  1. The streamlined Coronation was followed by a short glimpse of an unrebuilt Patriot or Royal Scot and an A1 or A2 on the Forth Bridge.
  2. A manufacturer, Accurascale, goes out of their way to make life easier for modellers by introducing a removeable roof panel and gets criticised for it on a painted sample. I'm sure if the experts on here have noticed an anomaly, so will Accurascale themselves. Less chance of damaging your model, therefore more chance of being able to use the lifetime guarantee if needed, what more can you wish for? The liveries look great by the way.
  3. Just when you think Accurascale can't get any better - they do! What a superlative gesture, giving a level of service unique in model railway manufacturing. Congratulations and thanks to everyone concerned. SWFRS
  4. Most likely it was, you never know with Rapido!
  5. I received Rapido's latest newsletter (no 180) tonight. What do you make of this? https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Rapido-News-180----New-Year--New-News--Deadlines--Events-and-a-Ton-of-New-Photos--.html?soid=1101318906379&aid=SshbF54I1vQ
  6. According to 'British Railways Class 60 locomotives' by Edward Gleed (2016), the metal plates are mountings for a GPS tracker aerial which was fitted to some, but not all, of the class.
  7. There are photos of 50022 on MGR empties at Cannock Road, Wolverhampton, along with 408 at Cosford and 50031 at Ironbridge with MGRs on pages 67 & 68 of 'Life & Times Class 50' by Colin Marsden OPC 1991.
  8. Maybe not quite on topic but can anyone shed any light on the distinct memory I have of Jubilee 45581 'Bihar And Orissa' on a freight train on the Bootle-Aintree branch around 1961/2? The nameplate was painted orange and white, divided horizontally in the centre, with polished brass letters as usual.
  9. 50043 Eagle doing what the Class 50s did best. Dawlish July 1984. Also a taster of the forthcoming Accurascale 50017 Royal Oak. Kidderminster 5th October 2018.
  10. My 46256 has a flanged pony (no animals were harmed😆) if it's any of your business!! 🤣 (Think we'd better stop this now!)
  11. Amazing advertising and shock news in the latest Hornby e-mail. 60103 has been renumbered, had a makeover and no longer runs from KX just to Leeds and York! 😄 Anyone home at Hornby?
  12. You've been hacking me? 🤣😛🙃
  13. I wondered if it was to sync the firebox flicker to the speed.
  14. I saw the 50 at Chester on Saturday, it looks like it has the same superb attention to detail to which we are now accustomed with Accurascale. I later spoke to Fran about it, regarding collectors like myself having a detailed buffer beam at one end when supplied. A really positive and wide ranging conversation and typical of the depths the company go to in listening to their customers like no other. Wonderful Class 89 samples as well. Looking forward to 50017 (and maybe more)!
  15. Missing guard irons? Not a problem, just take them off any late-era Hornby A3 or A4 which shouldn't have them!
  16. Quote from the e-mail received from Hornby today:- "Presenting the P2 Collection- Today also heralds the arrival of ‘Earl Marischal’ (the only P2 to have smoke deflectors) and ‘Lord President’. You can buy these two powerful P2 models right now." No smoke deflectors on 2002 Earl Marischal! Does anyone at Hornby know what they're doing?
  17. Still no satisfactory conclusion to the ambiguity caused by Hornby. palmsticks posted this on 6th August 2022 on the forum topic "Hornby R3984 LNER P2 'Earl Marischal' - with or without smoke deflectors?" , from Hornby's Engine Shed blog:- https://uk.Hornby.com/products/lner-p2-class-2-8-2-2002-earl-marischal-era-3-r3984 However, in their engineshed blog and various other press releases, they have produced CAD artwork which shows the engine with the later smoke deflectors and have stated: "Another feature that has been asked about is the secondary smoke deflectors as fitted to 2002 ‘Earl Marischal’ and yes, these have been tooled and will be added to that model. While we do not have a physical sample of that with us in Margate at the moment, I thought I would treat you to a CAD shot."
  18. I must have had sixth sense! I cancelled my order for 2002 about four months ago on grounds of cost, but wanted and expected it to have the second set of smoke deflectors if Hornby's confusing CAD releases were anything to go by. Am I missing something or was the 'as built' release made clear enough by Hornby? Relieved and can't wait for the (more expensive?) version with two sets of deflectors.
  19. I contacted Simon directly a short time ago regarding a problem with a new Class 91, what may have seemed possibly a trivial matter, but I was delighted with his response and follow-up. There is a genuine desire on his part to keep customers happy. Good wishes and a happy retirement Simon.
  20. Richard Watson appears to be O scale, are you trying to tell us something? 🤔
  21. Stunning underframe and bogie detail, right down to the AWS receiver! Looking at quality of the rest of the cab front detail, I am unconcerned at the wiper position or shape, as the wipers shown cannot be the finished articles.
  22. The late model 60103 with German deflectors perpetuates the incorrect fitting of front bogie splash guards and second set of guard irons. All A3s had them removed by 1956.
  23. Maybe not the correct place to post this but:- Wow, from recent beginnings to the best, most accurate and sensibly priced manufacturer in such a short time! To reach out and overtake all the others is a staggering achievement by Accurascale. I am primarily a locomotive model collector and the quality of those models I have purchased already, 2x Deltics and 92010, is a statement of intent which at present no-one seems to be able to compete with. Roll on 89001, 50017 & an as yet unspecified 66 or two! Thanks to everyone at Accurascale and here's to a teriffic future. SWFRS
  24. Looks as if NBC Poppy Red and NBC Green are visible, so likely for the Leyland Nationals of Ribble, Crosville and others. I would like to think that Ribble maroon and cream is there too, for the Leyland/Burlingham PD3/4 which I bring into correspondence with Jason Shron from time to time!
