  1. Thanks for resurrecting my dormant blog post guys.

Just as an update, I polished off the P17 with Precision freight grey (spray can) and CCT transfers (set C89 for the Cambrian GWR wagon kits).

You can see the fruits of efforts  here with a Kernow 1361, Coopercraft 02 7-plank open, and a Hornby AA15 toad rebadged into post-1936 livery, and allocated to Cardiff.

  2.  Then common sense steps in and says as soon as I do it Bachmann will announce a retool of the ex mainline model to modern standards anyway.......

This is a really interesting project and right up my alley. The above comment re: Bachmann may well come to pass due to the law of sod, however given the current gestation times at Barwell for new product I think we would be knocking on the door to 2020 before we saw any shiny new sunshine stock. They would be very useful however because Sunshine stock of all diagrams seem to proliferate throughout a lot of images from 1946/1947.

I am currently try to pick up my stalled Comet sides/Bachmann donor project for Sunshine coaches, and a E158 composite is second in the queue. The D124/D127 brake thirds are widely seen in images of the period too, so they will go on my list in time.

Perhaps I'll start a blog too?

    Cheers,

  3. Hi,

I am currently attempting similar RTR conversions with Comet sides and so have been following your blog with both admiration and interest.

I am practically a beginner when it comes to working with brass, therefore may I ask what you use for the door hinges, and how do you go about affixing them to the side? Do you 'slot' the holes, and if so, what implement do you use?

I am currently in the early stages of overlaying Comet sides for the C70, C73 & E152 diagrams onto the Bachmann sunshine coaches, which will hopefully give my rakes some much needed variety!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Jon
