  1. Would be very interested in the 4mm furniture to add to your other items I have on 'Earl's Court ' How far away are they? Terry
  2. Here's one I made earlier! Converted from Lima 117 bodies some 6 or 7 years ago. Recently upgraded using a Hornby chassis. Undoubtedly the Dapol model will knock spots off of it but I doubt I'll change it. Great to see more models becoming available though. Terry 'Earl's Court' Model Railway ecmr.webs.com
  3. Lovely products. I'm delighted with my bits on 'Earl's Court' Terry
  4. I decided not to go for the London Road kits because I don't really like working in brass and the sides would need to be rolled very expertly to get the correct tumblehome. Also, the kit is £90.00 and doesn't included roof, underframe parts or bogies. What sort of quality would be expected from a 3D model? Can underframe, bogies etc. be produced? What thickness would the sides be around the window area? As you may gather, I don't really have much knowledge when it comes to 3D Terry
  5. Hi. My exhibition layout is 'Earl's Court' which includes 4 rail tracks. I have a GEC set (Dapol/Airfix Suburban coaches cut & shut etc.) plus a class 501 (modified 2-EPB) (See ecmr.webs.com for more details) I have been looking at the possibility of creating an Oerlikon set for some time. I have obtained 7mm drawings which were included within the Feb/Mar 1939 issues of The Model Railway Constructor. I have also collected many photographs of these units.....please note, there are variations/modifications to the units. I have also visited York to take some measurements of the Motor Car there. I have scaled the drawings to 4mm and re-drawn on the Silhouette Cameo software and I have just started to cut out the layers for the sides and ends. I am using a modified 2-BIL chassis. The roof will be from rolled brass. I am hoping to complete all the cutting soon and may get a chance to do some assembly over the Christmas break. I will post some photos over the next week or so, when cutting is complete. If things go well I may well offer cut ends, sides and partitions for sale. Terry
  6. Good news. See you at Wycombe! I'm there with 'Earl's Court' Terry
  7. Living in Witney I'm a regular at Howes, so will be a bit of a blow. I took the grandkids to Bourton on the Water a few weeks ago and thought the prices were reasonable. You're not going to buy at Hatton's prices but it's a good family run shop. I think there are restricted opening hours in the winter and it is part of the Model Railway Exhibition. Next stop for me would be Cheltenham Model Railway Centre. Terry
  8. Went in to Howes, Oxford yesterday for a re-blow of an 08 plus some other bits & bobs. They have 20% off most items (excluding ESU) so I succumbed and got John Hampden for £102.00!!!!!! Terry Earl's Court Model Railway ecmr.webs.com
  9. I love interiors!!!!!!! Here's some from 'Earl's Court' Terry ecmr.webs.com
  10. Many thanks Ian. I knew somebody would have the answer. Terry
  11. A little help please. When bought my Silhouette Cameo 9 months ago I found on this excellent thread info on how to change the default software measurements from inches to metric. I changed my laptop recently and reloaded the Silhouette Software but it has reverted to imperial. I've gone through page after page but can't find the instruction to convert to metric. Can anybody help?? Many thanks Terry
  12. Look forward to seeing you there. I'm there with 'Earl's Court' Terry
  13. The weathering is based on a photo of actual 64xx lined green locomotive. Terry
  14. Got around to weathering my green 64XX in time for Trainwest last weekend. Also crew, etched plates, lamp. Terry Earl's Court Model Railway ecmr.webs.com
  15. A couple of pictures attached. Constructed using Airfix/Dapol Suburban coaches. Cut into 'a million' pieces and glued back together again. The Motor Coach is a scale 2ft longer, as per the real thing. Ends are Comet LMS Driving Trailer ends, with the centre window filled in. Always creates interest at exhibitions, although some people assume that it is some sort of Southern 3 rail set. Terry
  16. I will be buying a couple of the Hornby coaches for use on 'Earl's Court'. They look excellent models. However, I think it is all too easy to criticise older models when they have given many modellers years of good use. I have used the Airfix/Dapol as the basis for many projects, including my ex LMS GEC EMU. Attached are 3 pictures showing conversions using Airfix/Dapol coaches. (Sorry about the photo quality). All have been converted to non-lavatory and altered using my own resin castings or 'cut & shut' using parts from donor coaches. Roof alterations have also taken place plus all are flush-glazed and resprayed. I've also created a push/pull coach. No photo on file for that! If you want to buy a coach, take it out the box and put it behind a loco that's fine. Personally, my enjoyment is in detailing, weathering and, wherever possible, taking out my hacksaw and creating something a bit different. As modellers I feel we are extremely lucky compared to a generation ago. More models, much better quality. But let's not 'rubbish' everything that went before. Terry 'Earl's Court' ecmr.webs.com
  17. This is mine, straight out of the box, on 'Earl's Court' at the East Anglian/St Neot's show this weekend. Purchased from Lord & Butler Saturday morning. Will have the airbrush/dry brushing/powders on it before my next booking at Trainwest, Melksham. Nice model. Didn't really need one but, as I was a loco down on Saturday morning, I bought it. 20. Many thanks for your help. Followed your instructions and completed the task. Regards Terry
  21. Hi Jason I recently bought a Silhouette Cameo. What a fantastic machine and the software is so easy to use. I followed your 'coal office' post instructions for my first effort. I just wanted to say how much that helped and to thank you for the fantastic posts you have made on this forum. The only thing I can't work out at the minute is that all my on screen measurements are in 'inches' (I have downloaded your template and ruler though, which is proving very useful. My instructions for the machine say that if I go file-preferences then I can alter the on-screen measurements from mm to inches. However, when I click 'file' I don't have a 'preferences' option. Once again, many thanks. Terry 'Earl's Court' model railway. ecmr.webs.com
  22. I've got copies of the bogies, underframe details etc. and I have decided to take the plunge. I'm going to try and produce some resin castings for the bogies. I hoping to have a bit of time around the second week in November and I will start having a go then. I may also have a go at the various underframe fittings as well. Terry
  23. I usually go to the Cheltenham show, as long as it doesn't clash with an exhibition booking. Nice little show. Hopefully will get a chance to see you there. Terry
  24. Saw a pre-production sample at Howes today. Looks an absolute stunner! Terry 'Earl's Court' ecmr.webs.com
