  1. When was the POLLEN E designated as GIRDWAG WE? Also, what is the timeline for livery colour changes? Many thanks, Peter Prydderch, Stockport
  2. The panic's over. He's been hiding in Criccieth without a valid visa. Peter prydderch, hiding in England.
  3. POLLEN E...please tell me who's transfers are available for this wagon, as I cannot find any.

Also, what colour were they in the late Fifties, and when did the desination change to BRIDGWAG?

A lady, Amanda Moger, in Tasmania is making them in 0-gauge. Also using 3-D technology.

    Many thanks,

    Peter Prydderc, Stockport

I’m having to have them custom made as there’s nothing about

May I please have the details of the supplier? 'No point in reinventing the wheel, as it were.

      Many thanks,

  4. Has anybody news of Geoff Gill of Haywood Railway, as he's not answering e-mails, nor his 'phone? I know he was uffering ill health at the start odf the year. Mnay thanks, Peter Prydderch, Stockport
  5. Thanks for the additional input. I've just ordered:- Nass-Schiebebilder: Güterwagen-Komplettbeschriftung K, SNCF-EUROP, Epoche 3. Artikel-Nummer: 7831". Frankly, I've not the vaguest idea what it is, but It seemed like what Dr. Q was advising. 'Couldn't see his exact reference there, but, if it's wrong, I've wasted more on less.......we'll see. The camera certainly shows up the faults. A section was removed form the middle, and the height was reduced. Slaters fine scale continental wheels were fitted. The lettering is Gauge 1 Norfolk & Western lettering, to make a name that sounds foreign. The yellow chain anchors taxed my mind for some time. I used the KaDee pliers for adjusting their couplers to make the bends on the ends of wire. 'Soldered two together, and banged the soft copper wire with a hammer. without any ability to control the thickness of the flattened product. Overall, I'm pleased with it. The wall behind is blank, as I've yet to decide what half-relief buildings to fill it with. Looking at the bus, it's the one that i went to school in.....all of sixty-plus years ago. The vehicle behind was picked up at the 0-Gauge show last year. 'No idea what it is. Providing they're marshalled between low wagons the height isn't so noticeable. But, hey....it's only a hobby. Thank you all for your help. Peter
  6. Thank you both for your input. I've just looked at the site Dr. Q mentioned, and I find that I need a translator. The period references referred to are new to me, as I model BR (WR) in the late Fifties. The location was near a Monsanto chemical plant, and ferry tank wagons served it. I butchered a US vehicle to look European, without any particular company/nationality in mind that could have served the factory. I'm looking for something like the stolen image attached.....not sure how to enlarge it. The donor collection hasn't anything square-on that I could copy/print. The rest of today is accounted for, but I'll go back onto Dr. Q's site, and apply my mind. Once again, thanks very much. Very best wishes, Peter
  7. I'm just finished a freelance continental O-gauge bogie tank car for ferry use. Finding a square-on picture of the information board that such wagons carried has eluded me. Does anybody make transfers for such wagons/vans? My PC skills are not adequate to do the artwork; has anybody done so? The relevance of the information doesn't matter....if it looks right, then it is right! Very best wishes, Peter Prydderch Stockport, UK
  8. Are back issues available to read anywhere on t'internet? I've no wish to copy them at a time when I'm trying to get rid of stuff, but would like to follow up references made elsewhere. Incidentally, does anybody know the whereabouts of Keith Allen who wrote prolifically in the early Eighties RM about conversions to 4mm BR mineral wagons? He was a Stockport lad then, and had a joint enterprise chum called Dave (Lee?). They were not club types, but ploughed lone furrows. Peter Prydderch, Stockport
  9. Tony, If you're only going top model one of the level crossings, surely, you only want the pannier tanks working in the area? During 1955/6 the following pannier tanks were at Croes Newydd:- 1635 1646 1660 4617 4645 4683 5416 5742 5774 6404 6405 6422 7403 7409 7414 7433 7440 7442 7443 7447 9669 9793 You haven't stated what gauge you'll be using. The proposal of a crossing has little operational interest. Have you thought of modelling Coedpoeth; 'not big, but has a run-round function, plus passenger possibilities. I could give you an 0-gauge scale drawing of the building, for laser cutting. I've an 0-gauge scaae model of Rhostyllen Station, laser-cut from a drawing. However, whilst the platforms are of a reduced scale length, extra trackwork has been incorporated for greater operational possibilities. There were two SLS Specials on the branch; the first on 06/09/1952 was a joint venture with the MLS, whereas the second on the 18/08/1959 was solely an SLS Railtour. There was an REC special later (img715), but I've a feeling it only went to Brymbo. See the third picture taken at Wrexham Exchange; whilst I took the picture, I couldn't afford the fare. I've many photographs in/around Brymbo in 1965, but they largely feature the heavier freight locomotives. I'm from The Rhos, and left the area on St. David's Day 1975. If you 'phone me on 0161 439 4849 I may be of more help to you. In the meantime, hopefully, there's a picture (img692) of a freight approaching the turn-back to the steelworks at Brymbo Middle Box, sometime in 1965....I'd have to look it up! And, not forgetting the banker (img693)! Due to my lack of familiarity with this site, I deleted img692, and had to reinstate it. Hence it being in the wrong order. Peter Prydderch

Thanks for that. 'Never crossed my mind. Peter

Yes, but I've got to the point of preferring the livery to the detail. As I've not the ability to scratchbuild, I've learnt to settle for compromise. However, the thread under the products & Trade Area dealing with the Dapol announcement (Miss Prism 02/09 13:57) talks of incorrectly tapered topfeed. I wasn't sure whether that suggested a separate moulding. I'm ordering 7S-006-021US numbered 1416, and seeing where I get with it, as I'm capable of removing the topfeed and associated piping. It's to live on a small layout based on the station building at Rhostyllen, just South of Wrexham, made for me by LaserCraft Devon, and constructed by my ScaleSeven chum, Mike Osborne. Very best wishes, Peter .

Thanks for that. Please have a look at the thread under UK Prototype Questions, and the answers there are pretty definitive. Anyway, thanks for taking the trouble to respond. Peter
  13. The responses are pretty definitive. Whilst I enlarged to 500%, apart form a vague three part line left/below the number plate, there was no sign of anything on the bunker. Thanks for your help, it'll be a plain black early crest version. Very many thanks for your help, the two of you. Peter
  14. ' Just copied and enlarged it considerably, and there seems to be evidence of sub-grime lining. Many thanks, Peter
  15. Thanks for that. I saw this during my hunt, and seem to recall that it was at Swindon for repairs, not withdrawal. I cannot not find it again. Have you the date that the picture was taken. It seems to be plain black. Many thanks, Peter
