  1. Thank you for the info Stovepipe. Looking again at my photo of D1974, I notice that the trees in the background are in full leaf, so it was definitely not taken at the time it was built 11-65 or the winter months just after. As you say, it may have indeed been back to works for rectification. Taking into account my photos of the Clayton and B1, I'm now sure that photos on my roll of film were taken in from early to late June 1966
  2. Hi Using the internet I am trying to identify dates that I took photos, my records long since lost. I have found a strange paradox on a roll of film I took in the mid 1960s. I have a photo of A4 60009 and Clayton D8613 taken in Aberdeen Ferryhill shed. The Clayton way transferr to Haymarket along with others from Barrow Hill 28 May 1966. 60009 was withdrawn on 1 June 1966 and it looks like the photo was taken after withdrawal. Also on the film strip is B1 61008 with a 65A shedplate. This was reallocated to 66E Carstairs on 13 June 1966. So, This data suggest that the photo was taken after 28 May 1966 and before 13 June 1966. However, towards the end of the film roll is a photo of D1974 which looks brand new. This was released to traffic on 13 November 1965 which conflicts with the above dates! I wonder if D1974 had beeen back in the works? Anyone any idea about this? PS the photos are definitely on the same film roll
  3. Here is a photo of Upperby Carriage sheds on 19 March 2016 shortly before they were demolished. Most of the roof on the left hand side of the building was taken down many years before.
  4. There were carriage sheds at Upperby, only recently demolished
  5. 73009 is brand new, only a few weeks since it was built 31 July 1951..
  6. I have a photo with them being used with Class 17 Clayton at Tyne Dock
  7. I have been scanning in more photos taken around 1966. Can anyone conform the locations. I have 61008 as at Aberdeen and 60019 at Perth. Thanks
  8. Penrith has a small ruined castle opposite the station
  9. They definitely made it to Carlisle. Just after some were transferred from Stratford I saw quite a few of them double headed on freights which arrived in Carlisle each evening around 2130 some still wearing 30A shed plates. I reported this fact to Trains Illustrated which appeared in Motive Power Miscellany
  10. Both came down the Caley and through the station as they were treated as express trains, and were followed by the up Condor
  11. From the October 1970 Railway Observer. D6774, hauling a coal train towards Tyne Yard, ran into D6773, stationary on another freight train, at Hawthorn Quarry near Sunderland on 14 August 1970. Both locomotives were derailed and badly damaged. Both were rebuilt with central 'boxes and roof mounted horns.
  12. The skyline has now changed for J8813.jpg. The central hotel above the front of 87034 has now been demolished.
  13. Aye, I was a Carlisle lad and went round all the sheds there at least 4 times a week.
  14. Photos definitely not taken at Kingmoor, no chimneys like those shown there
  15. Kingmoor moved from Scotttish Region 68A to LMS Region 12A in January 1958
  16. Kingmoor asked if they could have the Polmadie Clans when they were withdrawn, but the request was refused
  17. I can tell you were not around in the 1960s to see the original blue pullman with white window area...... and without a yellow front
  18. Not Carlisle, no over bridges like that there..
  19. I have a photo of it still in green taken in August 1966
  20. Do you know if you can take photos at Westbury station at the moment without having a ticket?
