  1. As something tends towards infinity it becomes everything, and its reciprocal becomes nothing. But infinity doesn't exist in real terms, so there is no nothing only things that aren't everything. Alternatively, there's the difference between specialists and generalists: A generalist knows less and less about more and more, until eventually he knows nothing about everything. A specialist knows more and more about less and less, until eventually he knows everything about nothing.
  2. If you were, you've adapted to this modern internet malarkey with remarkable aplomb!
  3. Dave, we should all aspire to something, no matter how little that something is. You've just taken it to its logical conclusion, and I think you're doing a fantastic job. Soon your non-blogs will surpass your blog entries. You might even start a trend. I for one am thinking of my own non-blog (since I have little enough worth blogging about at the moment), so I will look to you for tips.
  4. They're passionate and knowledgeable, although not infallible (but, then again, who is?), which alone lifts then out of the box-shifter league. Not having a local model ship that stocks OO gauge or 4mm, I'm pretty much limited to online shopping anyway.
  5. I guess the one advantage of living here is that Hattons cannot bulk-ship via cheaptastic couriers. Gotta love the Hattons service though. Top!
  6. The wagons look great. And the loco is fine...except I would've expected more oil/grease than rust around the piston/rod. That looks a little overdone IMO (but it is just MO!)
  7. There is nothing on my mind.

      Tim V

      Are you sure?

  8. Activity Media's site is a bit confusing in this respect: Which gives the impression that videos can only be viewed for a month, after which your time is up. Then it says: So I guess what this is saying is that access is limited for a month, but you can continue to view thereafter, which is fair enough. I misread (hopefully!) that as meaning that a downloader file remains on your computer. Remember the days of downloader 'helper' files?
  9. So do I. And I'm British English.
  10. Waistcoats are more gentlemanly! :-Y
  11. OTOH, and I cannot speak for the Nikon D300s, a DSLR will have a larger sensor and lower noise at higher ISO, so you can compensate for the higher f-stop with faster ISO.
  12. I agree, an enviable amount to play operational value here!
  13. This blog cannot be deleted, it's a testament to the indefatigable creative spirit! It should stand as something that can all aspire to.
  14. I'm potentially in the market for one of Metalsmith's TTs, so I'm really interested to see how this progresses!
  15. Oh don't sell yourself short, I rather enjoyed it. It has a certain charm, like an abandoned branch line station. It's always the first post that's the most difficult, wouldn't you agree?

    Hornby P2

Yes, it was said in jest...and with some concern for a couple of Hornby locos that I'm thinking of re-wheeling and which do have traction tyres. But that's another question for another thread.

    EBay madness

Hell's teeth, it looks like it's been weathered for the Midnight Meat Train!
  18. @Lifeboatman: What's there to disagree with about that? You divide everything into 'steam' and 'modern image', but steam goes from pre-grouping (and earlier) though to BR late crest. In and of itself, it means nothing. I am genuinely puzzled.
  19. Useful to know, but I'd rather get a hand controller than install Java on a computer. I'm not sure that I could purchase an app that has this as a warning: At least not without a smiley!
