  1. G'Day Folks No, I don't think they do, as small as they are, it is scary that they can reduce a house to dust after a few years. Even newish houses have been condemned. manna
  2. G'Day Folks Bit of a shock, that !! But you have a nice new home for your layout, albeit smaller than required, but isn't it always. I think next year I'll get to start my new layout. Things are working out OK here, have a working toilet, running water, a washing machine and a ride on lawnmower, the house is waterproof and lockable. Some of the walls are now stable, rather than flapping around in the wind !!!! But the White ants have eaten a fair bit of the timber. Onwards and Upwards. manna
  3. G'Day Folks Someone's gone over the top with his Pennine scenery !!!!!!! manna
  4. G'Day Folks That's looking good, great overview of the station. manna
  5. G'Day Folks The GNR loco's are in short supply, but in LNER days, C1 and C2 classes, were common, J6's on the goods side, none are RTR in N gauge, A1's, B17's, A4's (which are RTR). manna
  6. G'Day Folks Get well soon, I always enjoy your updates. All the best. manna
  7. G'Day Folks Thank You for the pics of Bradford. Beer when it's a 105f, why not ! manna
  8. G'Day Folks The 'Bradford bit' looks amazing, any chance of a wider view !! manna
  9. G'Day Folks No It's time to tell you all where I am, it's a small town called 'Pentland' about 250km inland from Townsville, Qld, on the main Hwy and rail line to Mount Isa, I have very large Road Trains passing in front of the house, and the rail line has very heavy Goods trains passing, there's a crossing point at Pentland so there are often two double or triple headed trains crossing, tank, ore and cattle trains make up most of the consist. House is coming on, I have covered most of the outside with cement sheeting, so the walls and roof are now waterproof, but I don't think I'll be able to start the next layout until next year, still much to do. Pic 2 is the new railway room. manna
  10. G'Day folks You seem to have a dilemma on you hands, regarding the subways/stairs. Could not the stairs be behind the platforms, thereby keeping the platform widths in keeping with the photographs which show unobstructed platform widths. manna
  11. G'Day Folks Would that be 'Hitchin' in the background ? manna
  12. G'Day Folks Sorry for the confusion, don't normally go in for controversy, just a bit of light hearted of 'What the heck'..... manna
  13. G'Day Folks Three great pics, but in each pic, the Green is different, which made me make the comment, I've only seen the 'Scotsman' twice (that I know of) spotted around Kings Cross/Wood Green in the late 50's and early 60's I'm sure I saw 60103 at Wood Green, and then again at the Stockton150 cavalcade in 1975, I think I got two pics of it in Apple Green, I'll have a look for them, but I had my eyes on the C2 Atlantic.... manna
  14. G'Day Folks Great pic's, but is it the 'Right' green ???😂😂 manna
  15. G'Day Gents I like both your suggestions, and both are doable, I worked at KX, so know that station well, and I've shunted banana wagons at the original Enfield station. Maybe a modified KX, As a through station ??, but not seeing the concourse, got me thinking now, eight coach trains, Widened lines, Passenger loco, Oh Dear, what a thought, let me think about it. Lets see if it fits. manna
  16. G'Day Folks Some railway related to today. The Workbench is taking shape, I started off with a built in wardrobe, with 4 doors, the center two are hanging space, the two outer doors are for shelving, the middle doors have been removed and a frame built, 12 ply was then cut to size (nearly six feet X 600mm) I'm just wondering how long it will take me to fill it ??? My other quandary is, with 7m X 3.8, what to I fill it with, I've done Edgware, now I need a mainline location. I wanted to model Bounds Green, but that won't fit, there's Holme, with the Ramsey branch, or I could do part of the Hertford branch ?? manna
  17. Hi cypherman It probably would, but the windows in the house are very small, the house's are designed to be open, which lets a lot of air in, I have three sets of French doors, one in each of the rooms, when they are all open, there is a cool breeze running through the house, and there's no insulation yet. Luckily the caravan has Air Con, so I can retreat into it to cool off. manna
  18. G'Day Folks Sorry for the long delay in any updates. The Internet is poor out here, I can pick up U Tube, Facebook, but not RMweb, strange, but today I have it. A lot of grass has been cut and burned, a large area is now available for cars and vans, my Brother-in-Law has now arrived and is giving me a helping hand. I've ripped all the old moldy carpet out and taken it to the dump, nice hardwood floors under the old carpet, the main lounge area is 7.1 X 3.8, which will give me a decent model railway, the second bedroom, will become the model workshop, the main bedroom will be the study, I'll continue to live in the caravan for the time being. Timber has been purchased for the workbench, that'll go up in the next few days. I've been up on the roof and patched the hole in the roof and any nail holes in the tin, then it rained, No leaks. slowly covering the side of the building with Cement sheeting, had to wait for a longer ladder to arrive, so I can get to the top, house should be watertight this week. Water has been piped to our two caravans, we're now on 'Mains' water. Also connected the water to a outside tap, after removal of the valve inside the tap we back flushed the water system in the house, again water at all taps in the house and no leaks, that'll get connected soon. manna
  19. G'Day Folks I have a connection, No I'm going to use the main building, 7mtr X 3.8. should make something out of that, might start making a few plans soon. The second bedroom is going to become my Modelling workshop, but for the moment, cutting grass and burning it. manna
  20. G'Day Folks Well it worked out the way I wanted it to. Have found a house on a large block of land (1.5 acres) moved in on Tuesday, I have intermittent Internet at the moment. manna
  21. G'Day Folks All that glass would be a pain, it would get so hot, all the track would melt and rolling stock would warp, bit like the old Tri-Ang coaches 😲 A sympathetic restoration will be on the cards, but with a twist. (Money permitting) manna
  22. G'Day Folks A potato railway, has got to be named 'Chipperfields'............... manna
  23. G'Day Folks Looking at the shape of the house, Potters Bar signal box comes to mind. Maybe not. manna
  24. Hi cypherman Thank you for your morale boosting comment. It's going to be a test of skill and ingenuity. but I'm looking forward to it. Got to get this workbench back on track..... manna
  25. G'Day Paul Totally agree, I'm glad I spent some time and money fitting solar panels , inverter (3,000w) and a 4Kv Generator, can run a Welder now, so a soldering iron won't be a problem. manna
