  1. Hi Shaun, it all sits in perfect harmony and looks like its been there for ever brilliant. All the best Adrian.
  2. Hi Arrdvark, some thoughts on your roof, I think that 1mm might be a bit thin and will bow unless it is well braced 2mm grey board would reduce this risk, if you chamfer the bottom edge you will lose any thickness. when laying your strips of tiles start at the bottom and work up as any error in your strips will be covered by the ridge tiles, a dusting of artists chalks will take the edge off any newness . My apologies if I am teaching my grandma to suck eggs. All the best Adrian. https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/64587-westerham-and-beyond-the-bridge/page/113/
  3. Hi Shaun, the Acme instant product company are thinking about your design for the instant "Rosefirebaywillowweedage" device and will be approaching you for permission for a U.k patent. All the best Adrian.
  4. Hi Shaun, looking very good, I think that a little patience is a bit of off an understatement. All the best Adrian.
  5. Sorry for the delay I have been waiting for a bus to take me to the new bridge, none have turned up so I have had to walk to the construction site. It looks like it has been built using the scalescenes single track bridge as a guide but using 2mm greyboard as the main carcass and then covering it with plasticard brick, i think this will take the weight of several buses if one should ever turn up. Pictures of construction follow. All the Best Adrian.
  6. Hi Shaun, good to know that the fire is out and you are all safe, I think that sometimes it's easier to go with what you have got, rather than knock yourself out trying to build something that you have no real information about and you might not be happy with the end result. I like the idea of the lift off scenes. All the best Adrian.
  7. Hi, nice article and pictures, well done. All the best Adrian
  8. Hi, instantly recognisable well done, looking forward to progress as it happens. All the best Adrian.
  9. Hi Shaun, good to hear that you are all safe after that storm, and that no fires were started by it. A really nice set of pictures showing some interesting angles. All the best Adrian.
  10. Welcome back, a start at last on the new baseboard for the junction terminus out in the country. You will doubtless be pleased to know that the boiler box method of construction is going to be used once again, mixed with some hanging basket liner of the Jute type will form the basis of the chalk cutting. As I am making this bit of the layout up as i go along things may change at the moment I have a sort of plan in my head, which is probably not the best place to keep it but we will see how we get along. Some pictures of progress so far. All the best Adrian. Emerging from Westerham showing the old Ewer street sky. Jute hanging basket liner which will form the cutting, and a card mock up of a bridge to hide the hole. The sky backscene has been lowered, and a plywood former has been bent round to form the edge of the cutting. Card formers for the cutting. Slots cut out for the road. Trial fit of the road. Liner trial fitted. Liner trimmed back. Next bit will be building the bridge.
  11. Hi Chris, that is looking very good, one way to get things like chimneys square is to laminate several pieces of card to the required thickness and then cut them to the width that you need, if you find like me that you have a slight angle you can sand it square. All the best Adrian.
  12. Hi Multigauge, thanks for the updated pictures of the Metal Box Co, the phrase you Can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, springs to mind with what the developers have done to it. All the best Adrian.
  13. Hi Shaun, a great bit of modelling and very well observed weathering and general decay of the building. All the best Adrian.
  14. All this talk about life down under prompts me to show you what has happened down under on the old ewer street baseboard, it has been removed from its frame and turned over,, and what was down under has now become the top surface. Some pictures to show progress so far of what will become a country junction terminus with engine shed, coaling and water facilities. also a goods shed and cattle dock. All the best Adrian.
  15. Hi Ray, it was modelled on the one just on the approach to Ewer Street. All the best Adrian. This link may be of interest to you. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/g/goudhurst/
  16. Hi Multigauge, the main buildings of ewer street have been saved as they were not fixed, the only one that had to be destroyed was the grand vittesse canopies and platforms. The Thorburn and Baines low relief building is 4ft 6" long, whilst the Metal Box building is 3ft long.sundry other bits have been saved as well. What am I to do with them I have know idea, any suggestions welcome. All the best Adrian. Ps Westerham and Brasted stations escaped unharmed and are alive and well as you will see in future posts.
  17. Hi Tony, thanks for your support, it was not a easy decision but one that I had been thinking about for some time, I think that it had been contributing to my lack of interest in any modelling, and as you say it had been a good learning project which had been fun at the time, but the time to move on had come and the only way that any space could be found for something new was to demolish ewer street. All the best Adrian.
  18. Hi Ray, thanks for those images of your model of Hawkhurst it looks very impressive, it has lots of elements in it which have given me some idea of which direction I may take. All the best Adrian.
  19. Hi Fishplate, thank you for the Hawkhurst link that will be most useful, that is the sort of setting that I have been thinking about, with a element of Sandling Junction thrown into the mix. http://disused-stations.org.uk/s/sandling_junction/index.shtml Hop fields, and chalk downlands are in my mind at the moment but we shall see what develops. All the best Adrian.
