  1. https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/13061245/lewis-hamilton-to-join-ferrari-for-2025-formula-1-season WTF! Hamilton to Ferrari! Had to check it wasn't April 1st
  2. My 97 will have to go back to. Something wrong with the l/h motion that's pulling the motion bracket back and forth and straining the pins. Also the top part of the motion is catching the underside of the body on corners. I've sent a quick video. But it's a lovely model.
  3. The only cordless impact driver I've ever needed.
  4. If only, it's on the rolling road at the moment.
  5. I had to crop the picture due to the swearing from my eldest, but he was correct in his analysis. All that time and money for what?
  6. I had a look at the exploded diagram and I think the return crank just pops into the wheel with what looks a bit like a split arrow head. The arrow head as it were stops it popping out. When the return crank moves out of position I think it's pulling on the eccentric rod and jamming the expansion link. Once its nudged back it runs ok until it moves again.
  7. Does anyone know how the return cranks are located? I can see mine moving which in turn causes a tight spot. A gentle push back to the right position and it runs perfectly.
  8. We sometimes get something similar and it's usually a text message sent to our land line. We registered our number with the telephone preference system and went ex directory which has really cut down on cold calling.
  9. And against this the UK/USA governments are quietly bringing Lakenheath back to nuclear base. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-68129189
  10. Not that I'm aware of. The back of the light cluster is in the engine bay. They also used to have a cover at the bottom of the bell housing so you could drop the clutch out without removing the gearbox. Some bright spark also decided the slave cylinder would be better in the bell housing on the latest versions. It's a gearbox and subframe out to replace it!
  11. I think there was a comment on Jeremy Vines programme today along the lines of we are essentially in the same world status/crisis as in1937. We all know what happened next and it appears that humanity hasn't learnt the lessons As a father of two teenage boys it fills me with dread.
  12. I had the same problem with my 2014 Astra. Remove cover, out with inspection mirror. Two small torx screw to loosen off. So handstand into the engine bay using the mirror, everything is now backward. Manage to get it out, but had to remove bottle washer spout in order to get the new bulb back in. Having psoriasis on your finger tips makes it painful and awkward. Drivers side is worse as the air filter is in the ways. Again a handstand into the engine bay is required. What should be a 5 minute job took an hour. Don't get me started on replacing the fan or lambda sensors!
  13. Finally got around to dcc fitting my DG. I've had it since they first came out. Turned out to be a marathon. I'm using a Hattons 8 pin decoder. Firstly I had to file down the supports that hold the pcb as there wasn't enough room for the plug to sit in the pcb and get the tender body on. Then it ran like a bag of nails. I had run it in. The wheels were wonky so straightened those out. The motor was sitting crooked and sits high so the universal doesn't align nicely. The holes in the centre of the rods are so big they pop out over the crankpins. When it does run the axles pull together so the centres change. I suspect the quartering is out. Question is are the later ones any better or is it time to give up.
  14. As did the copper cap. A friend of mine had the job of knocking the dent out.
  15. Pretty sure. It's quite a tight shot. Caught both Prost and Senna after the overtake. The concertina effect makes them look closer together. And then Damon Hill.
  16. And it will be 30 years this May since that awful Imola weekend.
  17. If I remember correctly he had just passed both Williams. You could see from the brake disc glow that he was on the brakes much much later. Really didn't appreciate it until we saw in on the TV when we got home. Murray called it the best opening lap he had ever seen. So glad to have seen it happen as Senna was dead within 13 months.
  18. You just know cash will become crap or crash
  19. The late Aryton Senna approaching the hairpin at Donnington on lap 1.
  20. I apply the same set of rules when the better half enquires about the DIY that needs doing!

    On Cats

Must be getting some F1 type rear end down force with that tail.
  22. What is it with street circuits. They are mostly boring. A local radio station reported that the British GP was going to take place around the Oxford ring road in the mid 90s. My rather thick charge hand at the time got over excited. I had to point out it was April 1st! I suspect RB would love a race around the concrete cows in Milton Keynes.
  23. Or the GWS will buy it for its boiler and create a Star from the remains of Thornbury Castle.
  24. They had two Hall's for a short period and look what happened there.
  25. Not much to report. I've added another layer of ply to the baseboard tops just to beef things up a bit. That's meant all my marking out has gone. I haven't been idol. I've fitted digital readout to my small milling machine. This will help immensely when I come to mill the walls and window aperatures for Arley Box. I've drawn it out on graph paper, but it needs a bit more work. Lastly a bit of planning on the other board. I was aiming for something like Didcot shed, but as always space is an issue. So I've had a look through my GWR engine shed book and come up with Westbury as inspiration. Given Westbury was my Great Grandfather's home shed and where my Mum's side of the family come from it's a good compromise. I will have to do away with plans for a lifting shop and compress it somewhat. The only niggle is viewing the back of the Coaling Stage.
