  1. Very much looking forward to getting my hands on 7812 now! Also like the inclustion of the hook on the buffer beam to sling the screw link on. Something that seems to be missed on other models of GWR locomotives.
  2. Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. I’m planning a N gauge layout and I was wondering which shops are the best for buying locos and stock? I'd rather buy items in stock than have them ordered in. If anyone can advise the best shops in terms of stock it would be much appreciated.
  3. I'm surprised the County 4-6-0 has not yet been retooled to the same standard as the King & Castle. A hole waiting to be filled in the high end GWR 4-6-0 line up as the old Dapol tooling is rather long in the tooth now!
  4. Have taken delivery of 054 today and it's a cracking model! Very well detailed and very heavy too which will help with traction, especially on the likes of the 42ft flats etc. Very impressed and would even say it's my favourite model of the year.
  5. Have taken the plunge and ordered the three packs of Red Oxide Taras. Should look good behind my A class or 071 (Should I get my hands on the latter!)
  6. Sadly not, the only full length Fag Packet Buffet would be a Lima one which is rather rare. The only full length Mk3 Hornby have produced in Fag Packet was R4326, which was a TGS. Which, IIRC, was done as more of a token BFO to go with the Fag Packet Mk3 Sleeper they produced.
  7. Just took the plunge and ordered a set in VTG Silver, one covered steel wagon we've needed for a while. Looking forward to them!
  8. A DB red 60 would do me nicely, would like to see the full fat powercars in FGW Barbie or Fag Packet as well.
  9. I once picked up a then brand new Mainline blue Hornby class 60 in TK Maxx back in the days when they stocked Hornby, Corgi etc for below the RRP. I later picked up a Bachmann Underground Ernie Circle for £5 in there.
  10. Must be has I hadn't seen it! I must play catch up..... How bad of me!
  11. On DCC the cab light can be turned on or off using F1 on the controller, with the TTS sound chip Hornby haven't done a 66 sound set yet. The only GM sound chip they do is a 67, which sounds very different to a 66! So it might be worth looking at a different sound chip which could be more expensive.
  12. You're not the first to say that and won't be the last! I'm down for one as well, I'm not sure why Bachmann haven't done one yet but it could be down to printing the pictures on the side of unit. Although if Hornby could do it with the Devon and Cornwall 153 whats stopping Bachmann do it with a 150?
  13. It's surprised me as well, I had started off modelling the modern stuff but in the last year and half have turned to BR 50s/60s. I would like to see what that poll would look now too. In some cases I think modelling sometimes boils down to what is readily available, which, at the moment, does seem to be more 'steam era' models compared to more contemporary stuff that could be produced but it could be that there is more variety with the steam and early diesel then there is now.
  14. Hmm, ATW 57, didn't they stop using them in 2012? Seems like an odd release.... The re-tooled Turbostar family is a good move, bringing them into spec with the 150 and what not. The GWR green 158 may sell well too. Not much on the steam side of things for me this time, although, those Bulleid coaches interest the Southern side of me.
  15. owentherail beat me to the freightliner grey 47, so how about a fag packet one? One livery yet to be done on a full spec 47... Also, I would like to see the 5700 and 8750 pannier make a come back, not seen them in the range for a while.
  16. As Mr Petty said: So PLEASE comment on the stuff with suggestions, comments and possible new projects!! Central Trains 156 in the Green and Blue would be a good one, they were known to make it as far as Cardiff..... Pacer wise, how about a 143 in Valley Lines and Visit Bristol Back?
  17. I happy that both are finally getting an update, long time coming. The one thing I am slightly confused about it he lack of post 56 Large Prairie, I'm all for a bit of DIY and changing the crest but I'm not a fan of taking the T-Cut and a cotton to a £100 model. No? Hmm, must just be me then....
  18. I thought, and I could be wrong, that the NEW Hornby HST replaced the old tooling and Lima HST replaced the old Hornby tooling in the Rail Road range, although Hornby has only released the latter once in Virgin livery and has never seen the light of day since.
  19. It would, although this has never stopped duplication by the two manufacturers with 4900 Hall being a good example.
  20. I could be wrong, but didn't Hornby show pictures of 9400 being measured up in Steam in an Engine Shed update a while back, who knows what 2018 could bring.....
  21. Was looped at Panteg to allow some members of Freightliner staff attended, it later turned out to be a dragging break on the wagon. I was surprised to see that Freightliner had taken on the workings, one of the photos I took of the working can be seen here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/85928922@N02/35244858554/in/dateposted-public/
  22. Some of the FGW blue sleepers had MK3 open interiors, although you couldn't them they had them!
  23. A quick search on BR database shows the loco's first allocation as Old Oak Common from 30/09/1959. It then moved to Westbury from 17/06/1961, afterwords it moved to Eastleigh and then onto Feltham before going up north. This explains why it carries the blue route dot and why it is labelled as being BR(S) locomotive.
  24. And tonight's 'how much? Is he having a giraffe?' goes to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R2812-Class-43-HST-125-First-Great-Western-FGW-New-Mint-Boxed-One-Only-/252627566749?hash=item3ad1c6c09d%3Ag%3AX2oAAOSw4GVYIh1V A steal if I say so myself..........
  25. Looks like I was right when I posted back on page 2 . Very nice wagons, wasn't expecting the dutch ones. Gives those who missed out the first time the chance to get some. Hopefully they'll do some more Cardiff Rod Mill ones with tarps.
