  1. After waiting all this time for the arrival of the Bachmann 009 Diesel I feel the announcement of NG16 may change my direction especially as I have a number of suitable 0.16.5 hand built stub points.
  2. Well done Bachmann, I have resisted the temptation of the wonderful 009 locomotives since the launch. Having modelled in both Gn15 and 0.16.5 many years ago in may be time to look again at the new Bachmann NG16 Seems I will need to find a buyer for my Gn15 stock to fund this new venture. I knew I shouldn’t have gone to Statfold today. Terry
  3. My layout Oil Drum Lane a DRS depot was at the York Exhibition over the Easter weekend which had various stock from 1992 to the arrival of the Class 68 Terry
  4. Good morning Browsing to see what’s new on RMWEB this morning I discovered your posts on refurbishing of diecast road vehicles. Growing up in the 1950 & 60s unlike many fellow railway modellers I was not a train spotter but my interest was more road transport. But I will be looking out for your future posts, which I find most interesting. As a keen railway modeller road vehicles are a important part of the model railway scene on all my layouts. i have a couple of rules in that the vehicles I have on the layout have to be the correct period and non of them nice and shiny straight out of the box. keep up the good work Terry
  5. Hope it all goes well with MM at Basingstoke. A bit far from Stafford Any other exhibitions planned a little nearer me ? Terry
  6. Very interesting point and something I have considered trying. I guess it would make sense to use the same manufacturer chip in both the locomotive and placed in or underneath the layout suitable amplified (In my case a 1st generation Bose speaker which I already have) I guess a Zimo chip may be suitable, as they seem to do both sound and non sound versions of the chip. Its a option for use in say a small industrial loco in either 009 or 00 Got me thinking…….. Terry p s Probably have to fund it by selling my Gn15 stock of goodies Locomotives, stock, kits, chassis even hand built points.
  7. Thanks Roddy & Spamcan61 I feel between you have answered my question and I will purchase the recommended assorted screws. Terry
  8. However, the best course of action is wherever possible to ascertain the screw thread size and just get it from a screw supplier Not really sure how you do that other than the length of a screw. How do you measure a thread size ? Terry
  9. Could you please PM with the link you used. Many Thanks
  10. Only just caught up with this topic….. Just wondering if this project has proceeded and any updates or pictures. i would be interested to know the dimensions of the layout as seen above. Terry
  11. I purchased a BR Black version with sound, I will check to see if mine has brass plates. Was purchased for project which I doubt I will get around to building so I guess I will it at some stage. Terry
  12. As part of an exhibition team I feel I need to point that both the location and the availability of dates available are controlled by the venue, as they will have all sorts of events using there facilities. So you can only choose the venues and dates that are made available to you, You try very hard not to clash with other model railway exhibitions on the same weekend wherever possible. As this is detrimental for visitors, layouts and traders. I can assure organising a model railway exhibition small or large is not a easy task. Happy Modelling Terry Stafford Railway Circle
  13. Just a reminder that two weeks before the Statfold Exhibition and GETS is Stafford Railway Exhibition over the weekend of 28th & 29th September with 50 quality layouts booked and around the same number of traders both big & small and of course free car parking for over 2500 vehicles and complimentary preserved bus service on both the Saturday & Sunday I also will be going to Warley/Statfold exhibition and I agree it's a excellent venue and wish it well.
  14. On the subject of spares I ordered three items from Bachmann Spares. 1. 08 Replacement Body 2. Accessories pack for class 57 The third item being the screws that hold the class 66 bodyshell to the chassis, I ordered what I thought was three packs of 4 small screws for a pound (25p) per screw which I thought was outrageous. Package arrived this morning with a packet containing 3 screws (£1) per screw I have complained but got nowhere. Absolutely disgusted with such profiteering from Bachmann Its the last new item I will be buying from Bachmann Anybody know of alternative suppliers of small screws Terry
  15. Unfortunately like DLT I was unable to make the long trip down from Stafford, so thank you all of you for the photos and the YouTube video I have just watched. likewise I was lucky enough to exhibit a couple of my layouts, and when I sold my 7mm NG stock Howard bought my last 7mm NG layout Alstone Quay As I was a longtime member of the of the 7mm NGA I always enjoyed Howard’s company. It was another 7mm NGA member who introduced to the association Howard Clarke way back in the 1980s All though not currently involved in NG I do occasionally operate Blacaster which now belongs to a Stafford member. Thanks to you all for putting on this exhibition today in memory of Howard Martin Terry
  16. Come and say hello when you visit the York Exhibition. I will be there with my layout Oil Drum Lane Terry
  17. Hi Chris, I have been exhibiting with club layouts and my own layouts for well 25 years and I would totally agree with the facts as in your above post. Terry
  18. If anyone wants a NCE-06 which works fine complete with box and instruction’ leaflet, make me an offer I no longer have a need for it as the layout I used it for doesn’t need it since the layout was modified. Terry PM me if your interested .
  19. Whiteacres set around the millennium will be the Abingdon Model Railway Exhibition at the beginning of March
  20. I also have a 06 and don’t find it particularly user friendly. Very rarely use it. Terry
  21. Jim Could you make it a bit later as I have had a long day at Doncaster today . 🤪 Terry
  22. May be worth popping along to your local model railway club and chat through your ideas. If you Google UK Model Shops you will be able find Model Railway Clubs in your area. Eltel
  23. Sorry I don’t agree, having been to the IPMS convention many times over the years and regular owner and operator of both my own club layouts the two types of shows are totally different. I agree the standard of Modeling at IPMS events are first class and many model railway layouts don’t reach the same standards. The major difference is with model railways we operate the layout for the whole time of exhibition, we’re as at the IPMS they all sit around and chat to each other. The IPMS organisers must be making a fortune out of all the traders attending. I like all railway modeller are not looking to make a profit out of attending exhibitions, but equally not costing themselves money to attend especially if the exhibition is being run by a commercial organisation to make a profit for the shareholders.
