. I replaced the wheels with metal ones as the plastic ones were damaged. I gave them a run on my club layout and found that the swing was tight and caused them to derail. I decided to check the wheels movement as they seemed stiff and tried some oil but still found them to drag but derail even on their own. I was wondering what would be my best option in sorting them out? I thought about replacing the bogies but would have to drill a hole in the coach and screw them or can I sort out the bogies? Can someone tell me what I would need to do by showing me on the picture If I changed them which one to go for?
  20. There is a book called dinner in the diner by Neil Wooler. It explains a lot about food on the train. I know working in the heritage sector that a lot of food is prepared ready to cook on a dining train. Mike
