  1. Looks like a great book. I look forward to seeing it when published. When will it be available?
  2. Alan Jenkins at MIB Models in Porthcawl would be a good bet too.
  3. I managed to sell a copy of Seventies Spotting Days Around the Western Region for £47 on Ebay, and another damaged copy for £31. So obviously when they get sold out they become very collectible. Good luck with the sales.
  4. Same here. I am pondering buying one but can't get top a model shop to see them run.
  5. Funnily enough Mark that's one of my favourite DVDs. Tony
  6. I can thoroughly recommend this book. All B&W photos but a fine work depicting the area in the early days of diesels. A few blue ones make an appearance but mainly shown are green diesels , a lot without even warning panels. I think (haven't checked) all the photos are credited to Dr Ian C Allen, a quite a few have been seen previously in his 1980s book Diesels in East Anglia. This is a bit of a treasure trove for a much neglected area in railway photography. There are great shot of a loco hauling just a couple of wagons, an this is brilliant inspiration for the railway modeller. Tony
  7. I understand from Alan at MIB models that this show has now been cancelled. Tony
  8. I understand from Alan at MIB models that this show has now been cancelled. Tony
  9. Good news. Any idea of what layouts will be there? Tony
  10. No Pontypridd Show this April but we'll hopefully be back next year. Tony
  11. Excellent show again. Well done to Paul and Brian , and Peter from Lord & Butler for putting on such an event. Quality of layouts was excellent. And good to see Dave Tailby travel down once again, even though his layout today was O gauge, he tells me EM gauge is the future!! Tony
  12. I don't buy any of the modelling mags anymore, unless there is a specific article I want. I don't subscribe online to any either. I haven't missed them but would rather have a paper copy of something than have access online. I also used to buy 2 US mags too and Rail Express, Rail and Traction but no longer. As for books I have started selling off my surplus ones recently and only bought one book in the last year I think. I only buy ones with colour photos in now and my most recent purchase was a new Strathwood issue. I will continue to buy books but only ones of specific interest. My recent purchase was £34.05 + postage. Having said that I sold one which was a 1984 OPS publication which was originally priced at £7.95 which seems a bit extravagant for the 80s. The money I don't now spend goes on modelling matters. I
  13. Mine arrived promptly from Kelsey and is another good issue.
  14. Any news on a list of layouts attending yet Brian R?
  15. Duly ordered direct from Kelsey, as it saves trawling around the various local WHS branches.
  16. Well I went and thoroughly enjoyed it. As a new EM Society member it was very interesting to see what is available. And the 3 layouts were great too. In fact it was more enjoyable than many other full shows I have been to. Tony
  17. As a new member of EMGS, just this week, I am really looking forward to attending this event next weekend. And it's only 4 miles away from me. Tony
  18. There are a few South Wales photgraphers who have loads of South Wales shots. Mostly mid 1960s onwards, good quality. Most centred around Cardiff and Newport and the Valleys. West Wales has less availability. PM me if you need any contact details. Tony
  19. When will you know the layout line-up Brian? Do you need anything from us? And congratulations for the superb organisation of arranging the show for a day Cardiff City are playing away- bonus.
  20. It's usually just a small show with local layouts. It's in my home town but is not the one organised by Pontypridd Model Railway Club, which I organise. It's more of an event put on for the community. It's a bit hit and miss with layout quality, but it depends what you're looking for. Some second hand trade and MIB Models from Bridgend are usually there, but not sure if Alan will be there following his recent illness. It's probably best to give it a go and decide afterwards whether it was worthwhile, everyone has differing tastes. I know our club will have a layout in attendance, but as I write I am not sure which one! It's the same weekend as the Warley show, it won't be as good but considerably cheaper! There are carparks nearby but little street parking , except in Pontypridd's main street, the venue is next to Pontypridd's famous 'Old Bridge'/ There is limited catering at the venue. The town is very busy on a Saturday but quiet on a Sunday. Tony
  21. I've just seen this thread and found details on UK modelshops, so as this is only 3 miles from me I'll definitely be attending. Trevanna Dries owner Wayne has been trying to convert me over to EM for a while now so this might be the time.
  22. I failed to get a copy at two local WHS branches so ordered mine direct from Kelsey on Thursday night and it arrived this morning. So very impressed with their service. Another good edition in the series.
  23. Does anyone know if this is now out. Not in WHS yet (Cardiff) and I wondered if anyone has received a copy direct from Kelsey?
