  1. I've had problems with my 22 which I bought from helpful Hereford model centre. The loco seemed to run okayish at first but with a slight wobble as if the wheels were eccentric. Then the running became much less smooth in one direction - as if it had pick up problems. It's been back to the shop where they thought it was the blanking chip. A new chip later and the running is still as bad so I'm going to send it back again. I've just seen your post and wonder if the axles on mine are the problem ? I tested the 22 yesterday on clean new peco track and it juddered at slow speeds. My Bachmann class 20 and 24s never have problems - even when the track is dirty. So my experience with this 22 has not been so good. Has anyone else had similar problems?

The contacts on one axle are causing an intermittent shorting. I,too, have had the problem but on DC.

  2. Bachmann's fast reaction hasn't stopped The Signal Box putting one on e-bay this morning, with no warning to any potential purchaser.Disappointing.......but.hey ho,that's the way of it.

  3. This is starting to turn into some sort of nationwide hunt. "Find The Western". Is there some sort of cash prize for finding one?

Western Sultan (FYE) now on Rails website ....plus two Class 22 disc indicator versions. I'll waive my cash prize....

  4. Now that I can't answer.  I did get caught once (by a different seller) who just wanted to "borrow" my money for a while, but as Trains4U are a bricks and mortar shop I would hope they would be above that sort of thing.  I guess the way to find out would be for some of the people here who didn't get one against their pre-order to try and buy one!  I would, if I needed another...

Gareth is a respected contributor to this forum. He is being perfectly open about it.....nothing underhand. Unlike,it would seem.some retailers who are still happy to take an order which they cannot possibly fulfil. It is a genuine retail store...full of good things and well worth a visit.

  5. Hi Ian,

Your saying that you've ordered 3 Dapol models from 3 different stockists and didn't get 1 model?

Can you clarify for me please?

    Cheers

    Dave

    I've just posted you,Dave.

  6. Hi Ian,

A bit too early to jump in with that I. Think.

We had orders for 508, and had 500 made (interestingly that not a bad ratio regarding making what we can sell, I'm sure you'll agree).

    ...............

Comparing Dapol supply to Hornby recent supply in this until the matter is figured out and reported back here on Monday is a tad premature.

Can I ask you an honest question?

What 'if' just 'if' and not saying they have, your trusted supplier is incorrect? What then?

    Cheers

    Dave

No....not a comparison. You can't compare a minnow with an elephant, anyway. Whomsoever the manufacturer, the end result  is the same,I'm afraid.I have experienced this with 3 different Dapol stockists and not just one

  7. Thank you for your transparency but  regrettably it does not help enthusiasts who have ordered in good faith from their tried and trusted retailer only to be disappointed. We are becoming too accustomed to this from experiences with Hornby......well documented elsewhere on this forum. If the model weren't so damned good, then it wouldn't matter. I already have two....with the third on its way. I know.......it's a learning curve.

  8. So ....... in effect, this is the equivalent of Bachmann's '504' Limited Edition, then? It might have been helpful if this knowledge had been in the public domain.Ah well......blink and you'll miss.I have been in the same position as Darren. 'My' retailer also hasn't,to date, had his allocation .( He is financially sound,by the way). Thus my order with him appears to have gone the way of all flesh.Fortunately,as I 've suffered a similar experience with the blue 52 and with the original release 22,I am 'ahead of the game',so to speak and have made alternative arrangements.Funny,though......there was one on e-bay yesterday. Wonder if it still is ?

  9. People are champing at the bit to spend their hard earned money with Bachmann and Hornby and yet the companies are not supplying the goods or re-releasing items that swiftly sold out last time.

Due,one would suspect,to circumstances beyond the control of either. However,a degree of realism would be welcomed...particularly from Hornby.Bachmann do their best to keep us posted and inform us when things go 'pear-shaped'---viz.the Modified Hall debacle recently. Meanwhile, time passes.....'When the boat come in' Which boat was that?

  10. Quite a few retailers do seem to have sold out of the BR blue version and their websites say no more are available. I expect Dapol will do another run in BR blue, but personally I hope with the original clips to date the loco before the Talisman derailment.

Yet ,curiously, they are still availble for purchase on Dapol's own website. Are we missing something here?

  11. Hi does anybody know the position of stock levels of the BR blue version, Have they all been snapped up or is there a further batch on the way.

I have D1000 and a br blue weathered version on order, fancy the clean blue version to go with them

    Regards

    Bob

According to their website,Cheltenham Model Centre have 12 in stock at £110.

  12. Are the blue ones still available? I have noticed they are no longer listed on Kernow's site, where I got the first one I bought. I hope Dapol haven't run out.

    :help:

Cheltenham Model Centre. Their curious lack of availability is puzzling, however. CMC web says 27 now in stock

  13. Yes....it is slower than some r-t-r but after careful running-in will attain prototypical speed ranges and 'crawl' delightfully. With regard to 'noise'.....this is a subjective issue. If it offends, then get in touch with your retailer or Dapol for advice.Bear in mind that there will be 'rogue' models in every release and Dapol are not trouble-free ( nor do they claim to be ) but they DO offer a 2-year warranty and I know from personal experience that DCC Supplies are 5-star on this. I had trouble with a 22 last year ( short on wheel set contact ). Tomorrow my D 1005 returns for a replacement.....lights not working......see my earlier posting. So things can go wrong.......BUT they can also be put right.

  14. I think I'd check that all is in working order when you receive your model. The lights on my blue don't work. Thus tomorrow I'm returning it for a replacement. Retailer has been contacted.

  15. Better would be 'où sont les blues', with a grave accent on the u (ou = or; où = where).

Very tasty indeed...very, very tempting... too tempting...

Apologies for my humiliating schoolboy French 'gaffe'---for which i stand justifiably chastised. As a suitable penance, I have sourced a 'blue' (CMC) , which should soon be 'whizzing'  its way to me shortly. Elusive creatures.....

  16. ... somehow I totally failed to spot any Blue ones at Ally Pally, with only a selction of amroon and green on display at Dapol... from what I could see, but a good selection on 2mm examples in the cabinet. Unfortinately, I think the OO examples had the warning that they were pre-production samples so not representative of the full production ones... or was I confused (I wasn't feeling my best to be honest and the scrum put me off battling through). Hope to see a blue one in the flesh eventually and make that all important decision.

Good point......'Ou est les bleus ?' The bigger retailers seem to have been allocated some (soon sold out) but a number are still awaiting theirs,it seems. Wonder what the situation is....

  17. R 3162 & R 3177 run easily and smoothly in multiple coupled together with a pair of Kadee 19's...DC Analogue Gaugemaster Twin......both cabs at correct ends and not back to back.

  18. Also, try Hereford Model Centre. They have plenty in stock....at about £98. They always test before posting. Good, unfussy website.
