  1. We got our coal from BFL; ironically operating out of the old station coal yard at Pickering. I'm thinking maybe 4-6 wagons serving a small BFL coal yard or is that unrealistic?
  2. Hi Did the supply of coal for domestic use to local coal yards end with Speedlink? I know Whitby and Sleights lost their coal yards with the end of Esk Valley freight in ?1983 but did large town size coal yards maintain a supply until the end of Speedlink? I'm modelling sectorisation era to about 1994 so wondering if I can squeeze a wagon or two onto Speedlink services. Many thanks Matt
  3. I personally always felt it came across on the TV as Playtrains was Montana's creation and she was very much the force behind it. Now she's gone, maybe Playtains lost its champion.
  4. Definitely possible with the Hornby tooling to do the original Virgin XC launch set that had a buffer fitted PC at one end and standard PC at the other.
  5. The Intercity charter stock or 'special trains' as it was immediately before privatisation would be great, and something slightly different to. I've seen models people have converted to make up a set and it can look stunning with the white roofs.
  6. Definitely GWT 'Merlin' with the Intercity type, and original GNER power cars, and even the original early Virgin XC CrossCountry branded power cars.
  7. Given SK said last year was a catch-up year I'm expecting a significant announcement (caveat if new Hornby people don't go for Bachmann style seasonal announcements). Not a wish list but predictions... LNER current livery 225 set Final XC 125 Class 60 reduced to go after the competition ditto 31, 50 and 56 A 10 years since the "Great Goodbye" Dublo A4 set 156 return in Railroad More Limby 66s Networker in Railroad New tooling: A GWR loco An EMU - imagine something unexpected with limited routes like a 442 Mk3 Sleeper More Mk1s Maybe a 58 to keep Hornby in the new tooling freight diesel market A new small diesel or steam loco maybe a Class 06
  8. Sorry to be clear I meant GE was the first franchise to be re-branded from Intercity swallow to the IC derived GE livery while still being owned by BR, before being franchised in 1996 to National Express, in the same way as the trainload freight companies rebranded before the sale to what became EWS.
  9. Not a wish list but there are three 30th anniversaries next year: Channel Tunnel - ? A new train set standard Class 373 or e320. Load Haul, Mainline and TransRail all launched in 94 so maybe a run out of the locos in RailRoad or main range. Gatwick Express, the first none BR branded operator, another relivery for the Limby 73. Plus it's 100 years since the Wembley Empire Exhibition 2 of the locos that attended were Caerphilly Castle and.....Flying Scotsman and we know how they love it!
  10. I see these most weeks now, and the Nova 3s more often (for now) that livery of the Hornby model is IMHO wrong. The body sides are a silver grey not Hornby's white shade.
  11. Thanks I hadn't realised that....think a new toy might be heading to Pickering shortly then 😉
  12. Original Northern Spirit for me please, and also maybe a second run of the original Provincial livery please.
  13. Hi everyone, Did all the A4s end up being painted in express blue livery? I'm particularly interested in knowing if Australia, Eisenhower, Canada, Silver Fox and India did. Many thanks, Matt
  14. Can't justify it, wrong era, none mainline certified however... Having travelled behind the one on the NYMR a little as a kid and having a USA tank in the collection a way will be found to justify it somehow 😀 😄 😉
  15. Thank you, I missed that 😀
  16. Are the TT sets going to be despec'd like the OO sets. On Hornby A Model World the TT Pullmsns clearly had working table lamps but the Pullmans in the Scotsman sets are the brass effect lamps similar to the old OO Pullmans.
  17. I think it was Simon's OO tender drive, gold plated Scotsman
  18. So are the TT sets going to be like the OO sets as the early unpainted TT Pullmans clearly had lit table lamps and those in The Scotsman set have the brass effect like yhe older OO pullmans.
  19. Just unpacked my 92003, Beethoven, in the plain two tone grey. One word - wow!!! For a similar price to the Hornby 91 it's incredible, I'm beyond pleased with it, thank you Accurascale 😊
  20. I have a feeling a broken down cross country service might be headed by an NSE class 50 pushed into service. There must be a picture somewhere.... I know Hornby are a much bigger company with higher overheads etc but the difference in price for a higher spec new model versus a more expensive lower spec old model now is crazy.
  21. Probably a Bachmann body shell on a Lima chassis - very Hybrid I know but for what I want and need the best combination as I have a couple of old lima chassis and I'd pick up a Bachmann bodyshell on eBay as it would have lights ready fitted and be DCC ready. I'm concerned how easy it would be to make it work in the sense of pick ups etc
  22. Hi I have a complete IC225 set but don't plan on putting up OHLE for sometime. I'm planning on having a motor less Bachmann/Lima 47 at the front appearing to be hauling the set with in reality the 91 (new tool Hornby) providing the power. How easy would it be to fit sound and/or lights to the unpowered 47 and control it with dcc? As I say it would be there purely for cosmetic purposes and semi permanently coupled to the 91. Many thanks Matt
  23. I've seen an advert online Hattons have the XC Mk3s for £20 - £28, I'm not connected to the business just sharing the info if it helps anyone. Matt
  24. I didnt realise it was that old, it still feels really modern and contemporary even though it's 15 years since Silverlink's franchise ended.
