  1. A 387 would be a much better proposition for a manufacturer than 375’s or 377’s - much more livery variety, and much more geographic spread. They have previously operated or currently operate on Thameslink/MML, Great Northern lines out of Kings Cross to Peterborough and Kings Lynn, Brighton Main Line plus Coastway, the LTS lines, and the GWML as far as Cardiff. Liveries you’ve got a choice of C2C white with blue doors, GatEx red, Heathrow Express silver, GWR green and original white with Southern green doors. And then lots of different branding on base livery variations within that. Given for a while you could see GatEx Red, C2C white and GWR Green as far as west as Cardiff including 12-car formations of all three, and on GN you can currently see mixed livery combos of white with Green doors, white with blue doors, GatEx red and GWR green, they could sell quite well.
  2. A quick check of BR Loco Database suggests no - nearest to Norfolk/Suffolk would be Peterborough New England. Of course, there’s already Rule 1…
  3. I remember seeing Ginsters liveried sets at Clapham Junction on the Waterloo-Wales service operated by Wales & Borders back in the day, they got everywhere. They would complement the impending Bachman’s SWT CEP and Hornby SWT VEP nicely. Not my modelling era but really tempting all the same. Great choice!
  4. An LNER E4 would be lovely, as would a Thompson BZ but what I would expect are: • A 313. • Anglia Railways Mark 2’s to match the DBSO. • A reannouncement of a new 168/170/171 - no-brainer. • A new privatisation-era wagon. • Perhaps the 319 being upsized to OO. Bachmann seems to have abandoned steam, however it would be encouraging if a new Jubilee did emerge, even if it’s not something I’d purchase personally.
  5. Hi there, yes, I’m specifically after D. I’ll send you a PM.
  6. Does anyone have an LNER Brown Composite coach they’re willing to offload? Please send me a PM if you do, thanks.
  7. For those of us that missed out on D6700, any chance of a run of another early all-green split headcode box example please? I note you’ve done two different examples with split headcode boxes and GSYP, and as it stands there’s just one all green version that was only available via Locomotion.
  8. I’ll second an E4, slightly bigger chance now a J69 has been announced (and Mr Isles penchant at both Hornby and Accurascale for all things GE 😉), but I guess that doesn’t necessarily equate to commercial viability, particularly as they weren’t as widespread as J69’s. I’d pay significantly more for one though if it was commercially viable with a more limited production run. As to what I think is more likely, the suggestions of LMS Jubilee and 57xx are ones I’d agree with, although I can see a new Castle being popular too. One I’d also throw into the ring is a new Jinty - widespread throughout the LMS, and comes in Black, Blue or Red! I think 47445 was even painted yellow in industrial service.
  9. I don’t have a preference for one manufacturer over the other but I think Hornby thought that the market could sustain a more up-to-date and refined version of a famous prototype. Bachmann appear to have taken a leaf out of Hornby’s book IMO - they’ve had years to upgrade the tooling/spec and do Tyne Dock versions which they haven’t, they’ve sat on it. Hornby rock up with their new version including a Tyne Dock variant and only then do they decide to upgrade the speaker interface and release a Tyne Dock version in the next few months, at an RRP a smidge under Hornby’s - not unlike the Generic coaches and 66’s which Hornby flooded the market with quickly. As said, I have no problem with those tactics as it only benefits the customer, just highlighting it.
  10. I did have a quick look on Flickr but can’t find photos of 1199 on the main-line, only the Lymington branch - I’m sure it must have ventured to Waterloo once or twice in that form. EDIT: A quick Google after posting throws up this image, and the caption states after tyre-turning at Wimbledon it ended up working a Waterloo-Poole service as far as Brockenhurst. So it did happen once! https://stevestrainpics.weebly.com/the-brockenhurst-lymington-line.html#PhotoSwipe1690977791628
  11. Good bit of competition I say as plenty will be interested at a lower price point. They’re also competing with the 9F’s - although no one seems to have highlighted Bachmann doing head-to-head competition, unlike when Hornby do it.
  12. Nothing really in there for me for the time period/region I’m currently modelling, however the SWT CEP is very very nice and reminds me of spotting at Clapham when I was young. Don’t usually comment on price as I accept to some extent that’s the way of the world, but £570 for a sound-fitted three-car EMU is absolutely eye-watering. Would definitely consider a sentimental impulse purchase (to potentially partner a Hornby VEP), but it’ll have to be in the bargain bin. I can see the Burnham train shed being very popular, and I like the Road Van. I assume BR examples travelled everywhere but would need to see a photo or two to make me take the plunge and add to my wagon roster!
  13. Thanks for the response Nathan, stupid question perhaps but presume the sound file must be fairly generic sounding then? I’d have thought they’d recorded the real thing given it was in steam up until very recently and the fact they have a generic steam file for the chips.
  14. Has anyone got any first-hand experience using the B12 sound profile that they can report back on the quality? I assume they recorded the real thing but it would be good to get someone’s feedback on it before taking the plunge myself.
  15. Thanks for that. Is there a book on Quad-Arts and Quint-Arts? Apart from Steve Banks’ website can’t find much information on them. Will just have to use the set I acquire on an excursion to somewhere in East Anglia.
  16. I knew of a photo of a D84xx heading to Brighton, didn’t know the stock was quad-arts. If Quad-Arts could make it to the likes of Brighton and Hull, I’m sure they would have made it to East Anglia on occasion - that’s what I’m choosing to think, anyway!
  17. I did seem to recall they ventured to the seaside at weekends, thanks for confirming that. Any particular branch-lines that have been mentioned or that have photographic evidence for? I will be pre-ordering one, not 100% correct for the GE but near enough! Can’t wait.
  18. Thanks - so if my understanding is correct I’d still need to keep my NCE Powercab or another controller to be able to use the legacy dongle to power my existing DCC fleet. Which negates the point for me, was hoping to cash in and use a cheaper system. I will still give it a go as a way of getting a cheap B12 sound decoder when the file is available.
  19. I have a few questions if those who have contributed to the thread thus far don’t mind me asking - not sure I’ll be able to find the answers trawling through all 49 pages! I’m seriously considering in cashing in my NCE Powercab and going for the Hornby system, but wanted to double check the following: • That the HM DCC app can control existing DCC locomotives - I have a few locos with either Zimo sound, Hornby TTS, or Lenz Silver decoders, and would like to be able to operate them using the app, including the sound functions. Presumably it would be a case of purchasing a legacy dongle and plugging in, in my case the NCE mini-panel. • Can you programme non-TXS decoders using the app - ie if I wanted to change the ID on one of my Lenz Silver decoders in a certain model could I do that, or would I still need a basic DCC controller to plug in and programme it that way? • Would I need to rewrite some of the CV functions so the functions on the chip (or whistle as number 9) aligns with the functions listed as the same function number on the app? Or could I press the whistle on the app and it control it on the chip regardless of function number? • Finally, the power bank - great in theory but for example the enclosure in a Hornby B12 tender is extremely tight. Do they fit all models or is it a case of testing it out? Thanks in advance for any clarification anyone can provide.
  20. If there’s a countdown it must be new tooling? Unless I misremember if it’s a Limited Edition or new run of liveries it’s usually just a straight-forward announcement. Considering the E4 is parked next to the J69 at Bressingham, I daresay the esteemed Mr Isles could’ve taken his tape measure to it… some GER corridor coaches would be nice, but I can see AS going for a variant of Gresley articulated coaches. Otherwise, my money is on a full-fat high-spec retool of a Mark 1 or Mark 3.
  21. Thanks Paul, I will wait patiently for a second run and 68619 will have to haul the tram car until then!
  22. To the Accurascale chaps on here, I would also second a GE based machine with early crest if one could be added to the initial run, would love to pair one with a Rapido tram coach from the off. If I have to be patient I will, but worth asking!
  23. Oh my word!!!!! Have been hoping for someone to announce a J69, was not expecting it to be Accurascale however. Very very happy and have gone straight in for 68619 with sound, rule 1 will apply in that it’s been cascaded from pilot duties by the 15 a little earlier and has been reallocated to the countryside. Looking forward to my first Accurascale purchase. Might go for 68646 if that can be accurately forward-dated to early crest era, I doubt it somehow! Question on the sound-file, 68633 hasn’t steamed in preservation so have you gone for a generic sound file or have you stitched something accurate together from archive footage?
  24. It does, thank you very much. Little bit more room than I thought, so one will be making its way here when they arrive. Happy days!
