  1. Waiting at Wooferton for a B1 on an excursion heading to Shrewsbury on the old LNWR/GWR joint - Wooferton is no longer a junction or even a station, but there's still a signal box, refuge siding and (G)WR signalling.

There's the former BBC shortwave transmitters there too.

The Wooferton masts are visible from our front windows .

      It's 'Woofferton'  (Sp.).

  2. CKPR has taken the first steps into 7mm modelling...more details to follow on the pre-grouping forum.

      Good move!

      Start of a slippery slope!

  3. I've just bought my first 7mm kit...well, second if you count the 3H open wagon I bought in 1976.

My first 7mm kit was a 3H van.  I've still got the chassis, the superstructure fell to bits years ago...

I re-dipped my toe into 7mm modelling a few years ago, with some O-16.5 resin kits from Smallbrook Studio. I've not had the urge yet to try anything bigger!

  4. Friday night liquid poly disaster - only one wagon a complete write off but will have to dig into my precious stocks of MAJ wagon parts to make good the damage to the others.

You have my sympathy. Being naturally somewhat clumsy I've found those foam  bottle and paint tin holders an absolute godsend. Just a block of dense foam with suitabley sized holes in them but they've saved me from disaster on more than one occasion.

Now that sounds like a good idea ! I used to keep an old fashioned square 'Britfix 70' bottle and decant new solvent into that but it seems to have disappeared into the recycling bin.

  5. Two Tri-ang clerestories just bought off Ebay and waiting to be cut up to make a C22 all third...

Thinking about forming a Triang Clerestory preservation society while there are still some which haven't been cut up

I'm amazed that they are still to be found in reasonable numbers - we'll miss them when they're gone !

  6. The move back into active modelling is increasingly taking the form of a reversion to my original 1970's interest in the GWR...that's a 1970s take on modelling the GWR, all Prototype kits buildings, Ratio signalling, ABS wagons, Mallard etched brass engines and Dart Castings / Pendon fittings, all washed down with J.H.Russell's OPC books.

Sounds good to me. Never change a winning team!

      1970s modelling of the 1900s...

  7. Slowly getting back into railway modelling - two scratch-builds of M&CR engines are back on the temporary workbench on the kitchen table and I've started on a Mallard '517' kit to be built 'straight back and Swindon style' a la Iain Rice.

  8. Listening to Hawkwind and assembling IKEA shelving- no railway modelling this evening then.

Just resisting the temptation to type out the lyrics from memory 'cos I can - 'Space Ritual' is probably my favourite album !

  9. 60 feet of LMC coarse scale three-rail O gauge track purchased at a local exhibition for £35. That should fit in with my EM and HO activities...
