hi stormbreaker The v mentioned is for the version of decoder not the tractor sub class stormbreaker . most sound projects are v4 put on a v5 chip at the minute anyway but swd does a mean 37 motor sound on a v4 chip with u drive so Id guess the u drive v5 is the newer incarnation with light/heavy mode as well as more brake functions and polyphonic stuff as std . the v4 might need to be updated on a lokprogrammer to get the braking feature to work and you would also need to use an air blast or wheel flange for the braking noises too as early swd projects did not get braking as std as it was an downloadable upgrade a while back now . Have a look at swd (south west digital) website for function list and u drive features b4 you make your choice buddy hope that helps.
