  1. I think it would only work with P4 standards due to the height of the rail head. I think point work would be possible although I have not thought too much about the design yet.
  2. My BR black early crest arrived on Saturday I have not really looked at it in detail or run it but the cab was not fixed on correctly one side I have managed to press home but the other side may need tweaking, If I can fix it then its going back.
  3. As a replacement for Eileen's we also have Squires/South Eastern Finecast also attending that also needs to be added to the list above. David

  6. There are two bank holidays in the UK in May. Railex in Aylesbury is the last weekend. We hope to go live in the next week on the website.
  7. If anyone is interested, I am doing a talk on the early years of the Wycombe Railway on 11 November details below. David https://histfestbucks.co.uk/whats-on/the-early-history-of-the-wycombe-railway/
  8. Most of the GWR type 5 signal boxes had a combined porch and toilet like this one at Wheatley. Generally, these boxes were constructed entirely in blue brick laid in Flemish bond. David
  9. Railex in Aylesbury is going ahead at Stoke Mandeville stadium on the last weekend in May hopefully we will get details up on the web soon. But plenty of high quality layouts are confirmed.
  10. The Risborough and District Model Railway club were manning the bring and buy stand.
  11. After setting up last night I got home and felt unwell, so did a covid test only to find out I have a positive result so I won’t be doing a demo this weekend.
  12. I will be there a demo on using Fusion 360 for 3d printing and laser cutting, if you have any questions please come along and have a chat.
  13. I was thinking the best way to make GWR bulk road trackwork, I wanted something simple so have been playing with 3D printing track which has all the sleeper, rail packing etc., code 75 bullhead rail is then slid into the 3D printed bases, sections can be jointed together using fishplates on the rail which are hidden inside the printed bases.
  14. I understand what bridge rail looks like, the Broad Bauge society sell it, but it does not have bolt detail, also being wider than high tents to bend up and down rather than side to side. My idea is to use bullhead rail on copperclad get it working, then use 3D printed half bulks that glue either side to give the appearance of bulks, rail bottom flange and timber packing.
  15. That is flat bottom looking for Bullhead profile, although the idea is to use it to model GWR bulk road.
  16. Has anyone got a drawing of code 75 rail giving dimensions. David
  17. In the latest MRJ there are a couple of short articles on Paul Karau's model of Henley one of the entrances to the station and the other on the platforms with a couple of very nice photos of the model. Many years ago, I laser cut the window frames for Paul for his model of Henley signal box, and these were in very thin paper, these were the earlier windows rather than the later replacement five pane type. David
  18. I am a bit late to this but the vast majority of GWR type 5 signal boxes were built in blue brick, I would say as least 95% of the ones I have checked, and this is all over the Great Western system from London to Cornwall, I expect the blue bricks gave more strength, although the type 7 boxes which came later were in red brick. David
  19. I wondered if I converted an image to black and white I could get that period feel. The white diamonds on the bufferbeam are thought to add visibility to approching trains a bit like wasp stripes on a 08, I think that they do stand out.
  20. Many thanks for all the info, I probably need to get to the National Archives I was the a long time ago when it was called the Public Record Office. I remember last time I had to be focused and not get dragged down some other rabbit hole that looked interesting.
  21. That's really useful, Railway Terrace directly by the old station has not one person listed which is railway employee, so Railway Place seems the area maybe some of the employees lived. Could you look who is listed at the Railway Tavern and the Prince of Wales pub.
  22. How do I go about looking for details on the 1861 census, I would like to find out who was the station master and other railway workers at High Wycombe in 1861 and where they lived. When I put it into Google is send me to various commercial web sites like ancestry, as I don't know names yet I want to search on addresses can this be done? David
