  1. I listed that for sale months ago and had forgotten it was on Buy & Sell! PM sent to you Neil.
  2. Yes I've seen a lot of Steve's work on this and other forums. Ideally I'd like to take a complete RTR loco out of the box, ask my nephew to put a dcc decoder in then run it. The 3d bodies look excellent, but at 80 and with arthritic fingers the fettling needed to marry up a chassis then paint and line the body is beyond me. George
  3. LNER B12 LNER G5 LNER J50 LNER J52 LNER J72 LNER N2 LNER N7 Having just removed a Dapol B1 from its box to find that the glue which was fixing the valve gear to the bodyshell had given up, can we please have valve gear that is attached to the chassis block. An easily removable loco body would help. If so then can you produce these for me please LNER V1/3 LNER D49 No hurry George

I've had more time to inspect my example, and can see the same issue with the windscreen, but to a lesser extent. The side windows don't have this problem, so I wonder if its similar to the prismatic effect on the new Mk1 coaches available from another N gauge manufacturer. I've not removed the glazing, but it appears that the glazing plastic does not meet the bodyshell at 90 degrees? My Physics master would have me in detention for forgetting this, but refraction springs to mind? Anyway a Digitrax DZ125IN fits no problem. Running was very smooth if a tad noisy, but it only has a length of flexi track to run along at the moment, and the oil may not have yet reached all the gear teeth. Paintwork is top notch, nice sharp lines to the yellow edges and a nice colour consistency. When running on DC the lights were bright before the loco moved, and on DCC they were very bright. No damage to the motive units / coaches, but other than being sent to the retailer is has not been through the postal sorting system. Overall a very happy Dapol HST owner. Looking forward to the 26, 52 and whatever else will go with the LNER tender

Comparison - 1st run Mk3 vs one form the HST book set. Can you tell which is which?

Anyone know if retailers have got stocks of the original blue/grey livery yet?
  8. Looks like an 0-6-0 to me? http://www.lnwrs.org.uk/GoodsLocos/ex016.php
  9. Well spotted - its 2011 this year! I think I might be suffering from early stages of dementia.
  10. Just placed an order with Colin. Good news if that the prices have not gone up with the VAT increase (though as its his first day of trading since the increase maybe he has not adjusted them yet). Anyway the new loco for 2012 2011 will be......(drumroll) an LNWR Cauliflower.

I'm sure some photos will appear here as soon as they are received - maybe one or two dyed in the wool diesel fans have already placed orders George
  12. Just got my hands on Lady of the Lake and a J39 now both fitted with DCC. Apparently there is enough room above the motor on the J39 and the D20 to fit a Digirax DZ125IN decoder. The pins need to be unsoldered and the red, black grey and orange wires soldered in their place. The D11 and J11 tenders are smaller so the decoder is attached to the inside roof of the tender just above the drive worm, the the wires are tucked inside making sure they don't foul the gears. My nephew has made a cradle out of lolly pop sticks which holds the tender just at the right height to solder the wires. I've been told that i must not take the tenders apart so sorry no photos. George
  13. Now that totally transforms the loco. Are they transfers or freehand? If they were freehand then how did you do it? Hopefully I should have my D11 running under DCC by tomorrow night.
  14. My LNER "Lady of the Lake" has arrived, and having had a quick look under the tender body I think that a Digitrax DZ125 will fit without any modification to the structure. I also prefer the simple wiring compared to some locos - much easier to remove the wiring and replace it with my own (or rater my nephew, as he has much better soldering skills). I also received an up to date price and availability list. I'm tempted to reduce my diesel fleet and model an LNER branchine. Apologies for the poor lighting, the layout is in the loft and its either too dark in the corners or too bright under the Velux windows. George.
  15. I've just ordered one of the LNER Directors, along with Mr B's DCC fitting guide. The LNER liveried ones are named "Lady of the Lake" and "Princess ******" (someone, I have forgotten it already). Hopefully it should be here within a day or two so I'll post some photos. LNER liveried locos (B12, J39 and Q2) are out of stock with a new run due in August. George
  16. Does anyone have a list of locos currently available or an email address for Colin? Also do any Union Mills loco have room for a decoder in the tender? I've got a J11 with a decoder in the cab, and a D20 which will probably be chipped using the same method, but I'd prefer a more elegant solution. George
  17. Planning my new N gauge layout

  18. The penny has finally dropped - now I know where Messers Clarkson May and Hammond got the body shape from for their Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust. Its a class 70 with a longer snout!
  19. Any chance of a Minitrix A4 or Ivatt 2-6-0 - is there room in the tenders? Or does anyone know of a web site with photos without the bodyshells on, or the instruction sheets?
