Now I know why it wouldn't move. No water = no steam = no move. Anyway, back to the works, and all OK.just arriving at Lr.Brislington.

Found an old N-Gauge Fleishmann Piccolo chassis in the spares box, fixed it up, and decided to see what I could do with it. So, with an Airfix Pug Kit, of similar vintage, lowered, shortened & narrowed, came up with this !!!

Was looking to see if I had any Airfix Kits, but apart from numerous figures, the only thing I came up with is the side and 2 half ends, of an Engine shed, used for the Dairy on Brislington. During construction. And in place. Must fix that guttering !!!

As my posting was done from my work computer, and I'm now getting ready to retire, I'm unable to re-link any of my photos. So, here are some recent ones to be getting on with.

I use a combination of 3 Link / Screw, and S&W. So, the bulk of my Goods stock are fitted with 3 Link/Screw, with some having S&W only, for shunting , and some others having a mix. The Cattle Wagon below, is fitted this way, S&W one end, with 3 Link on the other, and the following ones are all 3 Link. With Coaching Stock, I tend to use wire connecters within rakes, and S&W at each end.

I use a combination of S&W, 3 Link & Screw Link. I'd have a small number of wagons fitted with either S&W both ends, or one end, with 3 Link on the other. Regarding Coaching, on shorter rakes, I'd have S&W on the outer ends, with a simple "hook & loop" between them. Airfix B Set. . Hornby 4 Wheel Coach. For ease of use, I would use S&W couplings on the lead vehicle on all rakes, be they Goods or Coach. I don't have any curves on the layout, being too short, and all points are 4' ones, so no problem with Buffer Locking.

Have started to build up the background, to bring it in line with the extension printed one. Think I'll then do a partial re-paint, with the edgings in black.

Hi Graham, With both boards set up side by side, the original Brislington one, with the painted background, show up against the Printed one, on the new section. Going to try and increase the foliage etc, and see if it makes a difference.

Just Dark Earth spray from a rattle can, and then ballast. Some parts needed a bit of touch up afterwards with a brush, but not much. All the Standard Gauge is SMP, purchased around 35 years ago. I believe it was called "Mark 2" then. The narrow gauge is also around the same vintage, when the only 009 lengths were in 18" lengths. The 2 009 Points, are the only recent purchases.

Finally bit the bullet, and took over part of a spare room we have. Didn't have space to set up permanently, so, starting with the frame, and installed each of the sections. Only problem is very little fiddle yard space. To run a service, will have to wait until better weather, and set up outside. Anyway, not really a problem, as I prefer building to running, but at least now, I have to option of testing etc. Now I can get on with the rest of the detailing.

Had done very little in the last while. But started back to try and finish a few jobs. The extension, which is now "Lower Brislington", is nearly finished. Back Scene in place. Just some more foliage/detailing to complete. Have to say, I'm getting more use out of this section, than the main Brislington one. As it's a short walk outside of Brislington, there's a limited Bus service laid on from the Narrow Gauge Station, in to town. So, from the entry left side : A couple of "Owl Wans" having a natter !!! Exit right. Overall shot. Have to sort out some sort of facia for the front. Overall, very pleased with the way it's turned out so far.

I started back in the 60's with Playcraft, purchased then from Woolworths. But my first "Proper" set, came from Aircraft GMR. I believe this was sometime during the 70's. I don't think it came with track, or a controller, which were purchased separately. This was the GWR Prairie & B Set. The Prairie still gets regular runs, but is now regulated to coal duties, and the coaches are used as a 2 or 4 coach set, depending on how busy things are.

The Mainline 43XX, had traction tyres, on both rear wheels, at least mine has. There was really only proper pick up on 4 wheels, 2 each side. I had a spare Hornby County Tender, so swapped the original one for this, which added extra pick ups. I regularly strip down the older Locos for cleaning & oiling.

Still have 2 running on Brislington. One of them hauls the works train. These must be around 40 years old now. Just keep them lightly oiled. I also have 2 of the Bachmann ones. Wonder if they'll still be around in another 40 odd years !!!

They were quite handy for adapting for kit bashing. Had one to hand, without the brick finish, so not sure which make. Used it as the centre section, along with Wills sheets / kit, to make the Dairy Building on Brislington. And then finished.

Here's another one of the Foden lorries. And again, the Parcel van. Still have one of these to build.
