  1. Unusual visitor to Glasgow Central! Apologies for the poor quality image, taken on my phone!
  2. Glasgow works open day, 27 June 1981! It was a lovely day and didn't want to wear the jacket, but my mum made me! Handy place to pin the RailRiders (which I joined on the day) badge though!
  3. Happy Christmas and best wishes to you all. Hope your day is filled with everything you could wish for! George
  4. For those of you who have followed my intermittent postings regarding, redundancy, trying to find work, getting work although not ideal, hoping to get a new job. I am pleased to announce that I have secured a position with Scotrail in Revenue Protection. I applied last April and have gone through numerous assessments, interviews and checks to get this and am so glad the process is almost over. Unfortunately I don't have a start date yet but assume I'll be informed after the holiday period. Glad to be getting back to having a career and not just a job, something hopefully that'll take me to retirement! Best Christmas present ever! Anyhoo enough about me and my best to you all! George
  5. Dangerous place to live, Leith, sixoh8sixoh with Harburn Hobbies there on the walk! My son lives round the corner from the shop and I always end up buying something when I visit! I couldn't live there and still be solvent! Lol!
  6. First time I've seen some red in Kilmarnock. 7 Nov 14
  7. Enough said! Genuine 1964 ad apparently!
  8. I can't stand fireworks, they terrify my dog for weeks before and after November 5th. I think they should be banned from public sale and only allowed at organised events! On stating that point of view to my wife a few years ago who is from New Jersey she too like Pete told me that they were banned there! Sounds like heaven to me! Good grief I'm turning into a right old Victor Meldrew! Lol!
  9. Morning all from a surprisingly calm Glasgow as the weather forecast of high winds seemed to pass us by. Working from home the past few days as I've obviously time travelled over the weekend to the Victorian era and come back with bacterial pleurisy! I'm glad it's that though as I thought the worse on Saturday after I was coughing up blood! Worse thing about being self employed though is that I have to work or no pay so as much as I'd rather be wrapped up warm in bed I'm sitting here on the I-pad and laptop! Mrs CC is doing her best to look after me though, so that's something. My interview last Friday with Scotrail went swimmingly, at least I think it did. Hopefully I have passed and if so there is one last stage, namely a medical and that should be me! Fingers crossed! Best wishes to all on the ER today, hope you all have a good one!
  10. Woke up to the news that First had lost the Scotrail franchise to Abellio and thought oh well I guess my job application won't be taken any further after all. I then get an email this afternoon inviting me for a final interview for the position next Friday! A pleasant surprise indeed. Hope all having a good day!
  11. Fan of the Patriots since the early 80's again thanks to Channel 4, was a season ticket holder for the Scottish Claymores when NFL Europe was running and would love one of these NFL games to come to Hampden. Don't think it's fair that Wembley gets it all and the NFL know the support they have up here! Ah well maybe one day!
  12. Thanks Jock, I do keep tabs on the place from time to time but with my job and the three hour round trip commute to Kilmarnock every day I'm normally too tired to post anything! lol! Off today however so dropped in! I'm hoping a job with Scotrail comes up soon, it's currently on hold after passing various stages the last of which was a phone interview but I suspect First are waiting to see the results of the franchise bid before taking my application to the next stage! It's for a ticket examiner position but I'm just looking for something easy go lucky to take me to the end of my working life! Fed up with management and having to make big decisions and getting people to do things! lol! A nice wee job travelling the rails will suit me nicely! Good luck to you in getting your hernia sorted, I had an incisional one corrected last December and am feeling great now! Best of luck and good thoughts to everyone else who may be going through stuff too! Now off to the shed to get that addition to the baseboard fitted! Later!
  13. And there was me thinking I was the lucky one! lol! Reported it too!
  14. But there's critical and there's critical. It's a railroad model and for that I'd give it a 10 out of 10 but to detract from it because the chimney is a little off or a line of paint is slightly too thick. I'm sorry and I am in no way being personal but I find it irritating that someone feels that it is better to find the teeniest, tiniest fault with it instead of looking at what is good about it particularly as I said, it's a railroad model. It's not like it had a missing pony truck or something! If we had paid £4,500 for a top of the range brass model, yeah we would be looking for perfection in scale and detail! I'm sorry but this kind of nitpicking just spoils threads for me! That's just me though and I mean no disrespect to anyone!
  15. There's a wee bit too much of rivet counteritis going on in this thread! C'mon will the world end if the chimney is a gnat's gonad too tall? Geez! lol!
  16. I've got to say I much prefer the non streamlined version! I'll leave that to the A4s!
  17. Thought about changing the lettering until I saw this photograph. The result being no change needed from me!
  18. My P2 arrived this morning and is the first Railroad Range model I have bought. I am mightily impressed, she looks great out of the box being that I am not a rivet counter but with a bit of paint here and there she will be stunning. She is also a smooth and powerful runner, handling 8 coaches with ease. I was surprised that she had glazing and the whistle atop her smokebox is just fab. Well done Hornby with this one!
  19. It's on Ebay now too! lol!
  20. No sign of my Railroad version pre order from Kernow yet although it shows that the price has gone up £13 including postage since my confirmed pre order! Surely if I have preorder confirmation at a certain price, that is the price I should be charged at? I've had items from Hattons in the past that have come in at the price at the time I ordered even though the release price has gone up! Take this back, just got a confirmation email stating dispatch and at the preorder price!
  21. Ian, I suffer from Meniere's disease and it was diagnosed after suffering symptoms like yourself. It's not pleasant when I get an attack which thankfully now is only once or twice a year and can affect people in different ways to lesser or greater extents. There is medication which works pretty well!
