Well done everyone indeed.  Now I can stop modelling, gardening and doom-scrolling.

  2. Well the Churnet Valley Gala was worth the 300 mile round trip from Cardiff today :)

I was tempted, the Cale 0-4-4 looked very attractive, but someone said it had issues yesterday? :)

  4. Statfold on the morrow. Just the 17 locos in steam then....

  5. Right, time to start festive shopping. There must be a petrol station open somewhere.

  6. Eastern Black Redstart on Tewkesbury Abbey this afternoon. Very nice. Only 7 British records before this autumn's mini influx (4).

I'm sure that this means something to someone, but I'm afraid that that isn't me.

Tis a lost little bird, about Robin size....a new one for me :)

  7. Took my 9yo to a stage adaptation of "The Hunting of the Snark" this AM. Good fun. It did feature a knitting beaver, however. Supply your own punchlines......

I have to admit that I expected NZ to beat us. Only worrying thing is yet another batting failure for Morgan.

  10. Has just watched Mo Farrah and some others running past the end of our road, Horrible weather though

I always use binoculars. What magnification do you get with the tea cakes, and do you have to remove the wrapper?

  12. Just off to light a fire in a steam loco and raise steam for a days running. Something that used to happen all over Britain thousands of times a day for over 100 years. Apart from me, how many others will be lucky enough to do this on a Friday in early March, only a couple, I'd imagine?

Been there, done that. All of us who do (or in my case have) put the hours in are very fortunate in the return from our investment. I still miss it.

Went well. Trade fair for those that stock the gift shops at heritage railways to meet and place orders with the purveyors of assorted tat. Good fun, met and did shed tour for Chris Vine, writer of the Peter's Railway books, very nice chap.
