  1. I know how good ESU locos are because I've been after one for my HO layout for a long time! But, difficult to justify featuring one in a magazine called 'British Railway Modelling'.

I've had several conversations with manufacturers about whether they'd be willing to do something similar for the UK OO market, but the answer is always negative. Sadly, the perception is that British modellers just won't pay

  2. One major advantage for the Bachmann Twins is that they stay on the rails. I sold my FIA Trains 10001 (eventually) because I couldn't run it anywhere, except in a straight line. The slightest whiff of a curve and it was off into the ballast. Nice as it is to have a solidly-built RTR brass model, I prefer the Bachmann models in terms of looks, detail and performance (and price). If you want something to run, rather than look pretty in a display case, there's really no competition. How's that for a comparative test?

  3. Hi John,

Good to hear from you. I'm somewhat behind with the blog posts, so the layout is actually now several steps ahead, to the point where I have ordered the baseboards and track. Hoping to run my first trains before Christmas! I'll do some more of the background stuff first and then get on to the photos and build when the boards arrive.

    Cheers

    Ben
