  1. Thank you folks, much appreciated. I will have a good look round the mentioned sites.
  2. I am in dire need of assistance with building a Mercian DL5 shunter kit in 4mm scale. This is admittedly my first brass kit, and, although I am willing to learn from my mistakes, I am in a hole when it comes to the wheels/motor/ gear combo, that is required to complete the kit. The suggested motor is a Mashima 1220/1223, but I am aware they have ceased trading. Is there a decent alternative or is it an Ebay hunt? I assume it is designed as direct drive from motor to centre axle with out a gear box, but what is a good gear set for low speed shunter running? Also required are three 14mm, 10 spoke insulated wheels, and 3 plain wheels - Romford suggested but I have drawn a blank on these, finding only flangeless or non-insulated. Finally, axles... for OO gauge, and crankpins to fit - which also accept the coupling rods. Has anyone completed this kit or the similar D2/7 kit and could direct me to the correct parts, please?
  3. Rails have another Flash Sale of mk3s... 25 quid each, GWR sliding door types. https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/flash-sale-1?fbclid=IwAR3QjJKDKpuy39ZMOJo4UnWqc51TYGuAh-OBLCFhDrYTh62tiOEeWf5oqCY
  4. Rails have a flash sale on Hornby's Arriva Cross Country mk3s. A little under 20 quid. https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/flash-sale-1?fbclid=IwAR1zUPFTY5zv8XkTxDrvgrqg8rTp1NGj7sUIMAGfcae1nfsolak7n5xoOUQ
  5. Really?? Thats weird Because I bought what it said was the last one about 3pm!! X
  6. https://railsofsheffield.com/search/bargains?page=1 Rails have started their January sale a little early. It seems to include their advent deals so far, that 150 quid NSE commuter set is enticing. In other news their summer sale will start in March. Ahem.
  7. Widely used, only done in plastic a loooong time ago. It couldn't be a class 156 Super Sprinter could it? Although the from the image on page one of this topic the only bit showing at the very front appears to only fit a Voyager! X
  8. I sent my 31 off to Hornby to have it looked at after noticing the mazak cracking and bulging the buffer beam. I heard nowt for a while but I knew they were waiting for replacement bodies and chassis to be made (Dutch 31110). Decided to email them and ask where it was and they had already sent out a cheque reimbursing me for postage but left a digit off my house number... they resent that first class and gave me a £125 code for their website which I am sure was a fair bit more than the original cost of the loco.! I know mistakes do happen and shouldn't but Hornby were brilliant with their service
  9. A little night time shot, class 108 DTS, basic scenery at the moment but as it's nice and dark it's hard to see. Reminds me of my spotting days at Bristol Temple Meads (although not so much the NSE livery obviously).
