  2. Hi Ian, I've updated the web-site and this has now moved: http://www.lbscr.org/Rolling-Stock/Locomotives/Stroudley/E1.xhtml There are now photos of most locos as well. Cheers, Dave
  3. One of our team scratchbuilt a Pylon for our N gauge Hinksey Yard. See the fourth photo in this post: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/33440-hinksey-yard-c2010/page-9&do=findComment&comment=1633041 Cheers, Dave
  4. This appeared in our garden this morning and hung around for a while: A Cinnabar moth I believe - not seen one before. Cheers, Dave
  5. Hi, I would like to add our thanks from the Hinksey Team to the Mickleover Group for their friendly hospitality over the weekend and for putting on a great show. The location was spectacular and we spent a lot of time just looking at the wonderful, sympathetically-restored building. Lots of great layouts and useful traders, with plenty of interest from the public. All-in-all an excellent show. Many thanks, Cheers, Dave
  6. Hi, We're up at the Derby Roundhouse show this weekend. Do drop by. Cheers, Dave
  7. Hopefully he will be able get to Lewes in 1886. Has he got a digital camera? Cheers, Dave
  8. Hi Graham, Next year it's the 27/28 April weekend. Cheers, Dave
  9. A big THANK YOU to all our exhibitors and traders for making it a great show. And also many thanks to all our visitors for coming along and making it all worthwhile On to next year's show... Cheers, Dave
  10. Hi, Ruxley is actually OO (not EM). The layout was originally built in the 1960s. Cheers, Dave
  11. We have now added "Green Scene" to the traders list. On the stand John Lloyd will be demonstrating the use of static grass etc. Cheers, Dave
  12. Hi, I don't think there are any modelling demos. Under "Demonstrators & Societies" in the brochure we have: 2mm Association Epsom & Ewell Model Railway Club Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Trust South Western Circle The 2mm Association will be presenting their road-show with various 2mm items on display (including a model of the 2-4-0 locomotive "Epsom") and the we (the Epsom club's "little" people) will be showing progress on our embryonic 2FS LB&SCR "Lewes" layout. Both will be happy to explain how we do things. The SW Circle usually have a display of models on their stand. Hope this helps, Regards, Dave
  13. Hi, Unfortunately, All Components are now unable to attend the show. However, there are still lots of other good traders and great layouts to see Cheers, Dave
  14. Hi, We've now added a new layout to the show: Cheffley, OO, SR set in the late 1930s featuring EMUs on the Waterloo services. This is a new layout making what we understand will be only its third exhibition appearance. Cheers, Dave
  15. I like the tip about keeping the tags for electrical feeds. Cheers, Dave
  16. We had a long, but good day out at RISEX yesterday. A very early start to get there to set up at 7:30am, fortunately almost everyone's alarms worked. A very nice, small, but high-quality show with layouts in a variety of scale and gauges. As Hinksey is not too far away, we had a lot of interesting comments from people who know the prototype location well. Once again we had a number of young "trainee" operators and we are now thinking of getting some certificates printed for them to take away. I only managed one photo (which shows a crowd in front of the layout): A strange electrical issue developed late in the afternoon, possible due to a push-button failure, which we now need to investigate. Hopefully, it will be reproducible (and easily fixed) back in the club room. Cheers, Dave
  17. Many thanks to the Risborough Club for inviting us with Hinksey Yard and looking after us yesterday. We had a great day at a high-quality show. Cheers, Dave

  20. Hi, we're off to the Risborough show this Saturday, if you're there, come and see us. Cheers, Dave
  21. I will be interested in early LB&SCR (Craven or Stroudley) locos in 2FS for our Lewes 1886 project. It will also be interesting to see the level of detail and finish that is possible in the smaller sizes. The detail on Shapeways FXD is very good, but preparation for painting is tricky. Good luck, Cheers, Dave
  22. Hi, The specifications for LBSCR lines to be constructed in the 1860's generally quote rail of about 75 lb,18 to 24 feet in length on creosoted red pine sleepers 8 to 9 feet long and 10" by 5" approximately 1 yard apart. An LBSCR drawing for 1864 shows 75 lb rail in 21 ft lengths on eight 9 ft sleepers. Undated annotations on the drawing suggest a later move to steel rail weighing 78 lbs. A second copy of the drawing, annotated in 1885, has 78 lb steel rails, 30 ft long on twelve 9 ft sleepers. Specifications for lines to be constructed in the later 1870s/1880s refer to both 21 ft and 30 ft rail lengths. Hope this is of interest, Cheers, Dave
