  1. Father, forgive me, for I have sinned. I have bought a pannier tank.

I'm sure there are plenty of priests tucked away on this Forum who will happily grant you absolution.  And as penance you simply have to buy them one as well.

      Hi Dave,

gosh, I don't remember that at all and it doesn't seem like my sphere of modelling.  Have you got the right Steve?

Apologies for a memory slip if it was me.

  6. Does anyone happen to remember which A4 was cannibalised for parts when 'Mallard' was handed over to the NRM?

    1. steve22

      steve22

The story I've read many times over the years was that Miles Beevor was the donor loco for A4 4498, Sir Nigel Gresley.  I'll have to plead ignorance about any donor loco for 4468 Mallard.  I didn't know that story about the tender though.  Seems a rather sad loss.

  9. Son No.1 announces he may be moving out, I only have one question in my head.

Do I build an N Gauge or 00 Gauge layout in the vacant space, or maybe I can fit both!

    1. steve22

      steve22

Mr. Woodenhead, take heed.  My son No. 1 did move out - THREE times in total.  He came back for nearly ten years the third time.  Finally moved out for good.  He still uses our new home (where he has never lived) as his home address, so we still get all his parcels.  And as for the storage space I created in loft and garage...

Nice! Your comment reminds me of something similar some years ago - I stopped at Toddington for an extremely brief visit on the way home to Gloucester. In that very short time Flying Scotsman backed up the line, took on water (I think) then chuffed back out again. Yes, a beautiful sight.
