  1. Merry Boxing Day Mike ( and John of course ). Ironically yesterday was the FIRST day I've had an alcoholic drink for many years, a very nice vintage Port and I slept extremely well afterwards !!! ATVB to one and all on this thread. G
  2. Sir ! Sir ! April 1935 Sir........ Do I win a pint Sir ?
  3. Thank you for the above, just as it started and I began to get excited my grandson called to see me ( 4 1/2 yrs old ) and wanted to play with my little project.....well I couldn't refuse now could I ? He used the Roco handheld and ran a loco up and down the small length of track and before he left told me how he thought it was cool and wants to play again next time he comes around. It's these festive memories that will always stay with me. At least I can hopefully catch the second episode on iPlayer quietly later this evening, and very much looking forward to the remainder of the series. ATB and AHNW Bob G

    Little Muddle

Nah, he's practising to be a DPD delivery driver ! What Christmas Parcel delivery ?
  6. I couldn't possibly answer. Well not here anyway !!! Clever cover version thanks Gibbo.
  7. The wheels are already available from the Broad gauge Society..... in 7mm of course. I doubt that any manufacturer would produce a model due to the fact that video cameras and sound recordings weren't available then !!!
  8. Hello Rob, I appreciate your quick response thank you. The Anycubic Mono X is one which I have been seriously considering for a while and if there aren't any upgrades likely soon then I would probably purchase one for my 7mm work. Being a total novice at these black arts I used a simpler 3D software. Tinkercad, for my first attempt at a wagon body in 4mm for a friend which was kindly done by another friend for me on his machine. Having draw it out and printed I am now encouraged to carry on. Once again thank you for the information. Kind regards G
  9. I have just come across your thread / 3D printing and it certainly is excellent work to my eyes. May I also ask what printer you are using to produce the coaches please ? G
  10. Totally agree and his writings aren't half bad either ! G
  11. Nothing to do with the above, not certain if it has been posted elsewhere in the Parish News but I thought it would be useful to advise the following - https://www.martynwelch.com/news/ After many years Martyn has sadly decided to "hang up his airbrush and paint brushes" due to back problems. If you haven't looked at his work on the website then may I suggest you do so as it will no longer exist after the end of January 2022. In my humble opinion he is up there with the very best and also an extremely nice chap to boot. His superb work bringing models to life will be sadly missed, certainly by myself. G

  13. Quite correct Rob, if it doesn't run well in DC and it's a duff then no amount of time spent trying with a decoder is likely to improve it. May I suggest trying to find another motor replacement for peace of mind, I hope you manage to fix it though. G
  14. Merry Festives to you both and maybe a beer at Cockwood next year ? ATVB G
  15. Thank you Simon I shall have a look later and yes I am on the mend thank goodness, couldn't bear to fill anymore flux bottles ! ATVB G
  16. It can be one of several variants from Germany or Liege, I do quite like the light blue livery though. G
  17. You deserve it ! Yes Simon Kemp's work is what sort of inspired me to buy the kit and I have finally done so.
  18. DING DING ! Hold very tight please..... Very much appreciated Mikkel and I would also apply your own comments back to The Farthing Layouts too. Your imagination and inventiveness is an inspiration to us all and gets the little grey cells whirring, certainly for my part anyway. I still have a "fug" surrounding what's left of my grey cells due to the cold which is sloooowly going but not sufficient to gel me into action in modelling terms still. It will come but I feel that it is pointless trying to do something that you cannot fully immerse one's self into. That said I have stepped back from the Italian work to assess a few ideas and maybe do a bit more mocking up, I am never totally satisfied with what I produce and want it to at least look reasonable once finished. One area of modelling that I have always enjoyed is the simple plastic "out of the box" kit build, mind you it doesn't always go to plan and I always seem to end up doing some alterations to a basic build ! With that in mind and wanting to apply some restraint ( NO! don't even go there please ! ) in respect of modelling straight from the box I have taken delivery this past week of a model which has been a niggling want for me for several years......and here it is ........ As a value for money kit I believe it is well worth having for the cost. There have been quite a few reviews over the years and also several videos, one chap in particular which I watched several years ago goes to great lengths to produce a diorama which I feel does the model justice. I intend to make it over the Festive season as something away from railway modelling, albeit there are some tracks involved ironically. Just a bit of a break from choo-choo's and the fun / entertainment value instead of watching a lot of mind numbing repeats on the goggle-box ! Happy Festives one and all ! G
  19. Hi Dave, I have been using a font known as Fette Egyptienne for anything requiring GWR signage etc and have found it to be a good match to my eyes. Free downloads are widely available ont 'tinternet search engines and I pasted the font into my selection of fonts. Not the best screen shot but I hope it gives you some idea of the style. All the best to you and yours at this Festive time, G I have edited this post to include a photograph of said font which I used on my 7mm signal box build. Cut out using the Silhouette cutter to further show how it looks on a model
