  1. Mike, it's the amount of errors Hornby have added onto their v.3 in comparison to their v.2 which gets me. And you have clearly shown this too on your red photo. That's a backwards step by Hornby. Lining is supposed to start with a vee point, rather than a mush. They managed it on the v.2. Nice that they've added the navy edging to the v.3 lining, but the overlapping is a mess. Lamp brackets should all be chrome, rather than half & half. They had this right on the v.2 but didn't bother on the v.3. Top door handrails were fine on v.2 but why stick machine gun ports onto the v.3? I've never had any top ones fall out on the v.2, so why make a change that's worse? But if you prefer all of these c*kups for £171 then go for it. If I write direct to Hornby it'd not get noticed. I just like things to be made correctly, with authentic detailing, and it's something Hornby should be doing properly for their £171 (£189.99 RRP).
  2. Rob, I'm glad you've put this photo up, showing the front end. Who the hell at Hornby can actually justify the near on double price for this v.3 with stripes this bad on the nose end and worse on the edge of the smokebox. Zoom in and take a closer look. Shocking. Well done in sending it back. It's no better than a test batch. Hope the mags pick up on all these issues, to get some action out of Hornby. Quality Controller = numpty. Sack 'em. Absolutely useless.
  3. Hornby, I hope they're bothering to read these comments. Please do your homework before bringing out any more "updated" LMS streamliners. They're big bucks now, so Hornby should be getting details ironed out. I mean, we're now on v.3 and no better off than v.2 Nameplate backing colours. Builder's plate colours. Lamp bracket colour. Lamp stripes colour & top stripe thickness. Steps require hand-holes. Hollow driving axles, not silver thanks. Rims. Front brakes & sanding pipes????? Coupling hook colour and distance. Cylinder drains. And I do love the 4 machine gun apertures on the smokebox doors - rather Messerschmitt Me 262esque now. I can't wait until they bring out 6229 & 6244 with that annoying lower stainless beading (never on the red locos, only the blue). Copied from the NRM 6229 full scale error. Well, it's like it on that one so it must be right, init? Nope pal. Homework. Aaaarrrrgggghhhhh. Blood pressure pills, again. When Hornby can sort these c*kups out, I'll save up some dosh for one. Possibly v.4. And 9 blue coaches @ £46 each. Any chance for a pair of kitchen cars please Hornby? Save me from doing up my Comet kits. I've been waiting since the 1970s for them. God, 50 years Hornby. No rush.
  4. LMR Paint Colours? ================== Are there any RAL colour codes or paint rattle can equivalents from Halfrauds for the loco blue & red colours? There's little in the LMR bible vols 2&3; nor the Ronald & Carter book; nor Branchlines to Longmoor. Only mention I could find was Oxford Blue, which isn't much help! When I compare old images to the Bachmann WD8 OO model, nothing matches. And WD10 vs S160 have differing blues, together in the same shot.
