  1. Does anybody ever buy these Hatton's seconds? You only save a few pounds off a new one.

    Chipping a P2

When fitting a TTS decoder to my P2, I found the loco a bit restrictive. I extended the 4 pin socket into the tender and put the decoder and speaker there.
  3. This is my favourite Locomotive type, and I was totally caught out by this announcement. I have five of the present incarnation, but will be definitely adding at least one these. Pleased to see a tts decoder is being released. That's how to do it, Bachmann. Where's my long overdue V2?
  4. I have had mine on pre-order with Rails for £141 for ages. By time it comes out it will probably be £500, allowing for inflation. I am not impressed, whatever their excuses. I bought the the previous incarnation, which needed redoing, but this seems to be going on forever. There are plenty of Hornby locos to buy instead.
  5. When is the V2 going to be available? I wish Hornby had ownership of this type class. Bachmann have been hopeless.
  6. Will the first one fit under the latest Bachmann Class 37 fan assembly? The second one doesn't.
  7. Now that has unnerved me. I have just bought one and have to fit the dcc decoder. Any tips?
  8. I have this, hard wired to the tender to take TTS sound. I love the A3..
  9. R8249 and TTS both have a motor limit of 500mA constant with a slightly higher peak value shared by the functions. Rob So it would be risky fitting the TTS decoder? I have refitted the R8249 and ordered a Bachmann Class 47 to use the TTS decoder. I hope that works out ok.
  10. I have the Heljan Class 47 'North Star' 4794. I fitted the TTS decoder, and, after a circuit the sound started to distort. Taken off the track for a short time restored it to normal, but then it repeated the process. Is this a sign of overload, or just another faulty decoder. My Hornby Elite also had trouble reading the CVs. Is this a sign of overloading. I would hate to fit a new chip and damage it. A bit expensive. It has been happily running on a standard R8249 decoder for years. I have just measured the current values. Heljan Class 47 shunting speed 0.24A Full on wheel slipping 0.6A attempted stall failed, could get enough grip on rails. The loco never went faster than shunt when trying out decoder sounds.
  11. Try adding some weight to the loco. How heavy does it feel compared to your Bachmann locos?
  12. I have just purchased Patriot R2364 Bunsen, sold as 'new', which suffers from this issue. Metal lump has expanded, and gear cover broken. I have returned it Plenty of these on ebay. Buyers beware.
  13. I would have to view with my nose on the baseboard to notice the small gap. I think the flanged wheels go some way to compensate.
  14. I find the Hornby Princess Royals' pivoting truck is very discrete, and any gap is hard to see, whereas the Princess Coronations are not so good.
