  1. I looked into the p2 idea myself. The smokebox would need extended backwards the superheater covers and boiler band would need moving backwards. The chimney is larger on a p2 too. The biggest problem would be that the a4 smokebox sides are curved where the p2 is straight. It would be possible but a lot of work
  2. I am going down the road of buying the first few parts and scratchbuilding the rest too. Mine may, if im feeling brave get extended into a w1. I did do the earlier scotsman too and it runs well, there are still a lot more unbuilt ones for sale though than I have seen built.
  3. They also produced a helicopter series a year or two back. I bought the Royal Marines Sea King Junglie it was a direct copy (albeit in plastic) of the Di cast Corgi model. It was a very fine model except for a bit of flash (easily removed) that was stopping the top and bottom halves mating together neatly. I don't think Amercon are at all worried about copyright. One point on copyright of the paintwork is that the RAF roundel is copyright of the Raf and some aircraft manufacturers are quite protective of their aircraft designs to. The airfix f-86 for example has a note on the box saying it is a licensed product of Boeing. The F-86 is a Korean war era aircraft and long obsolete but boeing (who only own the design by takeover) are very protective over it.
  4. I bought butler Henderson today. This is the first of this series I have bought. Not a bad model for your 8.99. the magazine on first glance looks good also. Mine had a wonky buffer beam which will hopefully detach and be repositioned.
  5. my local asda stil has loads of issue 2 and also issue 2 and 3 of the U-boat which came out at the same time. No issue 3's on the shelf. I suspect they are trying to shift issue 2 first and maybe have them round the back as the shelves where full. Didn't have time to find anyone to ask.
  6. The HST has been listed for a few days. Is your PC looking at an old version of the website as I can see it on mine?
  7. you made that look far too easy. do you just paint the polycell stuff on and wait for the paint to bubble and scrub or is there more to it?
  8. I think you might be right. I would have been happy if it was the old lima model but that doesn't have the extra window for the guards compartment that is shown on the picture
  9. I agree rosspop it is not the end of the world.
  10. has anyone thought of the possibilities of using the butler Henderson to make some of the GC 4-6-0 types. The B2 is an obvious one as it pretty much looks like a stretched d11.
  11. Maybe they are following history and replacing the A4 with a shiny new deltic. You might get an HST next!
  12. I have been informed that issue 2 is due out today. Has anyone seen it yet?
  13. its definitely a battle of Britain having an raf blue backed nameplate and by the crest appears to be Winston Churchill. It also says so at the top of the magazine cover.
  14. If the tender is anything to go by its not looking good. The tender tank rear and front have straight edges. if you curve the tender sides as per the prototype there are huge gaps. Not too difficult to fill but you shouldnt need to. Its almost as if jim couldnt decide on the correct tender side profile and just left it to the builder
