  1. Rich, I have no hands on experience of the deluxe materials brush magic but I seem to recall seeing a review on one of the modelling magazines attached DVDs where it was used to soak a dismantled airbrush. I believe it can be returned to it's bottle post soak prolonging it's life and making it more economical. I have no link to the company but have used other products from their ranges and I am more than satisfied with them. Here's a link I found to their website, I'm sure others outlets will stock it. https://www.deluxematerials.co.uk/gb/rc-modelling/20-brush-magic-5060243901354.html Hope it helps. Jason
  2. I am not a regular poster but I found the old thread helpful, being a relative newcomer to the hobby the discussion often helped in confirming whether a product was a bargain and a good investment or not. I don't know how funding and hosting of forums work so it may not be possible, however, similar to Banger Blue's suggestion, a section under the 'trade & products zone' or 'modelling zone' titled 'bargains' or similar could be added so it's visible from the home page. Within this section a topic can be created with a title of 'product name, scale and price'. The first post can include where the bargain is and more important information the finder feels is important such as quantities etc. This way someone who is interested can then view the thread and decide whether it's for them or not, and if anybody wishes to add to the bargain or discuss it further they can do below. I feel that this would give a quick bargain directory where if you are interested you can have a closer look, if not, skip on by to the next. I am unsure as the whether you can get alerts for new threads or not, if not this was a wasted post and I apologise, and if it will incur excessive hosting costs making it unfeasible, again, I am sorry. I believe this is a similar set up to the old sales and want a section... and hopefully little to no baby sitting by mods post initial setup. Jason Edited to correct 'zone' names
  3. I have been looking at back scenes recently too. I believe from what I have seen, that ID backscenes 'Hills & Dales' 207 series has A,B,C & D options, each one I believe links with the next and each one measures 10 ft by 15" high. With these you have the option of several combination such as A,B,C or C,D,A...or atleast I think this is how they link together in that A connects with D making a large 40ft circle in effect. Hope this helps, my understanding may be wrong but that is what I understand from my looking around and comparing the example images online. Jason
  4. I have not personally tried this, however, there seems to be good results being reported in this thread, not sure how available a suitable coloured sharpie is though to make this possible... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/123078-removing-printed-decals-with-sharpie-permanent-markers/&do=findComment&comment=2735201 Hope it helps, Jason
  5. Another satisfied customer here. I'm only part way through my first locomotive kit and I am modifying bits as I go slowing me down. I will definitely be buying more to 'bash' once I have a little layout sorted for this one. I find it fun to have the freedom to build and change them about a bit without trying to replicate and match an exact prototype. I'd say treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.
  6. I have wanted a new DCC control system for a while after breaking my eLink. Having researched my options i was still undecided but was heading towards an NCE Powercab. Having visited the digitrains website several times and having read about their test track i felt i had to make a visit. I was in lincoln today so made a visit to the shop. I was greeted instantly in a polite, friendly manner, which was refreshing to say the least. After explaining my situation the friendly staff (unfortunately i didnt catch their names, sorry) instantly powered up their test layout and placed the powercab in my hand. The staff were very knowledgeable and answered every question posed and demonstrated what they were saying on the equipment. I had a good hands on play with the powercab and after about an hour in the store playing/learning and browsing their extensive stock i walked away the happy owner of a shiney new powercab. Its just a shame i have to wait until my birthday to install it So, basically, this shop is a one stop DCC shop with all the help you could ever require given by polite, informative people, and at no point were there any pushy sales pitches, just clear advice. 5 stars all around.
  7. Zero Gravitas, Thanks for this, i really do need to invest in the lifecolor weathered wood set. I've been mixing my own light browns and greys which i felt were looking almost right, but these colours seem to harmonise together which i've struggled with achieving. Thanks again and I hope you get somewhere with your decal request. Jason
  8. I thought it was my mobile handset or wireless router playing up, however, every other page i've tried is loading as always. I gave in trying and ill try again tomorrow. The hattons.co.uk homepage loaded fine though. Jason Edit: All pages selected on hattons.co.uk loaded fine, hopefully this version of the site will help those who want to view their stuff tonight/tomorrow.
  9. Thanks for the reply, David Todd has linked to the competition announcement in his post which outlines the different categories within the loco build competition. Here is a different link to where all of the entries are being posted so you have an idea as what other people are upto... http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/261-rmwebbrm-build-a-loco-challenge/ If you entered I think it'd be great advertising to other RMWeb-ers for your layout which can only be a good thing as its truely inspirational. RMWeb seems to be an enormous source of brilliance and its often hard to find the time to read through it all. I first stopped by your thread as i recognised the name from Youtube and im kind of hooked. Also, back to your tamper, there doesnt seem to be many modern image entries so it will add a nice dash of colour and variety to the competition keep up the good work mate. Jason
  10. Hi Terry, Been lurking in the shadows for a while watching your layout develop. I like reading your thread then catching up on youtube to see things in motion. Will the Tamper be entered into the RMWeb loco build competition? Keep up the good work, im heading back into my shadow to paint some rails and sleepers Jason
  11. Had a good look around this great little shop today. A good variety of railway kits from a wide variety of manufacturers. A good range of tools, scenic items and the often hard to find ranges of scratch builders items (I beam, L section, sheet material etc) in plastic, various metals and wood. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit in my opinion. I made a few little purchases to keep me busy over the next few weeks doing some detail work. It also has a good range of none railway related plastic kits and diecast vehicles for those with a variety of hobbies and interests. Long live the local model shops Jason
  12. Ah fantastic news about Abingdon As a 4mm modeller one of the small huts shown on page one and on your website are what im after ... for now anyway. If i don't end up with a mess of brass that would be more at home in the Tate Modern than on a layout, with burnt and/or glued fingers I will definately look into one of the 4mm signal boxes as the 2mm ones look stunning. I will look forward to visiting your stand on Saturday and see these mini-masterpieces in the flesh. Jason
  13. Good evening Severn, I am very impressed with your kits, they look fantastic and seem ideal for me to start cutting my teeth on brass etched kits. I have been viewing your website and the exhibition calendar page shows that you are attending abingdon next saturday (28th). Whilst reading this thread however, it seems that you are no longer able to attend this show and your next outing is the Leamington & Warwick one the weekend after. Is this the case? If i cant pick one up at a show ill place an order online instead. I am really looking forward to giving one of these ago and I hope not to destroy such a fantastic looking kit. Jason
