As no one has mentioned the Kyodo signals made in Japan and marketed by Lemaco I thought I’d post these pictures. I’m pretty sure they’re not available anymore and I’ve had them years and can’t remember where I got them from. Looks like I’ve got enough for a decent sized layout . -

I’m a bit further on, I’ve got a bit of stock and even half a dozen light signal. (N gauge) Hopefully I’ll be able to get away with traditional baseboards rather than open frame one.😉 -

Whats your opinion on Dutch layouts? -
Actually Kirkenes is the port where the ship turns round and heads back but the most northerly port is Honningsvag. Beautiful journey, lucky enough to have made it a few times.

I’ll be using Mafen signals on my layouts. They do have an incredible range. Got Swiss and Dutch ones in store for when a layout finally gets built. -

Very similar to my journey. Started off with British N gauge in particlular Minitrix but after a few Lima and Grafar purchases I just bought Minitrix and soon moved off to the dark side European models. I have recently ( last 10 years) bought a bit of British stuff but its too late to change and I must admit that I enjoy European railways. Perhaps surprisingly our continental club layout was positioned right opposite the entrance when we took it to TINGS a number of years ago. -
Our pre-cruise logistics not going too well, been to Meadowhall three times in the last week and have lost count of the number of parcels that have been received (and returned).

When we went the station at Wassen was closed because their timetable was so intense there were no paths for local stopping train. There was a parallel bus service up to Goschenen which we used for our return. I’m not sure if the station is open or is due to reopen due to more paths being available due to most trains now taking the base tunnel route. Robert

Great pictures and certainly brings back memories. We regularly holiday in Interlaken/Wilderswil (for the Schynige Platte Bahn) and have visited most of the places on your itinerary and have had stayed twice in Andermatt. We walked down from Andermatt all the way to Wassen and spent a couple of hours taking pictures and watching the trains go by and got talking to an enthusiast from the Czech Republic whilst in the church yard there.

The comment below is interesting, saying that it is noticeable that the locomotives stop smoking when they leave the tunnel implying that the smoke is due to incomplete combustion of the fuel. Does seem a logical explanation.

No, no , no need for the scepticism, some of the money has been well spent here (Barnsley) but I’m not sure how much is left now.

Not the same class of loco but similar source and period. If you watch it to the end there are three locomotives banking, I wouldn’t want to be in charge of them.

A big thanks to all involved in the exhibition, the exhibitors, traders and all those who attended. Hopefully we see you all again next year and if you enjoyed it, tell your friends! Further news on the Yorkshire Coast Electric Tramway, it will not be going out as it was presented at the weekend. Steve, not exhibition manager Steve, is contemplating changing from live overhead power to two rail in order to improve reliability. The overhead wire is very fine and the contact area with the trolley pole wheel is minute and the wire is very sensitive to changes in temperature and therefore tension. I know this sounds a little defeatist but it was very stressful on Saturday trying to get it to run as it should. All I can say to those wanting to see it or book it watch this space. Thanks again for your support. Robert
