  1. This is what I was going from when thinking about my layout I'm now very confused as this site states although rarely done it doesn't state that it's not allowed to be done. As you can see it's an extract from a different thread from this website? Is there actually any regulartions written down?
  2. Great little layout and gives me some inspiration to create my own, full of character and atmosphere. What is the concern with the wiring. As I would have thought as long as the gentleman has ventilation, its PAT tested and is inaccessible to touch when operated then it would be fine it appears to be in a plastic case so is insulated. Forgive me only just starting in the model railway world and only living in a small flat I don't have much space.
  3. Hi mike, really nice job on the 31 network rail loco im looking to do the same and was wondering what make of loco you started with and where I can get the detailing kit from or have you plans you could send me many thanks and keep up the good work look forward to seeing more
  4. Glass added as you can see in the picture I cut the big plastic steps off and replaced them with track pins bent and fixe in to give a more realistic hand rail just need a decent chassis to put her on
  5. This wouldn't be the conversion to a calidonian 0-6-0 jumbo we spoke about would it
  6. Thank all. Very useful I'll let you know how they all come out and post some pictures for you all I did do an 08 shunter that's on my page let use know what you think in the middle of moving at the moment so wont be doing much the next few weeks
  7. Thanks all been a great help well looks like I paid an ok price and even though it's not really a loco that fits in with my location (sheringham) it's still an iconic locomotive and nice to have in the collection
  8. That's great help I'm originaly from great yarmouth but now live in sunny Scotland I think there will be some modellers licensing in respect to the SKIs entering but like you said lifeboatman the bridge will give a good scene break and allow me to put a fiddle yard this end and there seems to be plenty of sideings so could maybe put some shunting in eg coaches, goods wagons it will be intresting to see wether greater Anglia one or what ever they call them welds these days will apply to use the line when they build the Norfolk orbital again but if not what a good length track to take a ride on.
  9. I'm thinking of doing a 00 layout based on the north Norfolk railway more exact the sheringham station as it is today with the new crossing in place as this will give me the ability to run modern DMU's eg class 156 & 170 and run steam locos or even some older diesel locos on the same lay out so best of both worlds dose any one have any plans for any of the track lay out or building platform plans also dose any one think this is a good idea thanks for looking

  11. And from the side I've left the wasp stripes on but this is somthink I feel really suits the 08 class
  12. There we go all my attempt at a new paint job I feel this is some what more intresting than the very basic red and grey loco that Hornby made but set for a good base to start and a nice easy conversion for the younger less skilled modeler any more idears as to what I could add would be great
  13. Yes handles have been painted now and some detaling to front buffer beam and it's on the original chassis for now
  14. Now many people will say that's not an 08 number and find fault but be gentle I'm new to railway modeling but thought I would share my attempt and changing the railroad 08 shunter from the train pack and I don't think it came out to bad let me know what you think
  15. Hi all I'm looking for transfers for BR Mk1 coaches in OO gauge for the my model railway village coaches I have 6 coaches at the moment and looking to do as much detail as I can any tip or ideas thanks chris
  16. Hi all a few months ago I found a 00 gauge class 55 lima In the local model shop after paying 40 pound for it got it home and found that it's a lima collectores club model with certificate limited edition what I'm wondering is how hard are these to find and did I pay the right price. She runs well and is quiet with ok detail for an old lima model so I'm not to worried just want to know what is worth thanks o and any information on the royal highland fusiliers running routs would be great thanks again
  17. Hi all been looking around for some good quality BR waterslides from the end of steam right through to modern day also need som BR water slides for a class 37, 33 and mk 1 coaches as the ones from the build your own model railway are plain as some may know looking at doing the east anglia region so if any one knows of any transfers that suit this area would i would be greatful thanks chris
  18. thanks all and belive me mark there is still plenty of drinking and the single bunk is quite good, looking at doing a lay out based on the North Norfolk Railway as it is now with the new crossing at Sheringham giving me the option to run modern DMU's along side steam and with the road bridge at the far end of the station gives me a good cut off for a fiddle yard what are the thoughts on this and has any one seen this done?

    hello

Hello everyone, Im Chris, currently serving in the British Army and to my girlfriends displesure a keen 00 guage modler so looking to get good hints and tips and make some new friends and hopefuly some useful info on all things 00 thanks for stoping by
  20. so after having a keen intrest in model rail ways for some years and owning a few locomotives I've seen the magazine in the shops. Now I'm all for a bargin and brought 5 of the first issue and after some mixed reviews on you tube and other sites i felt Id air my view's and also to ask some friendly advice. so the track people are complaining that its different to the Hornby and Peco tracks but this dosn't bother me as I'm looking at aging and weathering my track any way to give it a more real look and so what if the fish plates slide of to easy I've found that taking them off and using a small set of pliers to crimp them down they stay on perfect so no problems there. Now then the coach and at first i thought wow bargin 3.99 a coach cant complain there and I must say you realy cant yes they need a small amout of work to clear some points and curves but we are all modelers we dont expect things to be perfect straight away its part of the fun finding a problem sitting back and solving it over a good old flask of tea and being able to say I've fixed that. The detail on the coach i find super taking in to account the price i paid and behind my class 37 in BR green they look superb. These are a blank canvas so that any modeler can develop them in to what ever they need with the help of a few water slide transfers. Now the friendly advice? dose any one out there know where i can purchase 4mm (00 gauge) transfers from to create the 50s 60s style of coach with BR marking ? I'm looking to do the coach numbers BR crest and windows with no smoking/ smoking sign and any other fine detailing packs to make these coaches that little bit more better any help is great thanks chris
