Always late to the party..... anyway may I add my delight at this announcement. I hope the models are slightly tidied up and the minor faults with the D sorted before final production. That said though I'm prepared to accept slight problems on an RTR model as they would still be infinitely better than my attempts at kit building.

My only concern is that they get the Maunsell green right. I'd hate for it to clash too badly with the rest of my Hornmann/Bachby SR fleet.

How about the three Southern Railway Maunsell prototype diesel shunters ?
These had the interesting angled overhanging rear cab windows presumably to let the crew see the shunter coupling up.
Quite long lived with four liveries:
Southern black with Maunsell lettering.
Yep. Along with the Class 30 (electric) that's the only loco on my wishlist.

Another of your sigs bites the dust!

The UK VAT has been taken off
That's not what it states though, is it? The screengrab states tax inc. So, error somewhere.
Anyway, back to bitchin' about the livery errors...

The announcement does state that some errors have been identified and subject to correction. But not what they are.

It is showing £199.95 for me.
£166.63 is £199.95 less the VAT.
Ummm, nope:
And, although I'm in Switzerland, so tax would be deducted at RoS's end, I'm not logged into my account. Spooky!

I too automatically thought that the loco would be part of the National Collection when I was awaiting the announcement video! Rails has set a bit of a trend in recent times in this respect.
There's a compact and bijou cluette in the announcement:

£199.95 DCC Ready
£324.95 DCC Sound FittedAll versions are available to pre-order now with just a £30 deposit.
Just one, not-so-minor point, Oliver. I think that the pricing on RoS is misleading.
I take this to mean £166 of which a £30 deposit is required, not £166 PLUS an ADDITIONAL £30 deposit.
Perhaps it's just me, but it could be more transparent.

This looks far more imposing than the D Class!
According to SEMG, 1749 was rebuilt 1921 by Beyer Peacock, and 1741 was rebuilt in 1927 at Ashford.
Decisions, decisions. SWMBO would kill me for either one of them, so is it a case of in for a penny, in for a pound?

It's a shame there aren't any pictures, or even diagrams, of the individual items.

Agreed. I wouldn't buy them without more research. But they remind me of my childhood growing up in Folkestone.

From that photo, I can see how it got that name!

Those SER buildings look really rather good. I could be tempted…

The only thing of even passing interest to me is Terrier Martello, but not for the additional palava of club membership. This is not a bad thing though. I’ve been getting ‘the look’ from the CFO.

I could have a use for the Maunsell diesel shunter, but not the Bulleid.
As for Ivor, a childhood favourite of mine. But best left to the quirky Smallfilms IMO. Things like that rarely translate well.

Would these have seen SR metas in the late '30s/pre-war? And, if so, in what guise?
From my limited researches, and the fact that @Graham_Muz hasn't mentioned in on his blog, I'm going to assume that I can save 50-odd of your folding Betty portraits.

Yep, it’s the common cold season.

Pity they didn't bother to proof read what they post on social media - the first paragraph doesn't make sense.
And the third paragraph: “Snap one up” is a tad unfortunate in light of the damages shown here.

If a new product is promoted on TV, it goes without saying that it will generate a lot of interest (i.e. orders) in that product and that puts the onus on them to hit the floor running. Has Hornby missed the mark here?
There’s a lag time between filming and broadcast. Perhaps the intervening period was busy for them?

And from what people have said it was hard enough getting into the 1:1 version, this one may require brute force and ignorance.
A significant advantage over the 1:1 version is that you can cut your passengers’ legs off to make them fit. This tended to be frowned upon, even by BR management.

@Oliver Rails thank you for not being one of the retailers who felt the need to add to my email inbox in ‘celebration’ of this US holiday tradition.

Yes. And renumbering the duplicates is a right royal PITA. The great thing about multi packs is the variation in running numbers.
