£756 for OO Slaters kits of a GWR Toplight E88 (£250), Toplight D47 (£206) and Toplight C28 (£300)... I think I'll need to spend a very long time lying down in a dark room!!

I don't usually condone chequebook modelling but I've felt grotty for a week and have treated myself.

There's no chicken on sale at KFC !

Would you like some parmesan on your toad sir?

I notice that there's a lot of GWR Shunters Trucks in various sales. How many would I therefore need for a prototypical rake? 15 or so?

Mum has got terminal liver cancer. She has not long left. I feel dreadful right now.

It's been a day of rolling stock arrivals today...

Can't believe the NRM has just given the LSWR T3 4-4-0 to the Swanage Railway! What else is up for grabs?!
-
If you are going to be building coach and wagon kits, and be messing about with brass, plasticard and lost wax, does one need a Dremel?

Despite vowing never to rebrand another Hornby great crest western model, I seem to have bought another King James

There is now a Q6 on the Great Western Railway. The art of seduction.
-
Just seen Hornby's 60066 RRP has now risen to £175.99 DCC READY, and they wonder why less people are buying stock brand new?
-
My Swindon proclivities were almost seduced by the Crewe and Doncaster persuasions at Grosmont on Sunday!
-
Vacillated on buying some beautiful kit built GWR 70 footers on eBay, and now they've gone! They were £300 for three though...

The Queen is wearing a malachite green outfit for Trooping the colour.

Has caved and bought a new Hornby King for a bargain price. Do I still want my two on pre-order from Hattons? You bet!

Had a fantastic day riding behind the Flying Scotsman on the NYMR yesterday. Where else could you be pulled by a Gresley A3 pacific and banked by a Stanier Black 5 up a 1 in 49? Tremendous.

Barry - Scotsman failed on the 9:30am off Grosmont with a vacuum brake problem, and whilst they sorted it at the shed for the much delayed 12:30pm off Grosmont (left at 1:30pm!) they had the Black 5 bank her up to Goathland 'just in case' it happened again, which it didn't. Result being that 60103 gave a stirring solo run from Goathland up to the summit! Just a superb day.

is watching "The Estate We're In" which involves the demolition of the West Hendon Estate, moving out all the poor people, and building expensive flats for rich foreign investors, one of whom happens to be a family friend who now owns about three expensive flats in this area. Isn't social cleansing wonderful? #barratthomes

Very tempted by Hornby's reduced LMS suburbans, but a) I intend to model a secondary GWR mainline and b) It's December so I'm largely skint...
-
Something quite poignant about Hornby selling off their GWR Colletts in the Black Friday sale. They've been a stalwart of the range for 30 odd years, but we all know what's trundling towards us over the (Western) horizon...

Tonight I treated myself to some Stollen.Never too early in my opinion.

It's a little known fact that one of my top 10 things on my bucket list to attend Stollenfest in Dresden! http://www.dresdnerstollenfest.de/en/home
