  1. Thanks for the advice, some great stuff on your thread I love the blood and custard coaches and I've got some second hand Ian kick carriages to tidy up. I haven't tended to find a step by step people tend to go huge leaps with pictures and no detail so yours is a big help. Glad you pointed out that the panelled and steel coaches have similar under carriage. I just ordered the books so I know what to look for now. It also makes sense of some of the etchings why there's both types of angle truss and turnbuckle. I reckon I'm gonna give it a bash. The steel panels seem a lot simpler than the panelled, my main concern was which way I fold the chassis and which one was which as I have two different for each carriage. Although there were no separate drop lights just du keys and door handles. Do think I need to order some bits like nuts and bolts. I'll work out how to do pictures and take it slow, I'm in no rush.
  2. Thanks for the replies. I had found the Kemilway manuals but they don't seem to relate to my etches. Mine are dated 1977 and have lots of slots and letters that aren't mentioned. I'm glad you agree about it probably being an artic unit. I had also found that book and a contents list of it and it made no mention of of either 51'0" carriages or diagram numbers 309 or 310 so I can't work out if it's appropriate
  3. Inspired by the topics on RMWEB I'm making my first foray into kit building so I've dugout some Kemilway etchings I purchased a few years ago in a fit of magpie fever. I have etches for CB 3LNER 51'0" Steel panelled lavatory composite, CB5 Brake third and CF1 &2. As far as I can work out its a twin set shown at the bottom of the page here http://www.steve-banks.org/modelling/197-gresley-51-1-1-2-steel-panelled-stock But I'm not sure, it would explain why a two coach kit has only four buffers and three bogie screws. Tbh I'm stuck and don't really know where to start, so far I've formed the tumble home on two sides, but I can't find instructions and I don't know which chassis is for which coach, I can't find the diagrams. I think the ends fold up on the chassis and the sides fold down. But that's about It. Any help would be appreciated, I am trying to upload pictures but it says their too big on my iPad and I can use a soldering iron.
  4. This is still available at this price from SCOGRAIL. I haven't found it cheaper anywhere else.
